How to Apply
- 1. Mode:
- Online only, through the Commission's website www.bpssc.bih.nic.in; candidates click the application link and complete registration followed by payment and the application form.
- 2. Registration:
- Registration takes the candidate's mobile number and e-mail address. A valid, active personal mobile number and e-mail address are compulsory, as the Commission communicates only through them until the last stage of recruitment.
- 3. Documents to be ready:
- Educational qualification certificates (10th/SSC/matriculation, graduation and optionally post-graduation), address proof (Aadhaar, voter ID, driving licence, passport, ration card or birth certificate) with post office and PIN code, a scanned recent passport-size colour photograph 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm taken within two months and under 25 KB, and scanned signatures in both Hindi and English in black ink on white paper, each under 25 KB.
- 4. Cancellation and re-application:
- A registration or a submitted application filled with wrong details cannot be edited but can be cancelled at https://apply-bpssc.com through 'View Application Status', after which the mobile number is freed and a new application may be filed. The fee already paid is not refunded.
- 5. Keep a copy:
- The Application Form Number is required for future correspondence. Candidates must keep a copy of the completed application form with photograph, and attach a photocopy of it when corresponding with the Commission.
Exam Pattern
- 1. Paper 1 - General Hindi:
- 100 marks, 50 questions, 1 hour, multiple choice. A minimum of 30 per cent is compulsory, failing which the candidate is declared ineligible. 0.2 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. The marks of the General Hindi paper are not counted in determining merit.
- 2. Paper 2 - General Studies:
- 300 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours, multiple choice, covering general knowledge, current affairs, general science, civics, Indian history, Indian geography, mathematics and mental ability. 0.3 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
- 3. Answer sheets:
- Both papers use a two-copy answer sheet, one copy of which is retained by the Commission.
- 4. Interview:
- 50 marks. Interview marks are added to the written examination marks and the final merit list is prepared on the total.
Selection Process
- 1. Stage 1 - Written competitive examination:
- Two multiple-choice papers conducted by the Commission for all candidates.
- 2. Stage 2 - Interview:
- Six times the number of vacancies are shortlisted category-wise on merit from the written examination and called for interview; the ratio may be suitably reduced if enough qualified candidates are not available. The interview assesses the candidate's overall personality, subject knowledge, awareness of current events, creative and positive qualities, and suitability for work in the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department.
- 3. Stage 3 - Physical efficiency test:
- Conducted by the Commission for candidates called to interview. Success is compulsory; a candidate who fails is not recommended for appointment on the strength of the written examination and interview marks alone.
- 4. Stage 4 - Medical examination:
- Candidates successful in the physical efficiency test are medically examined by a medical team constituted by the Commission, with a right of appeal to a Medical Board.
- 5. Final merit list:
- A final merit list of candidates successful in the physical efficiency test and the medical examination is prepared category-wise according to the vacancies.
- 6. Minimum qualifying marks for the final merit list:
- 32 per cent for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women candidates; 34 per cent for Extremely Backward Class; 36.5 per cent for Backward Class; 40 per cent for General category candidates.
- 7. Tie-breaking:
- Ties on marks are resolved by date of birth (the older candidate ranks higher), then by higher educational qualification, and finally by the alphabetical order of the name as written in the 10th board certificate.
Admit Card Details
- 1. Issue of admit cards:
- After the closing date the applications are scrutinised, a candidate database is prepared, and admit cards for the written examination are issued to candidates by e-mail. Formal information about the written examination is given in due course through newspapers and the Commission's website.

