- Final selection is in order of merit subject to medical fitness, suitability, and availability of vacancies.

Admit Card Details

- SSC(NT) Men and SSC(NT) Women are separate entries; written results and final merit lists are prepared separately as per vacancies notified.

- Original Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate (date of birth proof) and Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate/Marksheets.

- 1. Preparation Strategy:
- Candidates should focus on understanding the syllabus, practicing previous years' question papers, and taking regular mock tests to evaluate their preparation levels.
Important Instructions
- 1. Mobile phones banned:
- Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, programmable devices, storage media, cameras, etc., are strictly prohibited in the exam venue.
- 2. Reporting time:
- Reach the venue well in time; no late entry will be allowed and candidates should arrive at least 30 minutes before commencement of each session.

- 3. AFA (Air Force):
- Approx. 74 weeks for Flying Branch; stipend Rs 56,100 per month during training with AFGIS cover as per notice.
- 4. OTA (Army):
- Approx. 49 weeks pre-commission training; SSC granted on successful completion.
Bond or Service Agreement
- 1. Undertaking not to marry during training:
- Candidates must undertake not to marry until completion of full training; marriage during training leads to discharge and recovery of Government expenditure.
- 2. Refund bond (IMA/OTA):
- Parent/guardian must execute a bond agreeing to refund cost of training, food, clothing, pay and allowances if the candidate withdraws before completion or declines commission if offered.
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. Unfair means/misconduct:
- Impersonation, procuring impersonation, submitting fabricated documents, using banned devices, influencing examiners, obscene matter in scripts, misbehaviour in hall, etc., invite disqualification/debarment and possible prosecution.
- 2. Banned items:
- Possession/use of mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, or any communication/storage devices will lead to disciplinary action and debarment.
Probation Period
- 1. OTA SSC probation:
- An officer will be on probation for 6 months from the date of commission (as per OTA terms in the notice).

- Permanent body tattoos permitted only on inner face of forearm (inside of elbow to wrist) and dorsal side of hand; tribal customs considered case-by-case.

- 1. Rounding of marks:
- Marks obtained shall be rounded off up to two decimal digits at all stage(s) of the examination.

- Higher written total (English+GK+Elementary Mathematics) ranks higher; if still tied, higher marks in General Knowledge; if still tied, senior in age ranks higher.
- 3. Tie-breaking (OTA):
- Higher written total (English+General Knowledge) ranks higher; then higher marks in General Knowledge; then senior in age.
How to Apply
- 1. Portal:
- Apply online via https://upsconline.nic.in using the new modules—Account Creation, Universal Registration, Common Application Form, and examination-specific module.
- 2. Documents:
- Upload supporting documents (date of birth, educational qualification, category claims, etc.) as part of the online application.
- 3. Photo ID:
- Enter details of a valid Photo ID in the application and carry the same ID for Examination/Personality Test/SSB.
- 4. Aadhaar advisory:
- Applicants are strongly advised to use Aadhaar as ID for seamless verification.
- 5. No corrections:
- No correction/addition/alteration will be allowed after submission and closure of application window.
Exam Pattern
- 1. Scheme (IMA/INA/AFA):
- Three papers—English (100 marks, 2 hours), General Knowledge (100 marks, 2 hours), Elementary Mathematics (100 marks, 2 hours).
- 2. Scheme (OTA):
- Two papers—English (100 marks, 2 hours) and General Knowledge (100 marks, 2 hours).
- 3. Objective type:
- All papers are objective type; GK and Elementary Mathematics are set bilingually (Hindi and English).
- 4. Negative marking:
- Penalty of 1/3 (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question for each wrong answer; multiple answers treated as wrong; no penalty for unanswered.
- 5. OMR and pen:
- Use black ball pen only for OMR; calculators are not permitted.
- 6. QPRep window:
- Representations on question papers can be submitted online within 7 days (from next day of exam till 6:00 PM of the 7th day) via QPRep portal.
Syllabus Details
- 1. English (Code 11):
- Designed to test candidates’ understanding of English and workmanlike use of words.
- 2. General Knowledge (Code 12):
- Covers current events, history, geography, and matters of everyday observation/scientific aspects appropriate for an educated person.
- 3. Elementary Mathematics (Code 13):
- Arithmetic, Algebra, Trigonometry, Geometry, Mensuration, and Statistics (as detailed in Appendix-I).
Selection Process
- 1. Written examination:
- UPSC will fix minimum qualifying marks for the written exam at its discretion.
- 2. SSB interview:
- Qualified candidates will be detailed for intelligence and personality test at the Services Selection Board (two-stage selection: Stage I OIR+PP&DT; Stage II Interview, Group Testing, Psychology, Conference).
- 3. Army registration:
- Written-qualified candidates with first choice as Army (IMA/OTA) must register on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in for SSB call-up.
- 4. Merit and medical:
- Final selection is in order of merit subject to medical fitness, suitability, and availability of vacancies.
- 5. Tie-breakers:
- As per tie-breaking rules specified in the notice; marks rounded to two decimals.
Admit Card Details
- 1. Release timeline:
- e-Admit Card will be available about a week before the exam on https://upsconline.nic.in / https://upsc.gov.in.
- 2. Mode:
- No admit card by post/email; candidates must download and print e-Admit Card.
- 3. ID requirement:
- Carry e-Admit Card and the same Photo ID whose details are provided in the application.
- 4. Discrepancies:
- Check e-Admit Card carefully and report discrepancies to UPSC immediately.
Reservation Details
- 1. NCC ‘C’ Certificate reservations:
- IMA includes 13 vacancies for NCC ‘C’ (Army Wing); INA includes 06 NCC ‘C’ (Naval Wing) and 02 Hydro; AFA includes 03 NCC ‘C’ (Air Wing) via NCC Special Entry. Unfilled reserved NCC vacancies will be treated as unreserved.
- 2. SSC(NT) preparation of lists:
- SSC(NT) Men and SSC(NT) Women are separate entries; written results and final merit lists are prepared separately as per vacancies notified.
Document Requirements
- 1. For SSB and verification:
- Original Matriculation/Secondary School Examination Certificate (date of birth proof) and Degree/Provisional Degree Certificate/Marksheets.
- 2. Final-year candidates:
- Bonafide certificate from University/College at SSB stating ability to submit proof of passing by the specified date.
Preparation Tips
- 1. Preparation Strategy:
- Candidates should focus on understanding the syllabus, practicing previous years' question papers, and taking regular mock tests to evaluate their preparation levels.
Important Instructions
- 1. Mobile phones banned:
- Mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, programmable devices, storage media, cameras, etc., are strictly prohibited in the exam venue.
- 2. Reporting time:
- Reach the venue well in time; no late entry will be allowed and candidates should arrive at least 30 minutes before commencement of each session.
- 3. OMR care:
- Ensure correct encoding of Roll Number and Test Booklet Series on OMR; errors can lead to rejection of the answer sheet.
- 4. Ceiling on centres:
- Centres have capacity ceilings (except Chennai, Dispur, Kolkata, Nagpur); allotment is first-apply-first-allot; apply early to get preferred centre.
Interview Details
- 1. SSB schedule:
- Candidates qualifying for IMA/INA/AFA will be detailed for SSB in Feb–Mar 2026; those qualifying for SSC (OTA) only will be detailed in Apr–Jun 2026.
- 2. Call letters and contact:
- Army/Navy/Air Force HQs issue SSB call-ups as per first choice; Army first-choice candidates must register on www.joinindianarmy.nic.in.
Training Details
- 1. IMA (Army):
- Approx. 18 months training; stipend Rs 56,100 per month during training; terms per Appendix-IV.
- 2. INA (Navy):
- Naval Orientation Course at INA (44 weeks) followed by afloat phases; cadets commissioned as Sub-Lieutenant after ~18 months.
- 3. AFA (Air Force):
- Approx. 74 weeks for Flying Branch; stipend Rs 56,100 per month during training with AFGIS cover as per notice.
- 4. OTA (Army):
- Approx. 49 weeks pre-commission training; SSC granted on successful completion.
Bond or Service Agreement
- 1. Undertaking not to marry during training:
- Candidates must undertake not to marry until completion of full training; marriage during training leads to discharge and recovery of Government expenditure.
- 2. Refund bond (IMA/OTA):
- Parent/guardian must execute a bond agreeing to refund cost of training, food, clothing, pay and allowances if the candidate withdraws before completion or declines commission if offered.
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. Unfair means/misconduct:
- Impersonation, procuring impersonation, submitting fabricated documents, using banned devices, influencing examiners, obscene matter in scripts, misbehaviour in hall, etc., invite disqualification/debarment and possible prosecution.
- 2. Banned items:
- Possession/use of mobile phones, smart watches, Bluetooth devices, calculators, or any communication/storage devices will lead to disciplinary action and debarment.
Probation Period
- 1. OTA SSC probation:
- An officer will be on probation for 6 months from the date of commission (as per OTA terms in the notice).
Other Information
- 1. Tattoo policy:
- Permanent body tattoos permitted only on inner face of forearm (inside of elbow to wrist) and dorsal side of hand; tribal customs considered case-by-case.
- 2. Centre change:
- No change of examination centre is granted after submission of application.
