How to Apply

1. Mode:
Online only, through the link on the Commission's website www.bpssc.bih.nic.in; the application portal is https://apply-bpssc.com.
2. Step 1 - registration:
The candidate registers with a valid active mobile number and personal e-mail address, giving name as in the matriculation certificate, nationality, domicile, category and date of birth.
3. Step 2 - payment:
After registration the fee is paid online; the registration ID received by SMS is also the application ID.
4. Step 3 - application form:
Personal details, educational qualifications and address are entered, and a colour passport-size photograph (3.5 cm x 4.5 cm, under 25 KB) and signatures in both Hindi and English (each under 25 KB, black ink on white paper) are uploaded.
5. Cancellation:
A wrongly filled registration or application may be cancelled through 'View Application Status' on https://apply-bpssc.com using an OTP, and filled afresh, but the fee is not refunded.

Exam Pattern

1. Preliminary examination:
One paper of 200 marks with 100 questions in 2 hours, on general knowledge and current affairs. All questions are multiple-choice.
2. Main examination - Paper I:
General Hindi, 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours. A minimum of 30 per cent is compulsory, failing which the candidate is declared ineligible. The marks of the General Hindi paper are not counted towards merit.
3. Main examination - Paper II:
General Studies, General Science, Civics, Indian History, Indian Geography, Mathematics and Mental Ability, 200 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours.
4. Negative marking:
0.2 marks are deducted for each wrong answer at both stages of the written examination.
5. Answer sheet:
The answer sheet is made in two copies, one of which is retained by the Commission.

Selection Process

1. Physical efficiency test:
Held from 05.05.2022 to 09.05.2022 for candidates selected after the written examination under Advertisement No. 02/2019.

Reservation Details

1. Horizontal reservation for women:
35 per cent of the 212 posts are horizontally reserved for women in reserved and unreserved categories alike, in the light of General Administration Department circular no. 2342 dated 15.02.2016 - 73 posts.
2. Grandchildren of freedom fighters:
2 per cent horizontal reservation under General Administration Department circular no. 2526 dated 18.02.2016 - 4 posts.
3. Statutory basis:
The Bihar Reservation of Vacancies in Posts and Services (for Scheduled Castes, Scheduled Tribes and Other Backward Classes) Act, 1991 (Bihar Act 3 of 1992), as amended from time to time. The benefit is available only to permanent residents of Bihar; candidates from other States are counted as Unreserved (General).

1. Keep a copy:
The Application Form Number is needed for future correspondence; candidates must keep a copy of the completed application form with photograph and attach a copy when corresponding with the Commission.
2. Admit card:
After the closing date the applications are scrutinised, a database of candidates is prepared and admit cards for the written examination are issued to candidates by e-mail. Notice of the written examination is given in the newspapers and on the Commission's website in due course.
3. No extension:
The last date of 06.01.2020 for the online application will not be extended.
4. False information:
Any false or incorrect information leads to rejection of the application and to legal action.
