How to Apply

1. Mode:
Online only, through the On-line Registration System of POWERGRID at http://www.powergrid.in; no other means or mode of application is accepted
2. Prerequisites:
A valid e-mail ID, an alternate e-mail ID and a mobile number are mandatory, and must be kept active for at least one year
3. One application per post:
Only one application per post; it may be edited or updated until the last date of submission and cannot be altered afterwards. If more than one application is submitted for the same post, only the one with the latest registration number is considered
4. Region choice:
Apply for any one Entity/Region only; the option cannot be changed under any circumstances once submitted
5. Hard copies:
Candidates are not required to forward hard copies of applications to POWERGRID
6. Print-out:
Take a print-out of the submitted online application and note the user ID, password and registration number generated at registration; the print-out is required at document verification

Exam Pattern

Written Test / Computer Based Test, objective type with four answer options per question

1. Basis:
Reservation, relaxation and concession to OBC (NCL), EWS, SC, ST, PwBD, Ex-SM, DEx-SM and victims of riots are as per Government of India directives
2. Horizontal reservation:
PwBD (Persons with Benchmark Disabilities), Ex-SM (Ex-Servicemen) and DEx-SM (Disabled Ex-Servicemen / dependants of Ex-Servicemen severely disabled or killed in action) are horizontal reservations
3. PwBD threshold:
Persons suffering from not less than 40% of the relevant disability are eligible; a disability certificate in the Government of India format must be uploaded

Important Instructions

1. Candidature provisional:
Candidature at all stages of the selection process is provisional; mere submission of an application does not guarantee adequacy of candidature
2. Eligibility self-check:
The online application form does not check eligibility; applications in which the essential qualification or age cannot be fully ascertained are liable for rejection
3. CGPA conversion:
Where grades or CGPA are awarded, the equivalent percentage as per the university/institute norms must be indicated. If the institution has no conversion scheme, the equivalence is the candidate's CGPA divided by the maximum possible CGPA, multiplied by 100. Marks in the essential qualification are not rounded off for deciding eligibility
4. Inter-region transfer:
Candidates joining in a Region are not entitled to inter-region transfer requests, but are liable to be posted at the discretion of management at any of the company's offices, establishments or units, or any other government department, statutory body or public sector undertaking anywhere in India or abroad
5. Travel reimbursement:
SC/ST/PwBD candidates are reimbursed sleeper class rail fare or bus fare by the shortest route for to-and-fro travel to the Computer Based Test on production of the ticket and a self-attested category certificate, restricted to the distance between the address for communication and the test centre; bank details must be filled in the online application to enable online TA payment
6. Management discretion:
Management reserves the right to cancel, restrict, enlarge, modify or alter the recruitment/selection process without notice, and to raise or lower qualifying standards at any stage depending on the availability of sufficient candidates
7. Data sharing consent:
By submitting the application the candidate consents to candidate data being shared with a third party for the conduct and evaluation of the Computer Based Test, with adequate security
8. Communication:

Bond or Service Agreement

1. Service agreement bond:

Disqualification Criteria

1. Higher qualification:
Possessing a PG Degree/PG Diploma or equivalent higher qualification at the time of application or joining; a false declaration on this point renders the application liable for rejection and, if appointed, services liable for termination at any stage
2. False or misleading information:
Candidature is liable to be rejected at any stage without notice, and services terminated if joined, where information provided is not in conformity with the notified eligibility criteria, or where qualification, experience or other particulars are found not recognised, false or misleading, or amount to suppression of information, or where employment has been secured by unfair means
3. Ex-Servicemen equivalency:
Ex-Servicemen must produce a certificate issued by the respective Armed Forces stating that their experience/training has been equated to the required level of qualification, failing which their candidature will not be considered
