Job Details

POWERGRID (a Maharatna PSU) invites applications for Engineer Trainee-2026 in Electrical, Electronics, Civil and Computer Science through GATE 2026. Candidates must qualify the corresponding GATE 2026 paper and meet degree requirements (minimum 60% or equivalent CGPA; final-year candidates with results by 14.08.2026 may apply). Upper age is 28 years as on 31.12.2025 with relaxations for reserved categories as per GoI. Selection comprises shortlisting by normalized GATE 2026 score, followed by Group Discussion and Personal Interview (PI qualifying marks: 40% UR/EWS; 30% OBC/SC/ST/PwBD for reserved posts); GD has no qualifying marks. Psychometric assessment may be used as input during interviews; tie-breaking is by date of birth (elder first). Medical fitness as per POWERGRID norms is mandatory. During a one-year training, basic pay is Rs. 40,000 in the IDA scale Rs. 40,000–3%–1,40,000 with IDA, HRA and perks @12% of basic; approximate CTC is Rs. 11.00 lakhs p.a. On successful completion, candidates are absorbed as Engineer in E2 scale Rs. 50,000–3%–1,60,000 with a comprehensive benefits package. A service bond of Rs. 5,00,000 (Gen/OBC(NCL)/EWS) or Rs. 2,50,000 (SC/ST/PwBD) applies. Job Summary

Recruitment of fresh engineering graduates as Engineer Trainees-2026 in Electrical, Electronics, Civil and Computer Science through GATE 2026. Candidates need 60% in relevant BE/BTech/BSc(Engg), must be under 28 years as on 31.12.2025, and will be selected via GATE 2026 score, GD and PI. Training pay is in the Rs. 40,000–1,40,000 (IDA) scale with approx. Rs. 11 LPA CTC; on absorption, E2 scale Rs. 50,000–1,60,000 with approx. Rs. 22.5 LPA CTC; online applications tentatively Feb/March 2026.

Selection Process

3. Weightage:
GATE 2026: 85%; Group Discussion: 3%; Personal Interview: 12%.
4. PI qualifying marks:
UR/EWS: 40%; OBC(NCL)/SC/ST/PwBD: 30% (for posts reserved for the corresponding category).
5. GD qualifying:
Group Discussion has no qualifying marks.
6. Other conditions:

8. OBC(NCL) validity:
OBC(NCL) certificate based on income for FY 2022-23, 2023-24 and 2024-25, issued on/after 01.04.2025; self-undertaking to be given at PI if shortlisted.
9. EWS validity:
EWS Income & Asset Certificate based on FY 2024-25 income, issued on/after 01.04.2025; caste name must be clearly mentioned.
10. PwBD documentation:
PwBD to submit medical certificate in prescribed format and UDID card/certificate.

Document Requirements

1. GATE documents:
GATE 2026 Admit Card and Score Card to be produced during GD/Interview/medical/joining.
2. SC/ST certificate:
Caste certificate in GoI prescribed format for appointment to posts under Govt. of India.
3. OBC(NCL) certificate:
Based on FY 2022-23, 2023-24 & 2024-25 income, issued on/after 01.04.2025; self-undertaking at PI if shortlisted.
4. EWS certificate:
Income & Asset Certificate based on FY 2024-25, issued on/after 01.04.2025 with caste name clearly mentioned.
5. PwBD certificate & UDID:
Medical certificate in prescribed format issued by Government Medical Board and UDID card/certificate.
6. NOC:
No Objection Certificate at the time of Interview for candidates working in Govt. organizations/PSUs.
7. Translations:
Certified translation in Hindi or English if caste/category certificate is issued in another language.

Important Instructions

1. Eligibility check:
