Job Details
The Railway Recruitment Boards (RRBs), under the Ministry of Railways, Government of India, have issued Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 02/2026 (Technician Categories) inviting online applications for 6,557 Technician posts across 21 Railway Recruitment Boards and the Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways. The notification covers 25 post categories: Technician Grade-I (Signal) in 7th CPC Pay Matrix Level-5 with 323 vacancies, and 24 categories of Technician Grade-III in Pay Matrix Level-2 with 6,234 vacancies, spanning the Signal and Telecommunication, Engineering, Mechanical and Electrical departments. Technician Grade-I (Signal) requires a B.Sc. in Physics, Electronics, Computer Science, Information Technology or Instrumentation, or a diploma or degree in engineering in those streams, and is open to candidates aged 18 to 33 as on 01.07.2026. Technician Grade-III requires Matriculation or SSLC plus an ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the trade prescribed for the post, and is open to candidates aged 18 to 30 as on the same date. Selection is by a Computer Based Test of 100 questions in 90 minutes for each pay level, followed by Document Verification of candidates shortlisted RRB-wise at 1:1 of vacancies, and a Medical Examination. Applications are submitted online only, one RRB per pay level, between 30.06.2026 and 23:59 hours on 29.07.2026.

Job Summary
RRB CEN No. 02/2026 invites online applications for 6,557 Technician posts in Indian Railways - 323 Technician Grade-I (Signal) at 7th CPC Pay Level-5 (initial pay Rs. 29,200, age 18-33) and 6,234 Technician Grade-III across 24 categories at Pay Level-2 (initial pay Rs. 19,900, age 18-30), reckoned as on 01.07.2026. Grade-I requires a B.Sc. or an engineering diploma or degree in the specified streams; Grade-III requires Matriculation or SSLC with an ITI or Course Completed Act Apprenticeship in the prescribed trade. Selection is through a 90-minute, 100-question Computer Based Test per pay level with one third negative marking, followed by Document Verification and a Medical Examination. The fee is Rs. 500 (Rs. 400 refundable on appearing in the CBT) or Rs. 250 for SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and EBC candidates, fully refundable. Fee Structure
Application Fee
- 1. All candidates other than those listed below:
- Rs. 500. Of this, Rs. 400 is refunded, less applicable bank charges, on appearing in the CBT.
- 2. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates:
- Rs. 250, refunded in full less applicable bank charges on appearing in the CBT.
- 3. Fee per pay level:
- The examination fee must be paid separately for each pay level applied for.
- 4. Modification fee:
- Rs. 250 per occasion, non-refundable, payable by all candidates irrespective of community or category, to modify a submitted application between 01.08.2026 and 10.08.2026.
- 5. Difference in fee on changing category:
- A candidate modifying his or her community from SC/ST to UR, OBC or EWS, or switching from Ex-Servicemen / female / transgender / PwBD to UR / OBC-NCL / EWS / non-Ex-Servicemen / non-PwBD / male, must pay the Rs. 250 difference in examination fee in addition to the modification fee, failing which the modified application will not be accepted.

- 1. Mode:
- Online only. There is no option to pay by any other mode.
- 2. Instruments accepted:
- Internet banking, debit or credit card, or UPI. All applicable service charges are borne by the candidate.
- 3. Confirmation:
- The online application is accepted only after confirmation of fee payment; the applicant receives confirmation of successful payment by email and SMS.
Other Information
- 1. Refund - who qualifies:
- Only candidates who actually attend the CBT receive the refund. No refund is made where the application is incomplete, not submitted or rejected.
- 2. Refund - how it is paid:
- The refund, less bank charges, is credited only to the bank account seeded with the candidate's Aadhaar number. Candidates validate their Aadhaar during the application; if no bank account is seeded, they are redirected to the NPCI portal for real-time Aadhaar-bank linking. A candidate with no bank account may give a family member's Aadhaar-seeded account. Responsibility for a valid and operational Aadhaar-seeded account rests solely with the candidate, and no refund is admissible where the linked account is found non-operational.
- 3. Minority fee waiver:
- Minorities are Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians (Parsis), subject to any revision, deletion or inclusion received up to 29.07.2026. A minority candidate claiming the fee concession must furnish an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper in the format at Annexure IV stating the minority community, at Document Verification, failing which candidature is liable to be rejected.
- 4. Economically Backward Class (EBC) fee concession:
- EBC candidates are those whose annual family income is less than Rs. 50,000. They must hold, on the date of application, either a valid income certificate in the format at Annexure III A issued by a District Magistrate or a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, or by a sitting Lok Sabha MP for their own constituency, a sitting Rajya Sabha MP for the district in which the MP normally resides, or a Union Minister for anyone in the country; or a BPL card or other certificate issued by the Central Government under a recognised poverty alleviation programme; or an Izzat MST issued by the Railways. The document must be issued on or before 29.07.2026 and must be produced in original at Document Verification.
- 5. EBC is not OBC or EWS:
- Economically Backward Class (EBC), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Other Backward Class (OBC) are three distinct categories. An EBC candidate is entitled only to the fee concession and not to job reservation. An EBC certificate is also not the same as an Extremely Backward Class certificate issued by some State Governments.
- 6. Applications without fee:
- Applications received without the prescribed fee are not considered and are summarily rejected; no representation against such rejection is entertained.
- 7. Cancellation of vacancies:
- If the Railway Administration cancels the notified vacancies, the examination fee is not refunded except to candidates who have attended the CBT.

How to Apply
- 1. Mode:
- Online only, through the link provided on the official RRB websites listed in Para 19.0 of the CEN. Applications complete in all respects must be submitted by 23:59 hours on 29.07.2026.
- 2. Step 1 - Create an Account:
- Candidates must first create an account for this CEN using the link on the official RRB websites. Candidates who created an account for an earlier RRB CEN (2024, 2025 or 2026) must use the same login credentials. A valid personal mobile number and active email ID are mandatory for the OTPs required during account creation.
- 3. Create an Account details are final:
- No change is allowed to anything entered in the 'Create an Account' form, including the mobile number and email ID, at any stage once the account is created.
- 4. Identity authentication:
- Candidates are strongly advised to authenticate their identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during 'Create an Account', or later through the 'Verify Aadhaar' facility before final submission. Candidates who verify identity through alternate photo IDs are subjected to significantly stricter and more detailed scrutiny at every stage.
- 5. Step 2 - Choose one RRB per pay level:
- A candidate must choose only one RRB for each pay level and submit only one common online application for that pay level. The chosen RRB is final and cannot be modified. Applying to more than one RRB for the same pay level results in rejection of all applications for that pay level and debarment.
