How to Apply
- 1. Where to apply:
- The online method has been adopted. The process of filling the online application begins on 05-10-2023. Visit the Bihar Police Subordinate Services Commission website bpssc.bih.nic.in and click the link relating to Advt. No. 02/2023; the application process begins from the application link on that page. The prescribed method and procedure are described in detail on the Commission's website
- 2. Registration prerequisites:
- Before registering and paying, keep a valid and active mobile number and e-mail address, so far as possible registered in the candidate's own name. Both are compulsory for registration. Candidates without an e-mail address must create one, since important information is shared by e-mail and mobile phone while filling the application and during the selection process
- 3. Communication:
- Until the final stage of recruitment the Commission communicates only on the mobile number and e-mail address given at registration. The Commission is not responsible for a wrong, invalid or disconnected mobile number or e-mail address
- 4. One application per mobile number:
- Only one application can be filled from one mobile number. The mobile phone must be with the candidate while filling the form, because the registration ID and password are sent by SMS to that number and also to the registered e-mail address
- 5. One application per candidate:
- A candidate may fill only one online application. If a candidate fills more than one, all of that candidate's applications are rejected. Candidates who apply on a false name or address are treated as ineligible and face strict legal action
- 6. Part one of the form - registration:
- In the first part of the online application the candidate is registered: name, nationality, mobile number, e-mail address, Bihar domicile, reservation category, gender and date of birth are taken. The payment process must then be completed. On successful registration a registration number and password are sent at once by SMS and e-mail. Before payment the applicant may edit the particulars
- 7. Cancelling a registration:
- If the registration was made with wrong particulars, they cannot be edited after payment. In that situation the applicant may use the Cancel Registration Form provision to cancel the registration, but the application fee already paid is not returned and the fee must be paid again for a fresh registration
- 8. Part two of the form:
- After logging in with the registration number and password, the second part of the online application requires the correct particulars of father's or husband's name, mother's name, address and educational qualification, and agreement to the declaration
- 9. Photograph and signature:
- The photograph must be in colour, taken within the last two months, on a white background, between 15 and 25 KB, in .jpg / .jpeg / .gif format; the signature must be given separately in English and in Hindi in black or blue ink, between 15 and 25 KB, in .jpg / .jpeg / .gif format on a white background. Both must be scanned and uploaded. If the instructions on the photograph and signature are not followed, the online application is cancelled
- 10. Editing and submission:
- After the photograph and signature are uploaded and before the completed online application is finally submitted, the applicant may click the Edit Details button and edit. Once confirmed and submitted, the particulars cannot be edited. After submission a confirmation SMS or e-mail is received on the registered mobile number and e-mail address, and only then is the application process treated as complete. The Commission allows no change of any kind after final submission
- 11. Acknowledgement:
- The applicant should print the acknowledgement of the filled application on A4 paper, check it carefully and produce it in any future correspondence or when it is asked for
- 12. Accuracy of particulars:
- The candidate must state the date of birth exactly as in the original certificate of the 10th or equivalent board examination, and must fill name, father's or husband's name and address entirely correctly. If any difference is found when the particulars are matched against the certificates, the candidature is cancelled. A candidate who enters a wrong reservation category has the candidature cancelled, so applicants should be entirely sure of the class or category to which they belong
Exam Pattern
- 1. Structure:
- The written competitive examination is held in two phases, preliminary and mains. All papers of the written examination are based on multiple-choice questions
- 2. Phase 1 - preliminary examination:

- 3. Phase 1 - shortlisting for the mains:
- On the basis of the marks obtained in the preliminary examination, successful candidates numbering 20 times the vacancies are selected in order of merit and category-wise. If a sufficient number of qualified candidates is not available for the mains written examination, this ratio may be suitably reduced
- 4. Phase 2 - mains examination, first paper:
- General Hindi, 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours. A minimum qualifying mark of 30 percent is compulsory, failing which the candidate is declared ineligible. The marks of the General Hindi paper are not added when determining merit
- 5. Phase 2 - mains examination, second paper:
- General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics and a mental ability test. Total 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours
- 6. Negative marking:
- In the examination of both phases 0.2 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. The answer sheet is in two copies, one of which is kept in the safe custody of the Commission
- 7. Phase 3 - shortlisting for the physical efficiency test:
- On the basis of the mains written examination, candidates numbering 6 times the vacancies are selected category-wise in order of merit for the physical efficiency test.

- 2. Referenced earlier notice:

- 3. Text quality:
- This single-page Hindi notice extracted very badly: most of the page came out as scrambled Latin fragments. The advertisement number 2/2023, the referenced date 09.07.2024, the words Marksheet Download, the window 19.08.2024 to 27.08.2024, the word De-activate, the Commission's address at 5, Hardinge Road, Patna-800001, the website www.bpssc.bih.nic.in and the letter number and date 19.08.2024 were legible; the connecting Hindi prose was not, so the summary states only what could be read with confidence
