Application Fee

1. All categories - men, women and third gender:
Rs 100/- (one hundred rupees). The advertisement states a single price of the online application form, charged as the examination fee, for candidates of every class and category

How to Apply

1. Where to apply:
Online only. Go to the Commission's website https://bpssc.bihar.gov.in, open the 'Bihar Police' tab and click the link relating to Advt. No. 05/2025; the application process starts from the link given on that page
2. Application window:
The online application process begins on 26.09.2025 and the last date for receipt of the online application is 26.10.2025
3. One application only:
A candidate may fill only one online application. If a candidate files more than one, all the applications are rejected. A candidate applying under a false name and address is treated as ineligible and strict legal action is taken
4. Registration:
Keep a valid and active mobile number and e-mail ID, registered in your own name as far as possible, before registering and paying. Both are compulsory. Important information during the application and the selection process is sent to that e-mail ID and mobile number
5. Communication:
Until the final stage of recruitment the Commission communicates only on the mobile number and e-mail ID given at registration. The Commission is not responsible for a wrong, invalid or disconnected mobile number or e-mail ID
6. Fee payment:
The application fee of Rs 100 and the bank charges must be paid online. Candidates should avoid making several payments for a single application; the fee is not refunded once a payment succeeds. If the amount is deducted because of a power failure, internet failure or a slow bank link and registration does not go through, the amount is returned by the payment gateway after 7 working days
7. One application per mobile number:
Only one application can be filled from one mobile number. Keep the mobile phone at hand while filling the form, because the registration ID and password are sent to it by SMS and also to the registered e-mail ID
8. Check eligibility first:
Before filling the application the candidate must make sure that they satisfy every eligibility condition of the advertisement
9. Two-part form - part 1 (registration):
The online application is filled in two parts. In the first part the candidate registers, giving name, nationality, mobile number, e-mail ID, Bihar domicile, reservation category, gender and date of birth, and then completes the payment. On successful registration the registration number and password are sent immediately by SMS and e-mail. Details may be edited before payment
10. Two-part form - part 2:
After logging in with the registration number and password, fill in father's or husband's name, mother's name, address and educational qualifications in the second part of the online form and agree to the declaration, then upload the photograph and signatures
11. Date of birth and personal details:
State the date of birth exactly as in the original certificate of the 10th or equivalent board examination, and fill name, father's or husband's name and address entirely correctly. If any difference is found when the certificates are matched, the candidature is cancelled
12. Reservation category:
If the applicant enters a wrong reservation category the candidature is cancelled, so applicants must be entirely sure which class or category they belong to. Reserved-category applicants should study the updated instructions and orders issued from time to time on the General Administration Department website state.bihar.gov.in
13. Editing:
Before final submission the applicant may click 'Edit Details' and correct the form. Once confirmed and submitted, the details cannot be edited. A confirmation SMS or e-mail on the registered mobile number or e-mail ID marks the form as complete. The Commission does not allow any change in the details of a finally submitted application
14. Cancelling a wrong registration or application:
If registration was done with wrong details, they cannot be edited after payment; the applicant must use the Cancel Registration Form option. Likewise a finally submitted but wrong or defective application can be cancelled and filled afresh. In both cases the fee already paid is not refunded and the fee must be paid again for the new application
15. Acknowledgement:
The filled online application need not be sent to the Commission, but the registration number is needed for future correspondence. Print the completed acknowledgement (with photograph) on A4 paper, check it carefully, keep it safely and attach a photocopy to any correspondence with the Commission

3. Duplicate admit card:
A candidate who for some reason cannot download the e-admit card from the website may appear in person on 15.09.2026 between 10:00 in the morning and 17:00 in the evening at the Commission's office at 5, Hardinge Road, Patna - 800001, with a photocopy of the acknowledgement of the application form and a valid photo identity card, and obtain a duplicate e-admit card at their own expense

Reservation Details

1. Governing Act:
Reservation applies under the Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991 (Bihar Act 3 of 1992), as amended from time to time
2. Women:
35 per cent of the posts in each reservation category are reserved separately for women as horizontal reservation, against the remaining 97 per cent of the reserved and unreserved category posts while keeping the 3 per cent reservation for Backward Class women intact. Per General Administration Department resolution no. 12575 dated 09.07.2025 the 35 per cent horizontal reservation is allowed only to women who are permanent residents of the State of Bihar. If enough qualified women are not available, the remaining vacancies are filled from qualified men of the same category. Under section 4(3) of Bihar Act 3 of 1992 women may also be appointed on merit over and above the 35 per cent
3. Freedom fighters' grandchildren:
2 per cent horizontal reservation in appointment applies for the grandsons, granddaughters and daughters' children of freedom fighters of the State of Bihar whose pension has been sanctioned by the Central Government, per General Administration Department resolution no. 13185 dated 03.09.2015. A selected candidate is counted in the reserved or unreserved category to which they belong. 36 such posts are shown in this advertisement
4. Economically Weaker Section:
The Bihar Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services and Admission in Educational Institutions (for Economically Weaker Sections) Act, 2019 applies. Only a certificate made on the basis of the income and assets of financial year 2024-2025 is acceptable
5. Transgender:
Kinnar / kothi / hijra / transgender (third gender) is entered independently at serial no. 47 of the Backward Classes list (Schedule-2) of the 1991 Act. Per General Administration Department resolution no. 12722 dated 12 September 2014 such persons receive the benefit of the reservation given to Backward Classes in State Government services
6. Candidates from other states:
The benefit of reservation is allowed only to permanent residents of the State of Bihar. Reserved-category candidates of other states are counted as unreserved candidates, and the age limit and other qualifications prescribed for unreserved candidates apply to them. They are directed to apply declaring themselves as unreserved; otherwise the application is automatically cancelled

1. What to bring:
At the physical efficiency test every candidate must be present at the appointed time with the admit card and a photocopy of the acknowledgement of the online application form, together with the following original certificates and one set of photocopies of them
2. (i) Photo identity card:
A valid photo identity card such as a voter identity card, driving licence or Aadhaar card
3. (ii) Educational qualification certificate:
For candidates of Advertisement Nos. 01/2026 and 02/2026, the Intermediate or equivalent examination pass certificate; for candidates of Advertisement No. 05/2025, the Graduate or equivalent examination pass certificate
4. (iii) Date of birth proof:
Proof of date of birth - the original matriculation certificate
5. (iv) Caste certificate:
Caste certificate issued by the competent authority, for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe, Extremely Backward Class and Backward Class candidates. The caste certificate of a woman candidate, married or unmarried, is valid only if it has been issued on the basis of her father
6. (v) Non-creamy-layer certificate:
Certificate of not falling in the creamy layer, for Backward Class and Extremely Backward Class candidates. The creamy layer certificate of a woman candidate, married or unmarried, is valid only if it has been issued on the basis of her father
7. (vi) Permanent residence certificate:
Certificate of being a permanent resident of the State of Bihar, for candidates of all reserved categories
8. (vii) Economically Weaker Section certificate:
For a member of the economically weaker section of the State of Bihar, where applicable - a certificate made on the basis of income and assets for financial year 2024-2025, acceptable in the form prescribed by Bihar Government, General Administration Department notification no. 2622 dated 26 February 2019 (Gazette no. 284)
9. (viii) Freedom fighter's grandchild certificate:
For grandsons, granddaughters or daughters' children of freedom fighters of the State of Bihar, where applicable - the original certificate in the form prescribed by Bihar Government, General Administration Department, Patna letter no. 11687/Sa.Pra. dated 30.08.2016
10. (ix) Bihar Government servant certificate:
Where applicable - Bihar Government servants who have completed at least three years of regular service by the cut-off date given in the advertisement must compulsorily bring a certificate issued by their controlling officer
11. (x) Ex-servicemen:
Ex-servicemen candidates must compulsorily bring their PPO and discharge book
12. (xi) Transgender candidates:
Kinnar / kothi / hijra / transgender (third gender) candidates must produce a certificate of being a permanent resident of the State of Bihar and a certificate of being transgender issued by the competent authority prescribed by the State Government
13. (xii) Home Guard candidates (Advertisement No. 02/2026 only):
Men, women and third-gender candidates enrolled and trained in the Bihar Home Guard organisation who have completed at least 5 years of service or duty in the organisation must compulsorily bring the certificate of being a Bihar State Home Guard and a valid Home Guard identity card at the time of the physical efficiency test

Important Instructions

1. Compliance with the advertisement:
At every stage of the competitive examination candidates must fully comply with all the conditions and provisions described in the relevant Advertisement No. 05/2025, 01/2026 and 02/2026
2. No second chance:
Attendance on the fixed date of the physical efficiency test and record verification of successful candidates are compulsory; otherwise the candidate is treated as ineligible and is not given a second opportunity. A request for extension of time will not be accepted under any circumstance

Disqualification Criteria

1. Complicity in the criminal matter:
Candidates found to have colluded in the criminal cases arising from the circulation of the question booklet will be declared ineligible for the examination and legal action will be taken against them.