- 6. Step 3 - Post preferences:
- The candidate must give an order of preference for any or all of the notified posts under the selected pay level for which he or she is eligible and interested, together with preferences for Zonal Railways and Production Units. Where no option is given for a Zonal Railway, PU or post, it is treated as unwillingness. Options once exercised are final.
- 7. Step 4 - Live photograph:
- No pre-existing photograph is uploaded. The application module captures a live photograph through a webcam or the front camera of a mobile phone. The candidate must sit or stand facing the camera at eye level, with a neutral expression, the whole face clearly visible and centred in the frame, wearing non-white and preferably dark clothing, and no cap, mask or spectacles. The photograph may be previewed and retaken until the application is submitted. Photographing a printed or digital pre-existing photograph leads to summary rejection.
- 8. Live photo validation failure:
- If the captured live photograph fails validation and matching, the candidate must download Annexure VII from the online application and upload it duly signed by a Gazetted Officer as valid proof of identity.
- 9. Step 5 - Pay the fee:
- After submission the candidate is directed to pay the examination fee online. Acceptance of the application happens only after confirmation of fee payment, which is confirmed by email and SMS.
- 10. Scribe details:
- Candidates who opted for a scribe must log in during the five-day window immediately after the modification window closes (11.08.2026 to 15.08.2026), enter the scribe's One-Time Registration number and confirm the scribe with the OTP sent to the scribe's mobile number.
- 11. Modification of a submitted application:
- After submission and payment, any detail except those in the 'Create an Account' form and the chosen RRB may be modified on payment of a non-refundable fee of Rs. 250 per occasion, between 01.08.2026 and 10.08.2026. Modifications are allowed any number of times on payment of the fee for each occasion. No representation for modification is entertained after 10.08.2026.
- 12. Common Service Centres:
- Candidates may use the Common Services Centres (CSC) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for online submission and payment of fee through e-wallet. The list is at www.csc.gov.in and the nearest centre can be found at https://findmycsc.nic.in/csc/.
- 13. Apply early:
- Candidates are advised to apply well before the closing date to avoid heavy website traffic in the final days. RRBs are not responsible if a candidate is unable to submit the application within the last date for any reason.

Selection Process
- 1. Stages:
- The recruitment process comprises a Computer Based Test (CBT), Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination (ME).
- 2. Separate CBT per pay level:
- There is a separate CBT for each pay level, so a candidate applying for both Level-5 and Level-2 must submit and pay for two applications.
- 3. CBT duration and length:
- 90 minutes and 100 questions, for both Pay Level-5 and Pay Level-2.
- 4. Negative marking:
- One third of a mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
- 5. Normalisation:
- Normalisation of marks is done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- 6. Minimum qualifying marks:
- UR 40%, EWS 40%, OBC-NCL 30%, SC 30% and ST 25%. The same percentages apply to Ex-Servicemen according to their community. They may be relaxed by up to 2 marks for PwBD candidates where there is a shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
- 7. Shortlisting for DV and Medical Examination:
- Done RRB-wise at the rate of 1:1 of the vacancies for that RRB, on the basis of merit in the CBT, after normalisation. Shortlisted candidates are informed through the RRB websites and by SMS and/or email to download their e-call letters.
- 8. Tie-breaking:
- Where two or more candidates secure equal marks, the older candidate is placed higher; if the age is also the same, the alphabetical order (A to Z) of the given name, not the surname, decides.
- 9. Document Verification:
- Candidates must produce their original certificates together with two sets of self-attested photocopies. No additional time is given, absence leads to cancellation of candidature, and scanned true-colour copies of photograph and signature must be uploaded before the DV date through https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv.
- 10. Medical Examination:
- Appointment is subject to passing the medical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration and to final verification of all essential documents and of the candidate's antecedents and character.
- 11. Post and railway allotment:
- Posts and Railway/Unit are allotted only according to the candidate's options, subject to merit, reservation and the vacancy position on the date the panel is finalised. Once empanelled, a candidate forfeits the right to be considered for any other post or category in the same pay level.
- 12. Shortfall in empanelment:
- RRBs reserve the right to go further down the merit list in case of shortfall or other exigency, according to merit and the candidates' options; this confers no vested right on those candidates.
- 13. Recommendation, not appointment:
- RRBs only recommend the names of empanelled candidates to the Railway Administrations concerned; the offer of appointment is issued only by the respective Railway Administration, subject to availability of vacancies and to all eligibility criteria including antecedents of character.
- 14. Additional stages:
- RRBs reserve the right to introduce additional CBTs or additional Document Verification, and to reschedule any CBT or DV due to technical constraints or unavoidable circumstances, without assigning any reason.
Admit Card Details
- 1. Where to download:
- E-call letters for the CBT and for Document Verification are downloaded only from the websites of the concerned RRBs. No call letter is sent by post.
- 2. When:
- The e-call letter for the CBT can be downloaded about four days before the date of the CBT; the city of examination is intimated about ten days in advance.
- 3. Intimation:
- Schedules and download links are published on the RRB websites, and eligible candidates are also informed by SMS and/or email; candidates should visit the websites regularly because SMS and email delivery can fail.
- 4. Scribe e-call letter:
- A separate e-call letter is issued to the scribe, who must carry the original valid ID proof used at the time of registration on the day of the examination.
- 5. Free travel authority:
- For SC and ST candidates who are eligible and opt for free train travel, the e-call letter itself carries the sleeper class railway pass; they book against a self-attested photocopy of the e-call letter and the SC/ST certificate, and must carry the original community certificate and a prescribed original identity proof during the journey.
- 6. Self-declaration on the e-call letter:
- Candidates must write the self-declaration paragraph, sign it and affix their left thumb impression on the e-call letter at the CBT venue, in the presence of the invigilator, and hand it over before the end of the examination. Writing the declaration in advance or signing in capital letters leads to rejection.
- 7. An e-call letter is not acceptance of candidature:
- The mere issue of an e-call letter does not mean that candidature has been accepted for the subsequent stages.
Reservation Details
- 1. Vertical reservation:
- The CEN provides vertical reservation for EWS, SC, ST and OBC-NCL wherever applicable and admissible, as communicated by the indenting Railways. All candidates irrespective of community are considered against UR vacancies, but vacancies reserved for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS are filled only by candidates of that community.
- 2. All-India community split:
- UR 2,728; SC 1,009; ST 597; OBC-NCL 1,565; EWS 658; total 6,557.
