How to Apply
- 1. Mode:
- Online only, through the On-line Registration System of POWERGRID at http://www.powergrid.in; no other means or mode of application is accepted
- 2. Prerequisites:
- A valid e-mail ID, an alternate e-mail ID and a mobile number are mandatory, and must be kept active for at least one year
- 3. One application per post:
- Only one application per post; it may be edited or updated until the last date of submission and cannot be altered afterwards. If more than one application is submitted for the same post, only the one with the latest registration number is considered
- 4. Region choice:
- Apply for any one Entity/Region only; the option cannot be changed under any circumstances once submitted
- 5. Hard copies:
- Candidates are not required to forward hard copies of applications to POWERGRID
- 6. Print-out:
- Take a print-out of the submitted online application and note the user ID, password and registration number generated at registration; the print-out is required at document verification
Exam Pattern
- 1. Mode:
- Written Test / Computer Based Test, objective type with four answer options per question
- 2. Duration:
- 2 hours (extra time allowed to PwD/PwBD candidates as per Government of India directives)
- 3. Structure:
- Part-I Professional Knowledge Test (PKT) - 120 questions; Part-II Aptitude Test (AT) - 50 questions
- 4. Marking:
- All questions carry equal marks (1 mark); wrong and multiple answers attract a negative mark of one-quarter
- 5. Qualifying criteria - unreserved / EWS vacancies:
- Minimum 30% in each of Part-I and Part-II separately, and minimum 40% marks in aggregate
- 6. Qualifying criteria - reserved vacancies:
- Minimum 25% in each of Part-I and Part-II separately, and minimum 30% marks in aggregate
- 7. Single session:
- The Computer Based Test is conducted on a single day in a single session for all Entities and Regions
- 8. Re-evaluation:
- There is no provision for re-checking or re-evaluation of response sheets or answers
Selection Process
- 1. Stage reached:
- Computer Based Test result declared; candidates shortlisted for document verification and Computer Skill Test
- 2. Basis of shortlisting:
- Region-wise and category-wise cut-off marks in the Computer Based Test as per the eligibility criteria mentioned in the advertisement
- 3. Not a final selection list:
- The candidates named are shortlisted for a further round; this notice does not announce final selection
Admit Card Details
- 1. Call letters:
- Call letters and other related documents for document verification and the Computer Skill Test are made available in the e-mail of shortlisted candidates, who should check their e-mail for the reporting date, time and venue
Reservation Details
- 1. Basis:
- Reservation, relaxation and concession to OBC (NCL), EWS, SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-SM, DEx-SM and victims of riots are as per Government of India directives
- 2. Horizontal reservation:
- PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities), Ex-SM (Ex-Servicemen) and DEx-SM (Disabled Ex-Servicemen / dependants of Ex-Servicemen severely disabled or killed in action) are horizontal reservations
- 3. PwBD threshold:
- Persons suffering from not less than 40% of the relevant disability are eligible; a disability certificate in the Government of India format must be uploaded
- 4. Certificate validity date:
- Candidates claiming reservation under OBC (NCL)/EWS must belong to the respective category as on the last date of online submission and hold a valid certificate as on the closing date
- 5. Unreserved vacancies:
- SC/ST/EWS/OBC (NCL) candidates may apply for Unreserved vacancies subject to meeting all general standards of eligibility
- 6. Language of certificates:
- A caste or category certificate issued in a language other than Hindi or English must be accompanied by a certified translation at document verification

Important Instructions
- 1. Candidature provisional:
- Candidature at all stages of the selection process is provisional; mere submission of an application does not guarantee adequacy of candidature
- 2. Eligibility self-check:
- The online application form does not check eligibility; applications in which the essential qualification or age cannot be fully ascertained are liable for rejection
- 3. CGPA conversion:
- Where grades or CGPA are awarded, the equivalent percentage as per the university/institute norms must be indicated. If the institution has no conversion scheme, the equivalence is the candidate's CGPA divided by the maximum possible CGPA, multiplied by 100. Marks in the essential qualification are not rounded off for deciding eligibility
- 4. Inter-region transfer:
- Candidates joining in a Region are not entitled to inter-region transfer requests, but are liable to be posted at the discretion of management at any of the company's offices, establishments or units, or any other government department, statutory body or public sector undertaking anywhere in India or abroad
- 5. Travel reimbursement:
- SC/ST/PwBD candidates are reimbursed sleeper class rail fare or bus fare by the shortest route for to-and-fro travel to the Computer Based Test on production of the ticket and a self-attested category certificate, restricted to the distance between the address for communication and the test centre; bank details must be filled in the online application to enable online TA payment
- 6. Management discretion:
- Management reserves the right to cancel, restrict, enlarge, modify or alter the recruitment/selection process without notice, and to raise or lower qualifying standards at any stage depending on the availability of sufficient candidates
- 7. Data sharing consent:
- By submitting the application the candidate consents to candidate data being shared with a third party for the conduct and evaluation of the Computer Based Test, with adequate security
- 8. Communication:
- All information regarding the recruitment is available only in the career section of the POWERGRID website; no separate communication is made. Once registered, all correspondence is through the registered e-mail ID, SMS or candidate login
- 9. Test centres:
- POWERGRID reserves the right to alter the test centres; in exceptional circumstances a nearby different city may be allotted
- 10. Legal jurisdiction:

Training Details
- 1. Induction level:
- Supervisor Trainee (ST) for an initial one-year training period
- 2. On completion:
- Designated Junior Officer (HR) Gr-IV at S1 level in the supervisory category
Bond or Service Agreement
- 1. Service agreement bond:
- Rs. 2,50,000 for General/OBC (NCL)/EWS candidates and Rs. 1,25,000 for SC/ST/PwBD candidates
- 2. Minimum service:
- Three years after successful completion of training
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. Higher qualification:
- Possessing a PG Degree/PG Diploma or equivalent higher qualification at the time of application or joining; a false declaration on this point renders the application liable for rejection and, if appointed, services liable for termination at any stage
- 2. False or misleading information:
- Candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage without notice, and services terminated if joined, where information provided is not in conformity with the notified eligibility criteria, or where qualification, experience or other particulars are found not recognised, false or misleading, or amount to suppression of information, or where employment has been secured by unfair means
- 3. Ex-Servicemen equivalency:
- Ex-Servicemen must produce a certificate issued by the respective Armed Forces stating that their experience/training has been equated to the required level of qualification, failing which their candidature will not be considered

- 1. Identifying information withheld:
- The notice lists candidate registration IDs only (no names). Individual registration IDs have deliberately not been transcribed; only per-region counts are recorded.
