The Ministry of Law and Justice has released the official notification for the Bills of Lading Act, 2025, which received the President's assent on July 24, 2025. This Act provides for the transfer of rights and liabilities to consignees and endorsees of bills of lading.

The Act received the President's assent on July 24, 2025.

3. Purpose of the Act:

To make provisions for the transfer of rights of suit and liabilities to the consignee named in a bill of lading and every endorsee.

4. Repeal of Previous Act:

The Indian Bills of Lading Act, 1856 is repealed by this new Act.

5. Central Government's Power:

The Central Government is empowered to give directions for carrying out the provisions of this Act.
