Job Details

Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a listed premier Miniratna Schedule 'A' company of the Government of India, invites online applications from Indian citizens meeting the eligibility criteria for 60 posts of Scaffolder Trainee for CSL. Candidates selected as Scaffolder Trainees undergo three months of training during which a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000 is paid. Based on organisational requirements, availability of vacancies and individual performance, successful candidates may at CSL's discretion be considered for contractual posts; in that case the consolidated pay in the first year of the contract is Rs. 20,100 per month with an annual increase in subsequent years. Scaffolders' work involves working at height and handling material within the factory premises. The minimum qualification is a pass in Class 10 and the maximum qualification is a pass in Class 12; holders of higher qualifications such as a degree, diploma or ITI are not eligible to apply. Physical requirements are specified in Annexure I, which is not part of this document.

  • Training stipend: A candidate selected as Scaffolder Trainee must undergo three months of training, during which a consolidated monthly stipend of Rs. 10,000 is paid. This is a stipend, not pay.
  • Pay on subsequent contract engagement: Based on organisational requirements, availability of vacancies and individual performance, successful candidates may be considered for contractual posts at CSL's discretion. In that case the consolidated pay during the first year of the contract is Rs. 20,100 per month, with an annual increase applicable in subsequent years.
  • Extra hours of work: Those engaged on contract are also eligible for extra hours of work beyond normal work hours.

How to Apply

1. Mode:
Online only through the SAP online portal accessible at www.cochinshipyard.in (Career page - CSL, Kochi) from 30 June 2026 to 22 July 2026. Applications submitted directly or by any other means shall not be accepted.
2. Two phases:
One time registration followed by submission of the application for the post. Applicants should not submit more than one application; an application once submitted is final.
3. Before applying:
Applicants should carefully read the user manual and FAQ published at www.cochinshipyard.in (Career page - CSL, Kochi) before filling the online application.
4. Uploads:
All certificates in proof of age, educational qualification and caste, and a recent passport size colour photograph, must be uploaded in the SAP online application portal, failing which the candidature is rejected.
5. After submission:
Verify that the application status shows 'In process' and retain a soft copy or printout carrying the system generated unique registration number, which must be quoted in any correspondence with CSL.
6. No postal submission:
Applicants need not send the printed online application, certificates or application fee by cheque, challan or DD by post to Cochin Shipyard Limited.
7. Apply early:
Those applying on the last date may not get troubleshooting or technical support on the SAP application portal by email or phone after 1600 hrs on the last date.

Selection Process

1. Method of selection:
Physical test of 100 marks.
2. Shortlisting:
Based on the number of online applications received, CSL reserves the right to scrutinise applications and shortlist candidates on the basis of eligibility ascertained from the certificates uploaded in the online portal; only shortlisted candidates may be permitted to participate in the selection process.
3. Certificate verification:
Candidates who successfully complete certificate verification are permitted to take the physical test, which will be scheduled on a later date. Original certificates and self attested copies of age, educational qualification and reservation category must be produced.
4. Minimum pass marks:
Unreserved seats and EWS candidates 50% of the total marks; OBC candidates 45% for vacancies reserved for OBC; SC/ST candidates 40% for vacancies reserved for SC/ST.
5. Relaxation of pass marks:
CSL may relax the minimum pass mark if the number of qualified candidates is insufficient.
6. Rank list:
A rank list is prepared from the marks obtained by candidates who meet the notified eligibility requirements and pass the physical test. Ties are resolved by seniority in age. Rank list validity is 18 months from the date of reporting of the last candidate advised to join, or until a fresh notification for the same post is issued.
7. Medical examination:
Candidates shortlisted for appointment must undergo a medical examination in hospitals prescribed by CSL; appointment is subject to certification of medical fitness.

Admit Card Details

1. Call letters:
Call letters shall not be sent to shortlisted candidates by post. Candidates are informed by e-mail or through the CSL website www.cochinshipyard.in to download the call letter, and the selection schedule is intimated by e-mail or on the CSL website (Career page - CSL, Kochi).

Reservation Details

1. Government directives:
Government of India directives on reservation shall apply.
2. EWS:
Applicants of the Economically Weaker Section must produce a valid Income and Asset Certificate in the prescribed format issued by a District Magistrate / Additional District Magistrate / Collector / Deputy Commissioner / Additional Deputy Commissioner / 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate / Sub-Divisional Magistrate / Taluka Magistrate / Executive Magistrate / Additional Assistant Commissioner; or Chief Presidency Magistrate / Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate / Presidency Magistrate; or a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tahsildar; or the Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and/or family normally resides.
3. SC / ST / OBC:
Applicants belonging to SC, ST or OBC (Non Creamy Layer) must produce a valid and recent community certificate issued by a Revenue Authority not below the rank of Tahsildar, failing which the candidature is not considered against the reserved seat or for other concessions and relaxations applicable to the category.

Important Instructions

1. No TA/DA:
No travel allowance or dearness allowance is paid to candidates for participating in the selection process.
