Fee Structure

Application Fee

1. Rs. 700:
Men of the Extremely Backward Class, Backward Class, Economically Weaker Section and Unreserved categories who are permanent residents of Bihar, and all candidates from outside Bihar of any category or gender, whether men or women
2. Rs. 400:
Men of the Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe categories who are permanent residents of Bihar, women candidates of all categories who are permanent residents of the state, and candidates with disabilities of all categories

Payment Methods

1. Online payment only:
Payment is made online while filling the application form. Only Credit Card / RuPay Debit Card and Net Banking transactions current in India are permitted; no other payment mode is accepted
2. Bank charges:
The Commission takes no amount beyond the fee, but bank charges on Net Banking or Credit / RuPay Debit Card payments are borne by the candidate

Other Information

1. No refund:
The fee once successfully paid is not refunded in any case. If a registration or an application is cancelled by the applicant, the fee already paid is not returned and a fresh fee must be paid for a new registration or application
2. Failed transactions:
If the amount is deducted because of a power or internet failure or a slow bank link and registration does not complete, the amount is returned by the payment gateway after 07 working days
3. Chargeback:
Candidates who obtain the fee back from the bank as a chargeback after registering or submitting the application will have the application rejected and legal action taken against them

How to Apply

1. Mode:
Online only. The online application process begins on 17.12.2024 through the 'Bihar Police' tab of https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in, on the link relating to Advt. No. 01/2024
2. One application only:
A candidate may fill only one online application form. If more than one application is filed, all of that candidate's applications are rejected
3. Two parts:
Part one is registration - name, nationality, mobile number, e-mail id, Bihar domicile, reservation category, gender and date of birth - followed by payment of the fee. The registration number and password are then sent by SMS and e-mail. Part two is filled after logging in and asks for father's / husband's name, mother's name, address and educational qualification, followed by consent to a declaration and upload of the photograph and signatures
4. Photograph and signature:
A colour photograph taken within the last two months on a white background, 15 to 25 KB, in .jpg / .jpeg / .gif format; and separate signatures in English and in Hindi in black and blue ink on a white background, 15 to 25 KB, in .jpg / .jpeg / .gif format. Failure to follow these instructions leads to rejection of the application
5. Editing and cancellation:
Details may be edited before payment and, in part two, until the form is finally confirmed and submitted. After final submission no change is permitted; the applicant may only use the Cancel Registration / Cancel Application facility and file afresh, paying the fee again
6. Nothing to be posted:
The completed online application need not be sent to the Commission, but the registration number is required for future correspondence. Candidates must keep a printed acknowledgement (with photograph) on A4 paper and attach a photocopy of it to any correspondence with the Commission
7. Mobile number:
Only one application may be filed from one mobile number. The Commission communicates with the candidate on the mobile number and e-mail id given at registration until the final stage of recruitment, and is not responsible for a wrong, invalid or disconnected number or e-mail id

Exam Pattern

1. Number of papers:

2. Paper 1 - General Hindi:
100 multiple-choice questions, 100 marks, one and a half hours; qualifying only, minimum 30 marks, not counted towards merit
3. Paper 2 - General Knowledge and current affairs:
100 multiple-choice questions, 200 marks, two hours; 0.2 marks negative for each wrong answer
4. Scribe and compensatory time:
A candidate with any benchmark disability as defined in section 2(r) of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016 may be allowed a scribe. Benchmark-disabled candidates, whether writing with or without a scribe, may be given 20 minutes of compensatory time per hour, subject to a maximum of 60 minutes; for an examination shorter than one hour the extra time is given proportionately, never less than 5 minutes and in multiples of 5 minutes

Admit Card Details

1. Availability:
The e-admit card for the eligibility test is available on the 'Bihar Police' tab of https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in from 28.03.2025. Candidates must download and print it; no admit card is sent by post and the instructions printed on it must be followed
2. Centre, date and shift:
Each candidate's examination centre, examination date and shift are marked on the admit card
3. Duplicate:
Candidates unable to download the admit card may attend the Commission's office at 5, Hardinge Road, Patna-800001 on 11.04.2025 between 10:00 and 17:00 with a photocopy of the application acknowledgement and a valid photo identity card and obtain a duplicate at their own cost

