The Union Public Service Commission (UPSC) has released the official notification for the Engineering Services Examination (ESE) 2026. This notification details the application process, eligibility criteria, examination schedule, and other important instructions for candidates aspiring to join various engineering services under the Government of India.

1. Application Period:

The application window for the Engineering Services Examination 2026 is open from September 26, 2025, to October 16, 2025. Candidates must apply online through the UPSC portal.

2. Examination Date:

The Preliminary Examination for the Engineering Services will be conducted on February 8, 2026.

3. Total Number of Vacancies:

Approximately 474 vacancies are expected to be filled through this examination, including 26 vacancies reserved for Persons with Benchmark Disabilities (PwBD).

4. Eligibility Criteria:

Candidates must hold a degree in Engineering from a recognized university and be between 21 and 30 years of age as of January 1, 2026. Age relaxations apply for reserved categories.

5. Application Fee:

An application fee of ₹200 is applicable for General and OBC candidates. SC/ST/PwBD and female candidates are exempted from paying the fee.