- 3. Horizontal reservation:
- Horizontal reservation is provided for Ex-Servicemen and PwBD irrespective of their social community, and those seats are included within the totals shown in the vacancy table. All-India: Ex-Servicemen 661 and PwBD 330 (VI 39, HI 103, LD 143, OD nil, MD 45).
- 4. Backlog PwBD vacancies:
- Where PwBD vacancies are shown separately as backlog vacancies without any community indication, they are past backlog and are not included in the regular community vacancies. In this CEN every backlog column is nil.
- 5. Applying without a reserved vacancy:
- Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates may apply against regular vacancies of a post even where none is exclusively reserved for them (for PwBD, provided the post is suitable for their disability), and remain eligible for the age relaxation and fee exemption applicable to them.
- 6. Unfilled PwBD vacancies:
- Reserved PwBD vacancies that cannot be filled for want of suitable candidates are not filled and are treated as shortfall for this notification. Backlog PwBD vacancies, however, may be filled by PwBD candidates of other disabilities for which the post is suitable, and thereafter by non-PwBD candidates in order of merit.
- 7. OBC creamy layer:
- OBC candidates in the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservation. OBCs on a State list but not on the central list cannot claim the reservation.
- 8. EWS criteria:
- Candidates not covered by SC, ST or central-list OBC reservation whose family gross annual income for financial year 2025-26 is below Rs. 8 lakh, from all sources. Excluded irrespective of income are families owning 5 acres or more of agricultural land, a residential flat of 1,000 sq. ft. or more, a residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in a notified municipality, or 200 sq. yards or more elsewhere; holdings in different places are clubbed. Family means the candidate, his or her parents and siblings below 18, and his or her spouse and children below 18. OBC creamy layer candidates cannot claim EWS.
- 9. EWS certificate:
- An Income and Asset Certificate in the format at Annexure III, issued by a District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Collector, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Chief Presidency Magistrate, Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate, Presidency Magistrate, a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, or the Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate or the family normally resides. It must be held as on the closing date and produced at Document Verification.
- 10. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities:
- Reservation and relaxation are available only to persons with not less than 40 per cent of the relevant benchmark disability, under the RPwD Act, 2016. The certificate of disability must be in Form V or VI of rule 18(1) of the Gazette Notification (Extraordinary) dated 16 October 2024 of the RPwD (Amendment) Rules, 2024 (Annexures V(A) and V(B)); existing certificates issued under the repealed Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 remain valid for the period specified in them.
- 11. PwBD sub-category is final:
- The PwBD sub-category (LD, HI, VI or MD) selected in the application cannot be changed later, and the UDID must be furnished at Document Verification. Candidates whose disability is classified as 'likely to improve' under the temporary disability category are not eligible for reservation, in terms of the DePwD Office Memorandum dated 17.12.2025; 'progressive, non-progressive or not likely to improve' conditions are eligible.
- 12. Bihar caste certificate directions:
- Candidates of the Lohar / Lohara / Lohra caste belonging to or migrated from Bihar must produce a caste certificate issued after 01.04.2023 and valid on the closing date. Candidates of the Pan / Panr / Sawasi / Tanti-Tatwa castes belonging to or migrated from Bihar whose SC/ST certificate predates the Supreme Court judgment of 15.07.2024 must upload and produce a certificate issued on or after 01.09.2024, failing which they are treated as Unreserved.
- 13. Community status is fixed at application:
- The community or category declared in the online application determines eligibility for reservation benefits; any later change in community status is not recognised for this recruitment.
- 14. Ex-Servicemen definition:
- A person who served in any rank, combatant or non-combatant, in the regular Army, Navy or Air Force of the Indian Union, excluding the Defence Security Corps, the General Reserve Engineer Force, the Lok Sahayak Sena and the Para Military Forces, and who was retired, relieved or discharged in the circumstances set out in Para 13.1 of the CEN, together with Territorial Army pension holders, Army Postal Service personnel as specified, gallantry award winners of the Armed Forces, and ex-recruits boarded out on medical grounds with a medical disability pension with effect from 01.02.2006.
- 15. Serving Armed Forces personnel:
- Persons due to be released within one year of the closing date may apply and claim Ex-Servicemen concessions, but may not leave the uniform until they complete the specified terms of engagement. They must submit the employment certificate with probable date of discharge at Annexure VI (A), valid as on the closing date, and the self-declaration at Annexure VI at Document Verification.
- 16. Ex-Servicemen already in civil employment:
- Ex-Servicemen who have already secured Central Government civil employment in Group C or erstwhile Group D after availing Ex-Servicemen benefits get only the age relaxation and are not considered against Ex-Servicemen reserved vacancies, except in the circumstances described in Para 13.5 of the CEN.
Document Requirements
- 1. Uploaded with the online application:
- A scanned image of the candidate's signature in JPG/JPEG format, and, for SC and ST candidates requesting a free train travel pass, a scanned copy of the SC/ST certificate in PDF format.
- 2. Signature specifications:
- Written by the candidate only, in black ink on white paper, in running (cursive, joined) handwriting and not in block, capital or disjoined letters; scanned at a minimum of 100 DPI; JPG/JPEG only; file size between 30 KB and 49 KB; minimum 140 x 60 pixels; centred within a scan box of 35 mm x 20 mm.
- 3. Grounds for rejection related to signature:
- Signature of a person other than the applicant; non-white background; non-black ink; block or capital letters; poor resolution or unclear image; incomplete or partially visible signature; an image that is not the signature; a blank image; or a thumb impression in place of a signature. The signature must match the one captured at the examination, Document Verification, Medical Examination and appointment.
- 4. Signature - PwBD exception:
- Candidates with benchmark disabilities whose disability prevents them from signing may upload a scanned fingerprint image, in the order left hand thumb, right hand thumb, any finger of the hands, any finger of the legs.
- 5. SC/ST certificate specifications:
- PDF only, less than 400 KB, legible and clear, and the latest valid certificate as on the closing date for submission of the online application.
- 6. Produced at Document Verification:
- All original documents with two sets of self-attested photocopies, including educational and technical qualification certificates, proof of age, and the certificates supporting any reservation or relaxation claimed.
- 7. Caste and category certificate formats:
- SC/ST certificate as per Annexure I; OBC-NCL certificate as per Annexure II with the self-declaration at Annexure II A; EWS Income and Asset Certificate as per Annexure III; EBC income certificate as per Annexure III A; minority community affidavit as per Annexure IV; disability certificates as per Annexure V(A) for single and V(B) for multiple disabilities; scribe undertakings and certificates as per Annexures V(C) to V(F); Ex-Servicemen declaration as per Annexure VI and employment certificate as per Annexure VI (A); Gazetted Officer certificate as per Annexure VII. Certificates in any other format are not accepted.