Reservation Details

1. Horizontal reservation for disabled persons:
Four per cent horizontal reservation in all posts and services of State Government departments, offices, public undertakings, corporations, bodies and boards under section 34 of the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016, one per cent for each of the four categories, per the enclosed General Administration Department resolution memo no. 13062 dated 12.10.2017.
2. Roster points:
Visual disability at roster points 1 to 25, deaf and dumb disability at roster points 26 to 50, locomotor disability at roster points 51 to 75 and mental disability at roster points 76 to 100 - one post each, per the enclosed resolution.
3. Age relaxation for disabled candidates:
Ten years above the prescribed maximum age for appointment through open competitive examination, and five years for appointment through limited competitive examination, per the enclosed resolution.
4. Qualifying marks relaxation:
Qualifying marks for disabled candidates in open competitive examinations are fixed at a minimum of 32 per cent, at par with Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women candidates, per the enclosed resolution.
5. Examination fee relaxation:
Disabled candidates pay one quarter of the prescribed fee, at par with Scheduled Caste and Scheduled Tribe candidates, per the enclosed resolution.
6. Scribe provision:
A scribe is to be provided for blind and low-vision candidates, whose educational qualification must be one level below that of the examination; the scribe is paid Rs 100 per shift by the examining body, and the candidate receives 15 minutes extra per hour, a minimum of 15 and a maximum of 45 minutes, per the enclosed resolution.
7. Exemption from computer proficiency test:
Wholly visually disabled candidates and candidates disabled in one or both hands are exempted from the conditions relating to passing the computer proficiency test, per the enclosed resolution.

Document Requirements

1. At joining:
Selected candidates must appear before the appointing authority with the relevant original certificates and records - a valid photo identity card (voter identity card, driving licence, Aadhaar card and the like); the matriculation pass certificate for date of birth; the Intermediate (10+2) or equivalent pass certificate for educational qualification; the diploma in computer operation from a government-recognised institution held by 01.08.2024; a caste certificate issued by the competent authority for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Extremely Backward Class and Backward Class candidates (for women, married or unmarried, valid only if issued on the basis of the father); a non-creamy-layer certificate in Form XVIII B for Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class candidates (for women, valid only if issued on the basis of the father); a Bihar permanent residence certificate for all reserved-category candidates; an economically weaker section certificate based on income and assets of financial year 2023-2024 in the form prescribed by General Administration Department notification no. 2622 dated 26 February 2019 (Gazette no. 284); a certificate of being a Bihar government servant where applicable, compulsory for serving Bihar government servants who completed three years of regular service by the cut-off date and issued by their controlling officer; the P.P.O. and discharge book for ex-servicemen where applicable; a certificate of dependency on a freedom fighter issued by the District Magistrate where applicable; and a disability certificate issued by the competent authority for candidates with disabilities, clearly stating the required degree of disability where exemption or a scribe was claimed

Not fulfilling the conditions of candidature - being outside the prescribed age limit on the specified date, not holding the educational qualification by the cut-off date, or not being an Indian citizen

Not producing a valid certificate issued by the competent authority, or not producing certificates in the correct form. A caste, domicile or non-creamy-layer certificate of a married woman of a reserved category issued on the basis of the husband instead of the father can cancel her candidature, because caste is determined by birth and not by marriage
7. Criminal involvement:
The applicant being found involved in any criminal incident or activity
8. Malpractice:
Committing or attempting fraud, impersonation or misconduct in the written examination or any other eligibility test, or offering any inducement or threat to staff engaged in examination work
9. Other:
Any other circumstance contrary to the terms of the advertisement or generally against the malpractice-free conduct of the competitive examination
