1. No refund:

Medical examinationAll selected candidates are medically examined before appointment, including tests for defective vision, colour blindness, hearing, stammering, flat foot and knock knee; being found medically fit is compulsory. ReservationReservation applies under the Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act 1991 (Bihar Act 3, 1992), as amended.
Women's reservation35 per cent of the posts, calculated on the 97 per cent of reserved and unreserved posts remaining after the 3 per cent reservation for women of the Backward Classes, are horizontally reserved for women within each reservation category. Under General Administration Department resolution memo no. 12575 dated 09.07.2025 the 35 per cent horizontal reservation is available only to women who are original residents of the State of Bihar. Women may also be appointed on merit over and above the 35 per cent, under section 4(3) of Bihar Act 3, 1992.
Economically Weaker SectionThe Bihar Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Economically Weaker Sections) Act 2019 applies; a certificate based on the income and assets of financial year 2025-2026 is required. For a married, divorced or deserted woman of the Economically Weaker Section, an income and assets certificate is valid only if issued on the basis of General Administration Department letter no. 5622 dated 24.03.2026.
Third genderKinnar/kothi/hijra/transgender persons are separately included at serial 47 of the Backward Classes list (Schedule 2) and, per General Administration Department resolution no. 12722 dated 12 September 2014, receive the benefit of Backward Class reservation in state services. Gender is determined by the identity card issued by the District Magistrate.
Residents of other statesThe benefit of any reservation, including the 35 per cent for women, is available only to original residents of Bihar. Reserved-category candidates of other states are counted as unreserved and must declare themselves unreserved in the application, failing which they are held ineligible.

How to Apply

1. Mode:
Online only, from the 'Bihar Police' tab of https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in, through the link for Advt. No. 07/2026. The application is filled in two parts.
2. Part 1 - registration:
Registration records the candidate's name, nationality, mobile number, e-mail address, Bihar domicile, reservation category, gender and date of birth, followed by payment. On successful registration a registration number and password are sent by SMS and e-mail. Details may be edited before payment only.
3. Part 2 - application form:
After logging in with the registration number and password, the candidate fills in the father's or husband's name, mother's name, address and educational qualification, agrees to the declaration, and uploads a colour photograph taken within two months on a white background, 15 to 25 KB, in .jpg/.jpeg/.gif, and separate signatures in English and Hindi in black or blue ink on a white background, each 15 to 25 KB.
4. After submission:
A confirmation SMS or e-mail is sent, after which the application is complete. No change is permitted after final submission. Candidates should print the acknowledgement on A4 paper and keep it.
5. Cancellation and re-application:
A wrong or defective registration or submitted application cannot be edited but may be cancelled, after which a fresh application may be filed. The fee already paid is not refunded and the fee must be paid again for the new application.
6. Nothing to be posted:
The completed online application need not be sent to the Commission; the Registration Number is required for future correspondence and a photocopy of the acknowledgement must be attached when corresponding with the Commission. Applications sent by post or other means, and requests for correction in them, are not considered.

Exam Pattern

1. Preliminary examination:
One paper of 100 marks with 100 objective multiple-choice questions, 2 hours: 40 questions on general knowledge and current affairs and 60 questions from one group chosen by the candidate among (a) Electronics and Communication, (b) Electronics and Tele Communication, (c) Information Technology and (d) Electrical and Electronics. The questions are of polytechnic level. Candidates scoring below 30 per cent are declared unsuccessful for the main examination.
2. Main examination - Paper 1, General Language Knowledge:
100 marks, of which 50 marks are General Hindi and 50 marks General English, of intermediate level, objective multiple-choice, 1 hour 30 minutes. A minimum of 30 marks is compulsory, failing which the candidate is declared ineligible. The marks of this paper are not counted in determining merit.
3. Main examination - Paper 2, Technical:
100 marks, 100 objective multiple-choice questions, 3 hours, in whichever one of the four groups the candidate has chosen, at polytechnic level. A minimum of 33 per cent is compulsory; candidates scoring less are unsuccessful.
4. Negative marking:
0.2 marks are deducted for each wrong answer in both stages. The answer sheet is in two copies, one of which is retained by the Commission.
5. Normalisation:
The examination may be held in more than one shift depending on the number of applications; multi-shift or multi-paper examinations are evaluated on normalised marks calculated by the equi-percentile method.

Admit Card Details

1. How to obtain:
Download and print the e-Admit Card from https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in under the 'Bihar Police' tab from 24.07.2026. Admit cards are not sent by post.
2. Documents to carry:
The e-Admit Card together with one valid photo identity document - voter identity card, Aadhaar card, driving licence, PAN card or passport.
3. If the photograph is unclear or missing:
Candidates must additionally carry two photographs identical to the one on the application form.
4. Duplicate admit card:
Candidates unable to download it may attend the Commission's office at 5, Hardinge Road, Patna-800001 on 31.07.2026 between 10:00 and 17:00 with a photocopy of the application receipt and a valid photo identity document, and obtain a duplicate at their own cost.
5. Retain after the examination:
The admit card must be kept safe after the examination, as the appointing authority or the Commission may demand it at the main written examination, the physical efficiency test, document verification and joining.

Important Instructions

1. Entry closes:
Reporting time at the examination centre is 08:30 and entry is allowed only up to 09:30; no entry is permitted after that time under any circumstances.
2. OMR answer sheet:
A specimen copy of the instructions printed on the OMR answer sheet is being placed on the Commission's website. Candidates are advised to study the written-examination instructions on the website and practise with the specimen copy, because entries such as roll number, question booklet number, the handwritten paragraph and the signature that are not made as instructed lead to cancellation of candidature and the answer sheet not being evaluated.
3. Seating:
During the written examination candidates must sit only at the seat matching the name, photograph and roll number printed on the roll-number sticker, failing which their candidature will be cancelled.