How to Apply
- 1. Mode:
- Online only, through the Commission's website www.bpssc.bih.nic.in; candidates click the application link and complete registration followed by payment and the application form.
- 2. Registration:
- Registration takes the candidate's mobile number and e-mail address. A valid, active personal mobile number and e-mail address are compulsory, as the Commission communicates only through them until the last stage of recruitment.
- 3. Documents to be ready:
- Educational qualification certificates (10th/SSC/matriculation, graduation and optionally post-graduation), address proof (Aadhaar, voter ID, driving licence, passport, ration card or birth certificate) with post office and PIN code, a scanned recent passport-size colour photograph 3.5 cm x 4.5 cm taken within two months and under 25 KB, and scanned signatures in both Hindi and English in black ink on white paper, each under 25 KB.
- 4. Cancellation and re-application:
- A registration or a submitted application filled with wrong details cannot be edited but can be cancelled at https://apply-bpssc.com through 'View Application Status', after which the mobile number is freed and a new application may be filed. The fee already paid is not refunded.
- 5. Keep a copy:
- The Application Form Number is required for future correspondence. Candidates must keep a copy of the completed application form with photograph, and attach a photocopy of it when corresponding with the Commission.
Exam Pattern
- 1. Paper 1 - General Hindi:
- 100 marks, 50 questions, 1 hour, multiple choice. A minimum of 30 per cent is compulsory, failing which the candidate is declared ineligible. 0.2 marks are deducted for each wrong answer. The marks of the General Hindi paper are not counted in determining merit.
- 2. Paper 2 - General Studies:
- 300 marks, 100 questions, 2 hours, multiple choice, covering general knowledge, current affairs, general science, civics, Indian history, Indian geography, mathematics and mental ability. 0.3 marks are deducted for each wrong answer.
- 3. Answer sheets:
- Both papers use a two-copy answer sheet, one copy of which is retained by the Commission.
- 4. Interview:
- 50 marks. Interview marks are added to the written examination marks and the final merit list is prepared on the total.
Selection Process
- 1. Stage 1 - Written competitive examination:
- Two multiple-choice papers conducted by the Commission for all candidates.
- 2. Stage 2 - Interview:
- Six times the number of vacancies are shortlisted category-wise on merit from the written examination and called for interview; the ratio may be suitably reduced if enough qualified candidates are not available. The interview assesses the candidate's overall personality, subject knowledge, awareness of current events, creative and positive qualities, and suitability for work in the Environment, Forest and Climate Change Department.
- 3. Stage 3 - Physical efficiency test:
- Conducted by the Commission for candidates called to interview. Success is compulsory; a candidate who fails is not recommended for appointment on the strength of the written examination and interview marks alone.
- 4. Stage 4 - Medical examination:
- Candidates successful in the physical efficiency test are medically examined by a medical team constituted by the Commission, with a right of appeal to a Medical Board.
- 5. Final merit list:
- A final merit list of candidates successful in the physical efficiency test and the medical examination is prepared category-wise according to the vacancies.
- 6. Minimum qualifying marks for the final merit list:
- 32 per cent for Scheduled Caste, Scheduled Tribe and women candidates; 34 per cent for Extremely Backward Class; 36.5 per cent for Backward Class; 40 per cent for General category candidates.
- 7. Tie-breaking:
- Ties on marks are resolved by date of birth (the older candidate ranks higher), then by higher educational qualification, and finally by the alphabetical order of the name as written in the 10th board certificate.
Admit Card Details
- 1. Issue of admit cards:
- After the closing date the applications are scrutinised, a candidate database is prepared, and admit cards for the written examination are issued to candidates by e-mail. Formal information about the written examination is given in due course through newspapers and the Commission's website.

- आवेदन‑पत्र की पावती/प्राप्ति प्रति एवं वैध फोटोयुक्त पहचान‑पत्र प्रस्तुत करें।

- परीक्षा केन्द्रों की सूची 10.10.2020 से वेबसाइट पर उपलब्ध होगी।
- 2. OMR specimen:
- OMR उत्तर पुस्तिका का specimen कॉपी वेबसाइट पर उपलब्ध है; निर्देश ध्यानपूर्वक पढ़ें।
- 3. COVID‑19:
- सोशल डिस्टेंसिंग का पालन करें, हमेशा मास्क पहनें तथा हैंड सेनेटाइजर/खाद्य पदार्थ/पेय जल साथ लाएँ; किसी अन्य व्यक्ति को साथ न लाएँ।
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. False information:
- If any information is found false or wrong the application is cancelled and legal action is taken.
- 2. More than one application:
- If a candidate files more than one online application, all of that candidate's applications are rejected.
- 3. Fake name or address:
- Candidates applying under a fake name or address face strict legal action.
- 4. Mismatch with certificates:
- If the details in the application differ from the certificates at the time of verification, the candidature is cancelled.

- 1. Candidate identifiers omitted:
- Page 3 of this notice is a table of the merit serial numbers of the 42 finally selected candidates. Those identifiers have been deliberately omitted; only counts, reasons and cut-offs are recorded.
- 2. Medical examination data:
- Called for the medical test 229; remained absent 31; declared unfit in the medical test 6; found fit 192.
- 3. Candidates not selected:
- General 12; EWS 30; BC 41; EBC 62; SC 5; ST 0. Total 150 (118 men, 32 women).
- 4. Unfilled post:
