How to Apply

1. Mode:
Online only, through the link provided on the BPSSC website www.bpssc.bih.nic.in; the application form must be purchased online at the prescribed price, which serves as the examination fee
2. Registration:
The candidate first registers with a valid and active mobile number and e-mail address, which the Commission uses for all correspondence until the last stage of recruitment
3. Documents to upload:
A colour passport-size photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm) taken within the last two months, under 25 KB, and scanned signatures in both Hindi and English in black ink on white paper, each under 25 KB
4. Cancellation of a wrong registration:
A registration or application submitted with wrong details cannot be edited; it can be cancelled through the 'View Application Status' option at https://apply-bpssc.com using an OTP, after which a fresh application may be filed, but the fee already paid is not refunded
5. Acknowledgement:
Candidates must retain a printed copy of the completed application form with photograph and quote the Application Form Number in all future correspondence

Exam Pattern

1. Question type:
All papers of the written examination consist of multiple-choice questions
2. Negative marking:
0.2 marks are deducted for each wrong answer in both stages of the examination
3. Answer sheet:
The answer sheet is in two copies, one of which is retained by the Commission
4. Minimum qualifying marks for the final merit list:
Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women candidates 32 percent; Extremely Backward Class 34 percent; Backward Class 36.5 percent; General category 40 percent
5. Physical efficiency test - run:
Men: one mile within 6 minutes 30 seconds. Women: one kilometre within 6 minutes. Candidates taking longer are declared unsuccessful
6. Physical efficiency test - high jump:
Sub-Inspector - men minimum 4 feet, women minimum 3 feet. Sergeant - men minimum 4 feet 6 inches, women minimum 3 feet
7. Physical efficiency test - long jump:
Sub-Inspector - men minimum 12 feet, women minimum 9 feet. Sergeant - men minimum 15 feet, women minimum 9 feet
8. Physical efficiency test - shot put:
Sub-Inspector - men 16 pound shot thrown at least 16 feet, women 12 pound shot thrown at least 10 feet. Sergeant - men 16 pound shot thrown at least 20 feet, women 12 pound shot thrown at least 10 feet

Selection Process

1. Stages held:
Preliminary examination, main examination and physical measurement / physical standards test, followed by the final selection list published on 14.07.2022.

Admit Card Details

1. Issue of admit cards:
After the last date, a database of all applications is prepared and admit cards for the written examination are issued to candidates by e-mail. Information about the written examination is published in newspapers and on the Commission's website in due course
