- The candidate registers with a valid and active mobile number and e-mail address; the registration number and password are sent by SMS and e-mail. Details may be edited before payment but not after
- 3. Part two of the application:
- After logging in with the registration number and password the candidate supplies father's or husband's name, mother's name, address and educational qualifications and consents to the declaration
- 4. Photograph and signature:
- A colour photograph taken within the last two months on a white background, 15 to 25 KB, in .jpg, .jpeg or .gif format, and separate signatures in Hindi and English in black or blue ink on a white background, each 15 to 25 KB in the same formats. Failure to follow these instructions results in cancellation of the application
- 5. Submission:
- Details may be edited until the application is confirmed and submitted, after which no change is permitted. A confirmation SMS or e-mail marks completion, and the candidate should print the acknowledgement on A4 paper and retain it
- 6. Cancellation of a wrong application:
- A wrongly submitted application can be cancelled and a fresh one filed, but the fee already paid is not refunded and a fresh fee is payable
- 7. No hard copy:
- The completed online application need not be sent to the Commission, but the Registration Number is required for all future correspondence and the acknowledgement copy must be attached to any correspondence

Selection Process
- 1. Scrutiny:
- Applications are scrutinised after collection, and the written competitive examination is held for the candidates whose applications are found in order
- 2. Stage 1 - Preliminary examination:
- One paper of 200 marks with 100 multiple-choice questions in 2 hours on general knowledge and current affairs. Candidates scoring below 30 percent are declared unsuccessful for the main examination. Twenty times the number of vacancies are selected category-wise in order of merit
- 3. Stage 2 - Main examination:
- Paper 1 - General Hindi, 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours; a minimum of 30 percent is compulsory, failing which the candidate is disqualified, and the marks are not counted towards merit. Paper 2 - General Studies covering general science, civics, Indian history, Indian geography, mathematics and mental ability, 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours
- 4. Stage 3 - Physical efficiency test:
- Six times the number of vacancies are called category-wise on the merit of the main written examination; the test is only qualifying
- 5. Final merit list:
- Prepared category-wise from the marks of the main written examination. Ties are resolved by date of birth (older candidate ranks higher), then by higher educational qualification, then by the alphabetical order of the name on the class 10 board certificate
- 6. Recommendation:
- The Commission sends the recommendation of the finally selected candidates to the appointing authority
- 7. Medical and character verification:
- Before appointment the appointing authority arranges the medical examination and the verification of character and antecedents of every selected candidate; an adverse report or concealment of facts renders the candidate ineligible for appointment

- 1. Validity after the centre change:
- Admit cards already issued remain valid at the newly allotted centre; candidates should reach the new centre in time with the admit card they already hold.
Reservation Details
- 1. Governing law:
- Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991 (Bihar Act 3 of 1992), as amended
- 2. Women:

Reservation Details
- 1. Governing law:
- Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991 (Bihar Act 3 of 1992), as amended
- 2. Women:
- 35 percent horizontal reservation in every reservation category against the 97 percent of posts remaining after the 3 percent reservation for women of Backward Classes; by General Administration Department memo No. 12575 dated 09.07.2025 the 35 percent horizontal reservation is available only to women who are original residents of Bihar. Women may additionally be appointed on merit over and above the 35 percent
- 3. Descendants of freedom fighters:
- 2 percent horizontal reservation for grandsons, granddaughters and other grandchildren of Bihar freedom fighters whose pension is sanctioned by the Central Government (General Administration Department resolution No. 13185 dated 03.09.2015); selected candidates are counted within their own reserved or unreserved category
- 4. Economically Weaker Sections:
- Governed by the Bihar Reservation in Vacancies in Posts and Services and in Admission in Educational Institutions (for Economically Weaker Sections) Act, 2019

- 1. At the examination centre:
- The e-admit card and one valid photo identity document - voter identity card, Aadhaar card, driving licence, PAN card or passport.

- Misconduct 3; wrong roll number on the OMR answer sheet 1,732; wrong question booklet number on the OMR 1,731; no signature on the OMR 5; Hindi or English passage not written 25 - a total of 3,496 candidates
- 2. Vacancies filled at this stage:
- All category quotas for the main examination were filled; no shortfall remains against any category
- 3. Next stage:
- Candidates selected in the preliminary examination are eligible to sit the main written examination, whose provisions and conditions are as laid down in Advertisement No. 03/2026; a separate notice about the main examination will be published
- 4. Not a merit list:
- The notice expressly asks that the published list of qualified roll numbers not be treated as a merit list
- 5. Typographical errors:
- The Commission is not responsible for printing or typographical errors in the press
- 6. Touts:
- Candidates are warned against touts and asked to inform the police about suspected persons