- 8. OBC-NCL certificate validity:
- Must be issued on or after 01 April 2026 and not later than the closing date of the online application, must carry the prescribed creamy-layer wording, and the caste must appear in the current central list of OBCs at http://www.ncbc.nic.in.
- 9. Photo identity at the examination:
- A valid original photo ID such as voter ID card, Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar printout, driving licence, PAN card, passport, employer-issued identity card for government employees, or a school, college or university photo ID card if still studying. Candidates must also bring colour passport photographs not older than two months from the date of the CBT, DV or ME.
- 10. No Objection Certificate:
- Serving candidates must produce an NOC from their present employer at Document Verification.
Important Instructions
- 1. Read the CEN first:
- Candidates must read the CEN, including Annexure A (post-wise parameters), Annexure B (RRB and zone-wise vacancies) and Annexure C (merged post categories), before applying, and satisfy themselves that they meet every eligibility condition.
- 2. Separate application and fee per pay level:
- A separate application and a separate examination fee are required for each pay level, because a separate CBT is conducted for each.
- 3. Merged Post Categories:
- Eight of the 25 post categories at Pay Level-2 are Merged Post Categories formed by merging post designations that share identical post parameters. A candidate empanelled against a Merged Post Category may be assigned any of the post designations and the corresponding department and sub-department within it on reporting to the allotted Zonal Railway.
- 4. Medical fitness:
- Candidates must ensure they meet the prescribed medical standards for the posts opted for; those found medically unsuitable are given no alternative appointment. Different posts within the same pay level carry different medical standards (A3, B1, B2 and C1), and a candidate found unfit for a higher preference but fit for a lower one is allotted the post for which he or she is fit, subject to merit, eligibility and vacancy.
- 5. Mobile number and email:
- Candidates must have their own active mobile number and a valid personal email ID for the entire duration of the recruitment, as all communication is by SMS and/or email. No request for a change of mobile number or email address is entertained.
- 6. Registration number:
- Candidates should note and remember their registration number for later stages and for correspondence with the RRB.
- 7. Name and date of birth:
- Name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth must be entered as recorded in the SSC / SSLC / Matriculation / 10th class certificate. Where the name has since changed, both names must be shown at the appropriate places, all other details must match the 10th class certificate, the change must predate the online application, and a gazette notification or other legal document with a valid photo ID in the changed name must be produced at the CBT or Document Verification.
- 8. Uniform signatures:
- The candidate's signature must be uniform and identical at all stages of the recruitment process.
- 9. Banned items at the test centre:
- Mobile phones, pagers, watches, earphones, Bluetooth devices, microphones, health bands and calculators, and items such as books, pen, paper, pencil, eraser, pouch, scale, writing pad, belts, handbags, caps, purses, cameras, water bottles and packaged or open food are not allowed. Only the e-call letter is allowed inside; pens are provided. Candidates are advised not to apply henna to hands or feet, which obstructs biometric capture. Cloak room facilities may not be available.
- 10. Posting and transfer:
- A Railway servant is ordinarily employed throughout service on the Railway or establishment of first posting and has no right to transfer, though a competent authority may transfer him or her anywhere in the exigencies of service, including projects in or out of India. No transfer request is registered until at least 5 to 10 years of service are completed, so candidates should choose their RRB with care.
- 11. Territorial Army liability:
- Candidates finally appointed are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers Unit of the Territorial Army.
- 12. Sharing of scores:
- With the candidate's consent, indicated in the online application, RRBs may share the marks obtained with other Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and private organisations for their own recruitment.
- 13. Biometrics:
- Biometric details are recorded at every stage of the recruitment process, and RRBs may disqualify a candidate and take legal action on a mismatch, and may conduct additional authentication and background checks.
- 14. Right to change terms:
- RRBs reserve the right to change, modify, add to or delete any of the terms and conditions of recruitment under this CEN at any stage, and to cancel or modify results and empanelment where an inadvertent or typographical error is found, including after appointment.
- 15. Legal jurisdiction:
- Legal issues arising out of this CEN after an application is provisionally accepted and an e-call letter issued fall within the jurisdiction of the Central Administrative Tribunal or High Court under which the chosen RRB is located. Where candidature is rejected at the application stage, jurisdiction lies with the Central Administrative Tribunal, Ernakulam and the High Court of Kerala.
- 16. English version prevails:

Disqualification Criteria
- 1. Multiple applications:
- More than one application for the same pay level, whether to different RRBs or to the same RRB, and applications with minor changes of information submitted more than once, are summarily rejected and the candidate is debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations.
- 2. Live photograph and signature:
- Non-compliance with the live photo capture instructions in Para 17.4 or the signature upload instructions in Para 17.5 leads to rejection of candidature at any stage.
- 3. Debarred list:
- A candidate whose name appears in the debarred list of any RRB or RRC is rejected.
- 4. False information:
- If at any stage, or even after appointment, it is found that information is false or incorrect, that relevant information was suppressed, or that the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, candidature is rejected, appointment is cancelled, an appointed candidate is removed from service, and the candidate is debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations for life.
- 5. Unfair means:
- Forgery, impersonation, cheating, misconduct, use or attempted use of banned items, misrepresentation or suppression of facts, or submission of a false document leads to lifetime debarment from all RRB and RRC examinations, debarment from appointment in the Railways, dismissal if already appointed, and legal action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act and Rules, 2024. RRBs carry out post-examination log analysis, photograph and biometric verification and CCTV review.
- 6. Scribe misuse:
- Unauthorised use of a scribe or of compensatory time leads to disqualification and, if already appointed, removal from service without notice. A scribe found independently answering questions causes the candidate's session to be terminated and candidature cancelled; a person may act as scribe for only one candidate in the same CEN, and a candidate may not act as scribe for another.
- 7. Absence at Document Verification:
- Candidature is cancelled if a candidate is absent for Document Verification or fails to produce original certificates on the date of verification.
- 8. Misuse of free travel:
- Misuse of the free train travel facility leads to rejection of candidature at any stage and debarment from future examinations.

- Details of rejected applications and the reasons for rejection can be viewed by logging in on the concerned RRB website; the decision is final and binding, no correspondence is entertained, and no fee is refunded. SMS and email alerts are sent; candidates are not intimated by post.

- Rs. 500. Of this, Rs. 400 is refunded, less applicable bank charges, on appearing in the CBT.
- 2. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, PwBD, female, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates:
- Rs. 250, refunded in full less applicable bank charges on appearing in the CBT.
- 3. Fee per pay level:
- The examination fee must be paid separately for each pay level applied for.
