Salary Details

> Salary Range: 56,100 - ₹ Monthly

> Grade Pay: Pay Matrix Level 10 on commissioning; stipend during training Rs. 56,100/- p.m. (Level 10 start).

> Allowances: MSP Rs. 15,500 p.m.; Field/Hardship and Risk/Hardship area allowances as per matrix; DA as applicable; Transport Allowance Rs. 7,200 + DA in higher TPTA cities or Rs. 3,600 + DA at other places; Children Education Allowance Rs. 2,250 p.m. per child (two eldest); Hostel Subsidy Rs. 6,750 p.m. per child; Dress Allowance Rs. 20,000 per year; Rations in kind.

How to Apply

1. Portal & modules:
Create account, complete Universal Registration Number (URN), fill Common Application Form (CAF), then fill Examination Specific Module during the application window at https://upsconline.nic.in.
2. Live photo & uploads:
Upload a photograph and capture a live photograph during CAF; upload signatures (three times on white paper in black ink) as per portal instructions.
3. Photo ID:
Provide details of one valid Photo ID (Aadhaar/Voter ID/PAN/Passport/Driving License/School ID/other Government ID) in URN Profile and carry the same for Examination/SSB.
4. Edits/withdrawal:
No correction/alteration in the Application Form and no withdrawal after submission. One-time edit facility is available only for the URN Profile (not for already submitted applications).

Exam Pattern

1. Written examination structure:
Two papers — Mathematics (Code 01) 2½ hours, 300 marks; General Ability Test (Code 02) 2½ hours, 600 marks; objective type; total 900 marks.
2. Medium of papers:
Mathematics and Part B of General Ability Test are set bilingually in Hindi and English.
3. Marking scheme:
Negative marking applies; 1/3rd (0.33) of the marks assigned to a question will be deducted for each wrong answer.
4. OMR and pen:
Use black ball pen only for writing and marking OMR answers; pencil/ink pen not permitted.
5. Calculators:
Use of calculators, mathematical/log tables and drawing instruments is not permitted.
6. SSB/Interview:
SSB Test/Interview carries 900 marks; two-stage selection with Stage I (OIR + PP&DT) and Stage II (Interview, GTO Tasks, Psychology Tests, Conference).

Syllabus Details

1. Mathematics:
Algebra; Matrices & Determinants; Trigonometry; Analytical Geometry (2D & 3D); Differential Calculus; Integral Calculus & Differential Equations; Vector Algebra; Statistics & Probability.
2. English:
Grammar and usage, vocabulary, comprehension and cohesion in extended text to test workmanlike use of English.
3. General Knowledge:
Physics, Chemistry, General Science, History & Freedom Movement, Geography, Current Events. Approx weightage in Part B: Physics 25%, Chemistry 15%, General Science 10%, History 20%, Geography 20%, Current Events 10%.

Selection Process

1. Stages:
Written examination followed by SSB Interview (two-stage selection: Stage I OIR + PP&DT; Stage II Interview, GTO tasks, Psychology tests, Conference).
2. Air Force CPSS:
Candidates opting for Air Force and qualifying SSB must undergo CPSS; those failed/not tested (HWG) may be considered for Air Force Ground Duties if willing.
3. Minimum qualifying:
Candidates must secure minimum qualifying marks separately in the written examination (as fixed by UPSC) and in the Officer Potentiality Test (as fixed by SSB).
4. Tie-breaking & rounding:
Marks rounded to two decimals; ties resolved by higher written total, then higher GAT marks, then seniority in age, else at Commission’s discretion.

Admit Card Details

1. Issuance:
Eligible candidates will be issued e-Admit Cards on the last working day of the preceding week of the exam date at https://upsconline.nic.in; no admit cards by post/email.
2. Verification at venue:
Face authentication/identity verification and frisking are mandatory at the examination venue; carry the same Photo ID as in URN Profile.

Reservation Details

1. Gender balance:
Government strives to have a workforce reflecting gender balance and women candidates are encouraged to apply.

Document Requirements

1. At application stage:
Upload prescribed photograph, live photograph, and signatures (three times) as per portal instructions; provide valid Photo ID details in URN Profile.
2. At SSB:
Carry original Matriculation and 10+2 pass certificates (or acceptable originals); those unable to produce originals at SSB must send self-attested photocopies to Army HQ/Naval HQ by 10th June 2027.
3. Fee exemption proof:
Wards of JCOs/NCOs/ORs claiming fee exemption must produce certificate from the Principal at SSB.

Important Instructions

1. Mobile phones/electronics:
Use/possession of mobile phones, smart/digital watches, Bluetooth devices or any electronic/programmable device is strictly prohibited; no safe-keeping arrangement at centres.
2. Centre entry closure:
Entry closes 30 minutes before commencement of each session; no entry after closure under any circumstance.
3. Black ball pen only:
Use black ball pen only for OMR answers; errors in encoding Roll No. or Booklet Series render the sheet liable for rejection.
4. First-apply-first-allot:
Centres have capacity limits; once full, candidates must choose from remaining centres.

Training Details

1. NDA training:
3 years of joint academic and physical training at NDA; degrees awarded by JNU — Army: B.Sc./B.Sc.(Computer)/B.A.; Naval: B.Tech; Air Force: B.Tech/B.Sc./B.Sc.(Computer).
2. Naval Academy (10+2):
Four-year B.Tech at Indian Naval Academy, Ezhimala for 10+2 Cadet Entry Scheme.
3. Post-NDA training:
Army cadets to IMA Dehradun; Naval cadets to INA Ezhimala; Air Force cadets to AFA Hyderabad (Ground Duty–Tech to AFTC Bengaluru).

Bond or Service Agreement

1. Parental certificate & bond:
Before joining, parent/guardian must sign a certificate on liability/consent and a bond to reimburse training costs if the cadet is dismissed/discharged/withdrawn or refuses commission for reasons within control.

Disqualification Criteria

1. Unfair means/misconduct:
Impersonation, procuring impersonation, submitting fabricated/tampered documents, uploading incorrect photos/signatures, using unfair means, possession/use of prohibited devices, disorderly conduct, influencing examiners, or violating instructions may attract action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, including debarment and legal action.

Probation Period

1. Air Force probation:
On successful completion of training at AFA, Air Force Flying Branch and Ground Duties cadets are granted Permanent Commission on probation for approximately six months.
