Job Details
Cochin Shipyard Limited (CSL), a listed premier Miniratna Schedule 'A' Company of the Government of India, invites online applications from Indian citizens fulfilling the eligibility requirements for filling up posts of Ship Design Assistant on contract basis for CSL. Two disciplines are notified - Mechanical and Electrical. The contract tenure is three years, extendable for a further period of two years subject to organisational requirements and individual performance. Posting is at CSL or at project sites as desired by CSL, and the appointment carries an obligation to serve in any department of CSL, on board ships, or at any work site or project undertaken by CSL. Candidates without design experience are told not to apply, and preference is given to candidates with ship design experience.

Selection Process
- 1. Assessment:
- Proficiency in design relevant to the job shall be assessed through a practical test, as decided by CSL
- 2. Practical test:
- Practical test shall be out of 100 marks and shall be held at CSL, Kochi. The practical test shall be conducted in CAD software.
- 3. Minimum pass mark:
- Unreserved posts and EWS candidates 50% of total marks; OBC candidates 45% of total marks only for vacancies reserved for OBC; SC candidates 40% of total marks only for vacancies reserved for SC
- 4. Relaxation of pass mark:
- CSL may relax the minimum pass mark if the number of qualified candidates is insufficient
- 5. Certificate verification:
- Selection is subject to verification of eligibility requirements. Candidates who successfully complete the certificate verification shall only be permitted to attend the Practical Test, which shall be scheduled on a later date.
- 6. Rank list:
- Rank lists for each post shall be prepared based on marks secured by candidates meeting the notified eligibility requirements and who pass the practical test. In case of a tie, relative merit shall be decided based on seniority in age.
- 7. Rank list validity:
- Validity of the rank list shall be up to 18 months from the date of reporting of the last candidate advised to join on publication of the result, or until a fresh notification for the same post is issued
- 8. Medical examination:
- Candidates short-listed for appointment should undergo a medical examination in hospitals prescribed by CSL; appointment is subject to certification of medical fitness

Document Requirements
- 1. At certificate verification:
- Original certificates in proof of age, educational qualification, experience and reservation category, along with self-attested copies, must be produced at the time of certificate verification, failing which the candidate shall not be considered for further selection
- 2. Proof of experience:
- Applicants presently working in any company, in the absence of an experience certificate, should submit a copy of the appointment or offer letter, latest pay slip or copy of last pay drawn. For past employment, an experience certificate indicating the date of joining and relieving should be submitted.
- 3. Ex-servicemen:
- Should submit Discharge Certificate / Book / Pension Payment Order from the Armed Forces, along with certificates indicating qualification and work experience in the relevant trade