- 4. Modification fee:
- Rs. 250 per occasion, non-refundable, payable by all candidates irrespective of community or category, to modify a submitted application between 01.08.2026 and 10.08.2026.
- 5. Difference in fee on changing category:
- A candidate modifying his or her community from SC/ST to UR, OBC or EWS, or switching from Ex-Servicemen / female / transgender / PwBD to UR / OBC-NCL / EWS / non-Ex-Servicemen / non-PwBD / male, must pay the Rs. 250 difference in examination fee in addition to the modification fee, failing which the modified application will not be accepted.

- Internet banking, debit or credit card, or UPI. All applicable service charges are borne by the candidate.
- 3. Confirmation:
- The online application is accepted only after confirmation of fee payment; the applicant receives confirmation of successful payment by email and SMS.
Other Information
- 1. Refund - who qualifies:
- Only candidates who actually attend the CBT receive the refund. No refund is made where the application is incomplete, not submitted or rejected.
- 2. Refund - how it is paid:
- The refund, less bank charges, is credited only to the bank account seeded with the candidate's Aadhaar number. Candidates validate their Aadhaar during the application; if no bank account is seeded, they are redirected to the NPCI portal for real-time Aadhaar-bank linking. A candidate with no bank account may give a family member's Aadhaar-seeded account. Responsibility for a valid and operational Aadhaar-seeded account rests solely with the candidate, and no refund is admissible where the linked account is found non-operational.
- 3. Minority fee waiver:
- Minorities are Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians (Parsis), subject to any revision, deletion or inclusion received up to 29.07.2026. A minority candidate claiming the fee concession must furnish an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper in the format at Annexure IV stating the minority community, at Document Verification, failing which candidature is liable to be rejected.
- 4. Economically Backward Class (EBC) fee concession:
- EBC candidates are those whose annual family income is less than Rs. 50,000. They must hold, on the date of application, either a valid income certificate in the format at Annexure III A issued by a District Magistrate or a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, or by a sitting Lok Sabha MP for their own constituency, a sitting Rajya Sabha MP for the district in which the MP normally resides, or a Union Minister for anyone in the country; or a BPL card or other certificate issued by the Central Government under a recognised poverty alleviation programme; or an Izzat MST issued by the Railways. The document must be issued on or before 29.07.2026 and must be produced in original at Document Verification.
- 5. EBC is not OBC or EWS:
- Economically Backward Class (EBC), Economically Weaker Section (EWS) and Other Backward Class (OBC) are three distinct categories. An EBC candidate is entitled only to the fee concession and not to job reservation. An EBC certificate is also not the same as an Extremely Backward Class certificate issued by some State Governments.
- 6. Applications without fee:
- Applications received without the prescribed fee are not considered and are summarily rejected; no representation against such rejection is entertained.
- 7. Cancellation of vacancies:
- If the Railway Administration cancels the notified vacancies, the examination fee is not refunded except to candidates who have attended the CBT.

How to Apply
- 1. Mode:
- Online only, through the link provided on the official RRB websites listed in Para 19.0 of the CEN. Applications complete in all respects must be submitted by 23:59 hours on 29.07.2026.
- 2. Step 1 - Create an Account:
- Candidates must first create an account for this CEN using the link on the official RRB websites. Candidates who created an account for an earlier RRB CEN (2024, 2025 or 2026) must use the same login credentials. A valid personal mobile number and active email ID are mandatory for the OTPs required during account creation.
- 3. Create an Account details are final:
- No change is allowed to anything entered in the 'Create an Account' form, including the mobile number and email ID, at any stage once the account is created.
- 4. Identity authentication:
- Candidates are strongly advised to authenticate their identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during 'Create an Account', or later through the 'Verify Aadhaar' facility before final submission. Candidates who verify identity through alternate photo IDs are subjected to significantly stricter and more detailed scrutiny at every stage.
- 5. Step 2 - Choose one RRB per pay level:
- A candidate must choose only one RRB for each pay level and submit only one common online application for that pay level. The chosen RRB is final and cannot be modified. Applying to more than one RRB for the same pay level results in rejection of all applications for that pay level and debarment.
- 6. Step 3 - Post preferences:
- The candidate must give an order of preference for any or all of the notified posts under the selected pay level for which he or she is eligible and interested, together with preferences for Zonal Railways and Production Units. Where no option is given for a Zonal Railway, PU or post, it is treated as unwillingness. Options once exercised are final.
- 7. Step 4 - Live photograph:
- No pre-existing photograph is uploaded. The application module captures a live photograph through a webcam or the front camera of a mobile phone. The candidate must sit or stand facing the camera at eye level, with a neutral expression, the whole face clearly visible and centred in the frame, wearing non-white and preferably dark clothing, and no cap, mask or spectacles. The photograph may be previewed and retaken until the application is submitted. Photographing a printed or digital pre-existing photograph leads to summary rejection.
- 8. Live photo validation failure:
- If the captured live photograph fails validation and matching, the candidate must download Annexure VII from the online application and upload it duly signed by a Gazetted Officer as valid proof of identity.
- 9. Step 5 - Pay the fee:
- After submission the candidate is directed to pay the examination fee online. Acceptance of the application happens only after confirmation of fee payment, which is confirmed by email and SMS.
- 10. Scribe details:
- Candidates who opted for a scribe must log in during the five-day window immediately after the modification window closes (11.08.2026 to 15.08.2026), enter the scribe's One-Time Registration number and confirm the scribe with the OTP sent to the scribe's mobile number.

- After submission and payment, any detail except those in the 'Create an Account' form and the chosen RRB may be modified on payment of a non-refundable fee of Rs. 250 per occasion, between 01.08.2026 and 10.08.2026. Selection Process
- 1. Stages:
- The recruitment process comprises a Computer Based Test (CBT), Document Verification (DV) and a Medical Examination (ME).
- 2. Separate CBT per pay level:
- There is a separate CBT for each pay level, so a candidate applying for both Level-5 and Level-2 must submit and pay for two applications.
- 3. CBT duration and length:
- 90 minutes and 100 questions, for both Pay Level-5 and Pay Level-2.
- 4. Negative marking:
- One third of a mark is deducted for every wrong answer.
- 5. Normalisation:
- Normalisation of marks is done for CBTs held in multiple shifts.
- 6. Minimum qualifying marks:
- UR 40%, EWS 40%, OBC-NCL 30%, SC 30% and ST 25%. The same percentages apply to Ex-Servicemen according to their community. They may be relaxed by up to 2 marks for PwBD candidates where there is a shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
- 7. Shortlisting for DV and Medical Examination:
- Done RRB-wise at the rate of 1:1 of the vacancies for that RRB, on the basis of merit in the CBT, after normalisation. Shortlisted candidates are informed through the RRB websites and by SMS and/or email to download their e-call letters.
- 8. Tie-breaking:
- Where two or more candidates secure equal marks, the older candidate is placed higher; if the age is also the same, the alphabetical order (A to Z) of the given name, not the surname, decides.
- 9. Document Verification:
- Candidates must produce their original certificates together with two sets of self-attested photocopies. No additional time is given, absence leads to cancellation of candidature, and scanned true-colour copies of photograph and signature must be uploaded before the DV date through https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv.
- 10. Medical Examination:
- Appointment is subject to passing the medical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration and to final verification of all essential documents and of the candidate's antecedents and character.
- 11. Post and railway allotment:
- Posts and Railway/Unit are allotted only according to the candidate's options, subject to merit, reservation and the vacancy position on the date the panel is finalised. Once empanelled, a candidate forfeits the right to be considered for any other post or category in the same pay level.
- 12. Shortfall in empanelment:
- RRBs reserve the right to go further down the merit list in case of shortfall or other exigency, according to merit and the candidates' options; this confers no vested right on those candidates.
- 13. Recommendation, not appointment:
- RRBs only recommend the names of empanelled candidates to the Railway Administrations concerned; the offer of appointment is issued only by the respective Railway Administration, subject to availability of vacancies and to all eligibility criteria including antecedents of character.
- 14. Additional stages:
- RRBs reserve the right to introduce additional CBTs or additional Document Verification, and to reschedule any CBT or DV due to technical constraints or unavoidable circumstances, without assigning any reason.
Admit Card Details
- 1. Where to download:
- E-call letters for the CBT and for Document Verification are downloaded only from the websites of the concerned RRBs. No call letter is sent by post.
- 2. When:
- The e-call letter for the CBT can be downloaded about four days before the date of the CBT; the city of examination is intimated about ten days in advance.
- 3. Intimation:
- Schedules and download links are published on the RRB websites, and eligible candidates are also informed by SMS and/or email; candidates should visit the websites regularly because SMS and email delivery can fail.
- 4. Scribe e-call letter:
- A separate e-call letter is issued to the scribe, who must carry the original valid ID proof used at the time of registration on the day of the examination.
- 5. Free travel authority:
- For SC and ST candidates who are eligible and opt for free train travel, the e-call letter itself carries the sleeper class railway pass; they book against a self-attested photocopy of the e-call letter and the SC/ST certificate, and must carry the original community certificate and a prescribed original identity proof during the journey.
- 6. Self-declaration on the e-call letter:
- Candidates must write the self-declaration paragraph, sign it and affix their left thumb impression on the e-call letter at the CBT venue, in the presence of the invigilator, and hand it over before the end of the examination. Writing the declaration in advance or signing in capital letters leads to rejection.
- 7. An e-call letter is not acceptance of candidature:
- The mere issue of an e-call letter does not mean that candidature has been accepted for the subsequent stages.
Reservation Details
- 1. Vertical reservation:
- The CEN provides vertical reservation for EWS, SC, ST and OBC-NCL wherever applicable and admissible, as communicated by the indenting Railways. All candidates irrespective of community are considered against UR vacancies, but vacancies reserved for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS are filled only by candidates of that community.
- 2. All-India community split:
- UR 2,728; SC 1,009; ST 597; OBC-NCL 1,565; EWS 658; total 6,557.
- 3. Horizontal reservation:
- Horizontal reservation is provided for Ex-Servicemen and PwBD irrespective of their social community, and those seats are included within the totals shown in the vacancy table. All-India: Ex-Servicemen 661 and PwBD 330 (VI 39, HI 103, LD 143, OD nil, MD 45).
- 4. Backlog PwBD vacancies:
- Where PwBD vacancies are shown separately as backlog vacancies without any community indication, they are past backlog and are not included in the regular community vacancies. In this CEN every backlog column is nil.
- 5. Applying without a reserved vacancy:
- Ex-Servicemen and PwBD candidates may apply against regular vacancies of a post even where none is exclusively reserved for them (for PwBD, provided the post is suitable for their disability), and remain eligible for the age relaxation and fee exemption applicable to them.
- 6. Unfilled PwBD vacancies:
- Reserved PwBD vacancies that cannot be filled for want of suitable candidates are not filled and are treated as shortfall for this notification. Backlog PwBD vacancies, however, may be filled by PwBD candidates of other disabilities for which the post is suitable, and thereafter by non-PwBD candidates in order of merit.
- 7. OBC creamy layer:
- OBC candidates in the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservation. OBCs on a State list but not on the central list cannot claim the reservation.
- 8. EWS criteria:
- Candidates not covered by SC, ST or central-list OBC reservation whose family gross annual income for financial year 2025-26 is below Rs. 8 lakh, from all sources. Excluded irrespective of income are families owning 5 acres or more of agricultural land, a residential flat of 1,000 sq. ft. or more, a residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in a notified municipality, or 200 sq. yards or more elsewhere; holdings in different places are clubbed. Family means the candidate, his or her parents and siblings below 18, and his or her spouse and children below 18. OBC creamy layer candidates cannot claim EWS.
- 9. EWS certificate:
- An Income and Asset Certificate in the format at Annexure III, issued by a District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Collector, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate, Extra Assistant Commissioner, Chief Presidency Magistrate, Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate, Presidency Magistrate, a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar, or the Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate or the family normally resides. It must be held as on the closing date and produced at Document Verification.
- 10. Persons with Benchmark Disabilities:
- Reservation and relaxation are available only to persons with not less than 40 per cent of the relevant benchmark disability, under the RPwD Act, 2016. The certificate of disability must be in Form V or VI of rule 18(1) of the Gazette Notification (Extraordinary) dated 16 October 2024 of the RPwD (Amendment) Rules, 2024 (Annexures V(A) and V(B)); existing certificates issued under the repealed Persons with Disabilities Act 1995 remain valid for the period specified in them.
- 11. PwBD sub-category is final:
- The PwBD sub-category (LD, HI, VI or MD) selected in the application cannot be changed later, and the UDID must be furnished at Document Verification. Candidates whose disability is classified as 'likely to improve' under the temporary disability category are not eligible for reservation, in terms of the DePwD Office Memorandum dated 17.12.2025; 'progressive, non-progressive or not likely to improve' conditions are eligible.
- 12. Bihar caste certificate directions:
- Candidates of the Lohar / Lohara / Lohra caste belonging to or migrated from Bihar must produce a caste certificate issued after 01.04.2023 and valid on the closing date. Candidates of the Pan / Panr / Sawasi / Tanti-Tatwa castes belonging to or migrated from Bihar whose SC/ST certificate predates the Supreme Court judgment of 15.07.2024 must upload and produce a certificate issued on or after 01.09.2024, failing which they are treated as Unreserved.
- 13. Community status is fixed at application:
- The community or category declared in the online application determines eligibility for reservation benefits; any later change in community status is not recognised for this recruitment.
- 14. Ex-Servicemen definition:
- A person who served in any rank, combatant or non-combatant, in the regular Army, Navy or Air Force of the Indian Union, excluding the Defence Security Corps, the General Reserve Engineer Force, the Lok Sahayak Sena and the Para Military Forces, and who was retired, relieved or discharged in the circumstances set out in Para 13.1 of the CEN, together with Territorial Army pension holders, Army Postal Service personnel as specified, gallantry award winners of the Armed Forces, and ex-recruits boarded out on medical grounds with a medical disability pension with effect from 01.02.2006.
- 15. Serving Armed Forces personnel:
- Persons due to be released within one year of the closing date may apply and claim Ex-Servicemen concessions, but may not leave the uniform until they complete the specified terms of engagement. They must submit the employment certificate with probable date of discharge at Annexure VI (A), valid as on the closing date, and the self-declaration at Annexure VI at Document Verification.
- 16. Ex-Servicemen already in civil employment:
- Ex-Servicemen who have already secured Central Government civil employment in Group C or erstwhile Group D after availing Ex-Servicemen benefits get only the age relaxation and are not considered against Ex-Servicemen reserved vacancies, except in the circumstances described in Para 13.5 of the CEN.
Document Requirements
- 1. Uploaded with the online application:
- A scanned image of the candidate's signature in JPG/JPEG format, and, for SC and ST candidates requesting a free train travel pass, a scanned copy of the SC/ST certificate in PDF format.
- 2. Signature specifications:
- Written by the candidate only, in black ink on white paper, in running (cursive, joined) handwriting and not in block, capital or disjoined letters; scanned at a minimum of 100 DPI; JPG/JPEG only; file size between 30 KB and 49 KB; minimum 140 x 60 pixels; centred within a scan box of 35 mm x 20 mm.
- 3. Grounds for rejection related to signature:
- Signature of a person other than the applicant; non-white background; non-black ink; block or capital letters; poor resolution or unclear image; incomplete or partially visible signature; an image that is not the signature; a blank image; or a thumb impression in place of a signature. The signature must match the one captured at the examination, Document Verification, Medical Examination and appointment.
- 4. Signature - PwBD exception:
- Candidates with benchmark disabilities whose disability prevents them from signing may upload a scanned fingerprint image, in the order left hand thumb, right hand thumb, any finger of the hands, any finger of the legs.
- 5. SC/ST certificate specifications:
- PDF only, less than 400 KB, legible and clear, and the latest valid certificate as on the closing date for submission of the online application.
- 6. Produced at Document Verification:
- All original documents with two sets of self-attested photocopies, including educational and technical qualification certificates, proof of age, and the certificates supporting any reservation or relaxation claimed.
- 7. Caste and category certificate formats:
- SC/ST certificate as per Annexure I; OBC-NCL certificate as per Annexure II with the self-declaration at Annexure II A; EWS Income and Asset Certificate as per Annexure III; EBC income certificate as per Annexure III A; minority community affidavit as per Annexure IV; disability certificates as per Annexure V(A) for single and V(B) for multiple disabilities; scribe undertakings and certificates as per Annexures V(C) to V(F); Ex-Servicemen declaration as per Annexure VI and employment certificate as per Annexure VI (A); Gazetted Officer certificate as per Annexure VII. Certificates in any other format are not accepted.
- 8. OBC-NCL certificate validity:
- Must be issued on or after 01 April 2026 and not later than the closing date of the online application, must carry the prescribed creamy-layer wording, and the caste must appear in the current central list of OBCs at http://www.ncbc.nic.in.
- 9. Photo identity at the examination:
- A valid original photo ID such as voter ID card, Aadhaar card or e-Aadhaar printout, driving licence, PAN card, passport, employer-issued identity card for government employees, or a school, college or university photo ID card if still studying. Candidates must also bring colour passport photographs not older than two months from the date of the CBT, DV or ME.
- 10. No Objection Certificate:
- Serving candidates must produce an NOC from their present employer at Document Verification.
Important Instructions
- 1. Read the CEN first:
- Candidates must read the CEN, including Annexure A (post-wise parameters), Annexure B (RRB and zone-wise vacancies) and Annexure C (merged post categories), before applying, and satisfy themselves that they meet every eligibility condition.
- 2. Separate application and fee per pay level:
- A separate application and a separate examination fee are required for each pay level, because a separate CBT is conducted for each.
- 3. Merged Post Categories:
- Eight of the 25 post categories at Pay Level-2 are Merged Post Categories formed by merging post designations that share identical post parameters. A candidate empanelled against a Merged Post Category may be assigned any of the post designations and the corresponding department and sub-department within it on reporting to the allotted Zonal Railway.
- 4. Medical fitness:
- Candidates must ensure they meet the prescribed medical standards for the posts opted for; those found medically unsuitable are given no alternative appointment. Different posts within the same pay level carry different medical standards (A3, B1, B2 and C1), and a candidate found unfit for a higher preference but fit for a lower one is allotted the post for which he or she is fit, subject to merit, eligibility and vacancy.
- 5. Mobile number and email:
- Candidates must have their own active mobile number and a valid personal email ID for the entire duration of the recruitment, as all communication is by SMS and/or email. No request for a change of mobile number or email address is entertained.
- 6. Registration number:
- Candidates should note and remember their registration number for later stages and for correspondence with the RRB.
- 7. Name and date of birth:
- Name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth must be entered as recorded in the SSC / SSLC / Matriculation / 10th class certificate. Where the name has since changed, both names must be shown at the appropriate places, all other details must match the 10th class certificate, the change must predate the online application, and a gazette notification or other legal document with a valid photo ID in the changed name must be produced at the CBT or Document Verification.
- 8. Uniform signatures:
- The candidate's signature must be uniform and identical at all stages of the recruitment process.
- 9. Banned items at the test centre:
- Mobile phones, pagers, watches, earphones, Bluetooth devices, microphones, health bands and calculators, and items such as books, pen, paper, pencil, eraser, pouch, scale, writing pad, belts, handbags, caps, purses, cameras, water bottles and packaged or open food are not allowed. Only the e-call letter is allowed inside; pens are provided. Candidates are advised not to apply henna to hands or feet, which obstructs biometric capture. Cloak room facilities may not be available.
- 10. Posting and transfer:
- A Railway servant is ordinarily employed throughout service on the Railway or establishment of first posting and has no right to transfer, though a competent authority may transfer him or her anywhere in the exigencies of service, including projects in or out of India. No transfer request is registered until at least 5 to 10 years of service are completed, so candidates should choose their RRB with care.
- 11. Territorial Army liability:
- Candidates finally appointed are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers Unit of the Territorial Army.
- 12. Sharing of scores:
- With the candidate's consent, indicated in the online application, RRBs may share the marks obtained with other Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and private organisations for their own recruitment.
- 13. Biometrics:
- Biometric details are recorded at every stage of the recruitment process, and RRBs may disqualify a candidate and take legal action on a mismatch, and may conduct additional authentication and background checks.
- 14. Right to change terms:
- RRBs reserve the right to change, modify, add to or delete any of the terms and conditions of recruitment under this CEN at any stage, and to cancel or modify results and empanelment where an inadvertent or typographical error is found, including after appointment.
- 15. Legal jurisdiction:
- Legal issues arising out of this CEN after an application is provisionally accepted and an e-call letter issued fall within the jurisdiction of the Central Administrative Tribunal or High Court under which the chosen RRB is located. Where candidature is rejected at the application stage, jurisdiction lies with the Central Administrative Tribunal, Ernakulam and the High Court of Kerala.
- 16. English version prevails:
- In the event of any dispute about interpretation, the English version of the notification and of any subsequent amendment, corrigendum or important notice published on the official RRB websites is final.
- 17. Beware of fake websites and touts:
- Candidates should use only the official RRB websites listed in the CEN. RRBs and RRCs appoint no agents or coaching centres; selection is purely on merit. Attempting to influence an RRB or RRC directly or indirectly leads to disqualification and possible legal action.
Training Details
- 1. Training:
- Selected candidates for the post of Technician will have to undergo training wherever prescribed.
- 2. Pay during training:
- Only a stipend is paid during the training period. The stipend amount is not stated in this CEN.
Bond or Service Agreement
- 1. Bond:
- Selected candidates shall execute a Security and/or Indemnity Bond wherever necessary.
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. Multiple applications:
- More than one application for the same pay level, whether to different RRBs or to the same RRB, and applications with minor changes of information submitted more than once, are summarily rejected and the candidate is debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations.
- 2. Live photograph and signature:
- Non-compliance with the live photo capture instructions in Para 17.4 or the signature upload instructions in Para 17.5 leads to rejection of candidature at any stage.
- 3. Debarred list:
- A candidate whose name appears in the debarred list of any RRB or RRC is rejected.
- 4. False information:
- If at any stage, or even after appointment, it is found that information is false or incorrect, that relevant information was suppressed, or that the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, candidature is rejected, appointment is cancelled, an appointed candidate is removed from service, and the candidate is debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations for life.
- 5. Unfair means:
- Forgery, impersonation, cheating, misconduct, use or attempted use of banned items, misrepresentation or suppression of facts, or submission of a false document leads to lifetime debarment from all RRB and RRC examinations, debarment from appointment in the Railways, dismissal if already appointed, and legal action under the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act and Rules, 2024. RRBs carry out post-examination log analysis, photograph and biometric verification and CCTV review.
- 6. Scribe misuse:
- Unauthorised use of a scribe or of compensatory time leads to disqualification and, if already appointed, removal from service without notice. A scribe found independently answering questions causes the candidate's session to be terminated and candidature cancelled; a person may act as scribe for only one candidate in the same CEN, and a candidate may not act as scribe for another.
- 7. Absence at Document Verification:
- Candidature is cancelled if a candidate is absent for Document Verification or fails to produce original certificates on the date of verification.
- 8. Misuse of free travel:
- Misuse of the free train travel facility leads to rejection of candidature at any stage and debarment from future examinations.
- 9. Viewing rejection reasons:
- Details of rejected applications and the reasons for rejection can be viewed by logging in on the concerned RRB website; the decision is final and binding, no correspondence is entertained, and no fee is refunded. SMS and email alerts are sent; candidates are not intimated by post.

- 1. Notice's own date:
- The detailed CEN carries no reference number and no date of issue of its own - the page-1 header shows only 'CENTRALISED EMPLOYMENT NOTIFICATION (CEN) No. 02/2026' with no dateline, and the document ends with annexure formats rather than a dated signature block. The only publication date printed anywhere is the 'Date of Indicative Notice in Employment News - 23.05.2026' in the IMPORTANT DATES table at Para 2.0 on page 1.
- 2. Document:
- 62 numbered pages (66 pages in the PDF, the first four being the cover, table of contents, list of annexures and the 'Details of Vacancies at a Glance' table).
- 3. Vacancy tables reconcile:
- The vacancy figures were cross-checked. The 25 rows of the 'Details of Vacancies at a Glance' table sum to the printed total of 6,557, and to 6,234 for the 24 Technician Grade-III categories. The RRB and zone-wise table at Annexure B reproduces the same 6,557 by three independent routes: the 21 RRB totals, the 25 post totals and the 20 Railway zone / production unit columns each sum to 6,557, and every community column (UR 2,728, SC 1,009, ST 597, OBC-NCL 1,565, EWS 658) sums both across the rows and down to the printed ALL RRB GRAND TOTAL.
- 4. Merged Post Categories:
- Of the 25 notified post categories, 8 at Pay Level-2 are Merged Post Categories (category numbers 9, 10, 12, 14, 15, 18, 19 and 25) and 17 are single categories, as listed in Annexure C.
- 5. Abbreviations:

- 6. Scribe facility:
- Candidates with benchmark disabilities in the categories of blindness, locomotor disability with both arms affected, and cerebral palsy are entitled to a scribe on request. Other benchmark disability categories may use a scribe on producing a certificate from a Chief Medical Officer, Civil Surgeon or Medical Superintendent of a government health care institution in the format at Annexure V(F), with the undertaking at Annexure V(C). Candidates with less than 40 per cent disability covered by Section 2(s) but not Section 2(r) of the RPwD Act, 2016 who have difficulty writing may use a scribe on producing Annexure V(D) and the undertaking at Annexure V(E). One-eyed candidates and those with visual disability below 40 per cent are not treated as visually impaired. Scribes must be arranged by the candidate at his or her own cost and must complete One-Time Registration at rrbapply.gov.in; the scribe's qualification must be one step below the candidate's. Compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour is given to candidates permitted a scribe, including those eligible who choose not to use one.
