How to Apply

1. Before applying:

2. Two phases:
One-time Registration in the SAP online portal, followed by submission of the application against the post. Applicants should not submit more than one application; an application once submitted is final.
3. Window:
Applications can be submitted online from 25.06.2025 to 24.07.2025. Applications submitted direct or by any other mode shall not be accepted.
4. Uploads:
All certificates proving age, educational qualification, experience, caste and disability, plus a recent passport size colour photograph, must be uploaded, failing which the candidature shall be rejected
5. Registration number:
Applicants should retain a soft copy or printout of the online application containing the unique registration number, generated only on successful submission, and quote it in any correspondence

Exam Pattern

1. Phase I — Objective type offline test:
40 marks, 45 minutes, in two parts: General (Part A) and Discipline related (Part B)
2. Question distribution:
General Knowledge 5, General English 5, Reasoning 5, Quantitative Aptitude 5, Discipline related 20 — 40 questions, 40 marks, one mark each
3. Phase I — Descriptive type offline test:
40 marks, 90 minutes, comprising discipline related questions
4. Phase II:
PowerPoint presentation on work experience, 20 marks, duration not more than ten minutes

Syllabus Details

1. Part A — General Knowledge:
Facts about India and other countries: basic facts, geography, tourism, transport systems, personalities, places, history, constitution, economy, writers, literature, Indian States and Union Territories, international organizations. General Science: branches of study, scientific instruments and appliances, physics, chemistry, biology. Sports and games. Important events, movements, leaders, places, years. Writers, authors, biography, autobiography. Abbreviations.
2. Part A — General English:
Spotting errors, vocabulary usage, sentence completion, synonyms, antonyms, reconstruction of sentences, one word substitution, idioms and phrases, grammar, correct usage of articles, prepositions, singular and plural.
3. Part A — Reasoning:
Analogy, classification, series completion, coding-decoding, blood relation, direction sense test, alphabet test, number and ranking, puzzle test, odd man out, general intelligence, numerical ability and knowledge in Microsoft Excel.
4. Part A — Quantitative Aptitude:
Number system, fractions and decimals, simplification, volume and surface areas, square roots and cube roots, problems based on numbers, speed, time and distance, simple interest, compound interest, boats and streams, problems on trains, percentage, HCF and LCM, average, ratio and proportion, time and work, problems based on ages, profit, loss and discount, statistics, permutations and combinations, probability.
5. Part B — Assistant Engineer (Information Technology):
Theoretical and application knowledge on system administration and management; operating systems UNIX, LINUX and Windows; network administration and management; database management systems; ERP systems management; website management; management of PCs and peripheral devices; various types of IT systems management.

Selection Process

1. Phase I:
Written test — Objective Type 40 marks and Descriptive Type 40 marks, held at Hooghly CSL, Howrah or as decided by Hooghly CSL, through offline mode
2. Phase II:
PowerPoint presentation on work experience, 20 marks, held at Hooghly CSL, Kolkata
3. Mark list:
Prepared on the basis of marks secured in the Phase-I objective type offline test. Descriptive answer sheets are evaluated only for candidates who secure the minimum pass mark in the objective test and meet the notified eligibility requirements.
4. Minimum pass marks:
Unreserved post: 50% of total marks of each test. PwBD candidates: 40% of total marks of each test.
5. Shortlisting ratio:
Sufficient candidates called for certificate verification to obtain a minimum ratio of 6 candidates against the post in order of merit; Phase II proceeds even if fewer than 1:6
6. Certificate verification:
Only candidates who successfully complete certificate verification shall be shortlisted to attend Phase II
7. Rank list and tie-break:
Prepared on total marks in Phase I and Phase II. Ties are resolved first on marks in the discipline part of the objective type test, and thereafter on seniority in age.
8. Syllabus:
Detailed syllabus for the objective and descriptive tests is at Annexure I; the syllabus is indicative and not exhaustive

Reservation Details

1. Ex-servicemen reservation (Annexure-III):
As per DoPT OM No. 36034/27/84-Estt (SCT) dated 02.05.1985, ex‑servicemen who have been re‑employed in Government on the civil side after availing ex‑servicemen benefits are not entitled to such benefits on further re‑employment.
2. Eligibility reference OMs:
Ex‑servicemen declare eligibility to avail reservation as per DoPT OM Nos. 36034/6/90‑Estt (SCT) dated 10.10.1994 and 36034/1/2014‑Estt (SCT) dated 14.08.2014.

Document Requirements

1. PwBD:
A valid Certificate of disability in the prescribed format issued by the Competent Authority under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Rules, 2017, with a minimum 40% degree of disability
2. Experience proof:
Experience certificates from companies registered under the Companies Act 1956 or foreign companies of equivalent status. In their absence, a copy of the appointment or offer letter and latest pay slip or last pay drawn.
3. Contractor experience:
Work experience from contractors may be considered based on endorsement of the Principal Employer, supported by further proof such as ESI/EPF statements. Training certificates issued by contractors without such endorsement shall not be considered.
4. Government servants:
Declaration as per Annexure II that the employer has been informed in writing, and a No Objection Certificate before final selection
5. Ex-servicemen:
Discharge Certificate/Book or Pension Payment Order from the Armed Forces, and an undertaking as per Annexure III that they have not been re-employed in Government after availing ex-serviceman benefits
