Job Details
Duties of the Shipping Master and Director include: supervising engagement and discharge of seamen, navigational officers and marine engineers on merchant vessels; issuing Continuous Discharge Certificates (CDC) under MS (CDC) Rules and maintaining service records; conducting death enquiries for incidents on board; registering indentures of cadets engaged by shipping companies; issuing inward/outward clearances to ships at port; acting as custodian of personal effects and wages of deceased/hospitalized seamen; forwarding monthly allotments to nominees of seamen; arranging referral of seamen to nominated hospitals for free medical treatment and providing medicines/surgical accessories; overseeing payment of overtime, inconvenience allowance, shorthand wages, fresh bazaars, delivery of mail and boat service at ports; visiting ships to ensure congenial living conditions onboard; and assisting families of seamen by liaising with District Civil/Police authorities.

- Experience: 7 years’ experience in a supervisory capacity in administration and establishment matters.
- Eligibility cadre: Officers of the Central Government holding analogous post on regular basis or with prescribed regular service in specified pay scales/levels.
Age Limitations:
- Maximum age: Not exceeding 56 years as on the closing date of receipt of applications.
Salary Details
> Salary Range: ₹67,700 - ₹2,08,700 Monthly

- Deputation terms: Pay and other terms and conditions of deputation will be regulated in accordance with DoPT O.M. No. 6/8/2009-Estt.(Pay-II) dated 17.06.2010 as amended from time to time.

- Statement of major/minor penalties, if any, imposed during the last 10 years and certificate that no disciplinary proceedings are pending/contemplated.
- 6. Verification certificate:
- Certificate that particulars furnished by the candidate have been verified and found correct as per service records.
Important Instructions

- 2. Debarment on withdrawal:
