Fee Structure
Application Fee
- 1. All candidates except those listed below:
- Rs. 500. Out of this fee of Rs. 500, an amount of Rs. 400 shall be refunded, duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
- 2. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, female, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates:
- Rs. 250. This fee of Rs. 250 shall be refunded, duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
- 3. Modification fee:
- Rs. 250 (non-refundable) for each occasion on which the submitted application is modified, payable by all candidates irrespective of community and category, during the modification window from 14-05-2025 to 23-05-2025.
- 4. Fee difference on modification:
- A candidate modifying his or her community from SC/ST to UR, OBC or EWS must pay the difference in examination fee of Rs. 250 in addition to the modification fee. Similarly, a candidate switching from Ex-Servicemen, female or transgender to UR, OBC-NCL, EWS, non-Ex-Servicemen or male must pay the same Rs. 250 difference in addition to the modification fee. Failure to do so means the modified application will not be accepted.
Payment Methods
- 1. Online only:
- Only online fee payment through internet banking, debit or credit cards, or UPI will be accepted. There is no option to pay the fee through any other mode. All applicable service charges are borne by the candidate.
- 2. Applications without fee:
- Applications received without the prescribed fee shall not be considered and will be summarily rejected; no representation against such rejection will be entertained.
- 3. Common Services Centres:
- Candidates may use the services of the Common Services Centres (CSC) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for online submission of the application form and payment of fee through e-wallet. The list is available at www.csc.gov.in and the nearest centre can be found at https://findmycsc.nic.in/csc/.
Other Information
- 1. Who gets a refund:
- Only candidates who attend CBT-1 get a refund of their examination fee. The refundable portion is Rs. 400 for the Rs. 500 fee and Rs. 250 for the Rs. 250 fee, in each case less bank charges.
- 2. Bank details required:
- All candidates must clearly state their bank details (name of bank, name of account holder, account number and IFSC code) in the application form to receive the refundable portion. The responsibility for furnishing correct bank account details lies with the candidate and the RRB will not entertain any correspondence on this ground.
- 3. No refund:
- There is no refund of examination fee for wrong or incomplete beneficiary details, or for erroneous, incomplete or rejected applications. No refund is made for rejected applications. In the event of the notified vacancies being cancelled, the fee is not refunded except to candidates who attended CBT-1.
- 4. Minority fee concession:
- Minorities include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians (Parsis) given minority status by the State or Union Territory to which the candidate belongs. Minority candidates claiming waiver of the examination fee must furnish an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper stating their minority community at Document Verification, in the format at Annexure V, failing which their candidature is rejected.
- 5. Economically Backward Class (EBC) fee concession:
- EBC candidates are those whose annual family income is less than Rs. 50,000. They must hold a valid income certificate on the date of application in the format at Annexure IV, issued by a District Magistrate or Revenue Officer up to the level of Tahsildar, a sitting Member of the Lok Sabha for persons of their own constituency, a sitting Member of the Rajya Sabha for persons of the district in which the MP normally resides, or a Union Minister for any person anywhere in the country; or alternatively a BPL card or other certificate issued by the Central Government under a recognised poverty alleviation programme, or an Izzat MST issued by the Railways. The original must be produced at Document Verification, failing which the candidature is rejected.
- 6. EBC, EWS and OBC are distinct:
- The notice repeatedly cautions that EBC should not be confused with OBC or EWS. EBC candidates are entitled only to a fee concession and not to job reservation.

How to Apply
- 1. Mode:
- Applications must be submitted ONLINE ONLY through the link given for this CEN on the official RRB websites, complete in all respects, by 23:59 hours of the closing date.
- 2. One RRB only:
- A candidate is allowed to choose only one RRB and submit only one online application for the notified post within the chosen RRB. Selection of RRB, once exercised and the application submitted, is final and cannot be changed later.
- 3. Create an Account:
- During the online application the candidate is asked to create an account. A candidate who already created an account for any Indian Railways CEN of 2024, before April 2025, should use the same account credentials to log in and apply for CEN No. 01/2025. Candidates who have not created an account must first create one. An active personal mobile number and a valid email ID are needed to receive OTPs.
- 4. Details that can never be modified:
- Twelve details filled in the 'Create an Account' form - mobile number and email ID, applicant name, father's name, mother's name, gender, nationality, date of birth, matriculation roll number and matriculation certificate serial number, matriculation certificate date and eKYC - cannot be modified under any circumstances at any stage once the account is created. The chosen RRB also cannot be changed.
- 5. Aadhaar authentication:
- Candidates are advised, in their own interest, to authenticate their identity using Aadhaar during the 'Create an Account' stage, or later during the application filling process using the 'Verify Aadhaar' facility, at any point before final submission. Applicants who verify their identity with alternate photo IDs will be subjected to significantly stricter and more detailed scrutiny at every stage.
- 6. Name entry:
- Candidates should enter their name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth exactly as recorded in the SSC/SSLC/Matriculation/10th class certificate or equivalent. If the name has since changed, both the changed name and the certificate name must be indicated at the appropriate places, and the change must predate the submission of the online application. A gazette notification or other legal document with a valid photo ID in the changed name must be submitted at CBT-1, CBT-2, CBAT or Document Verification.
- 7. Fee payment:
- After submission, the candidate is directed to choose the mode of payment of the examination fee and complete the payment. Acceptance of the online application happens only after confirmation of fee payment, and a confirmation is sent by email and SMS.
- 8. Modification:
- After final submission with the requisite fee, a candidate may modify, change or correct any detail except the twelve 'Create an Account' details and the chosen RRB, by paying a non-refundable modification fee of Rs. 250 for each occasion. Modification is allowed any number of times on payment of the fee for each occasion, up to ten days after the closing date, i.e. in the window 14-05-2025 to 23-05-2025.
- 9. Common Services Centres:
- Candidates may use the Common Services Centres (CSC) under the Digital India initiative, managed at village panchayat level by a Village Level Entrepreneur, for online submission of the application form and payment of fee through e-wallet. See www.csc.gov.in and https://findmycsc.nic.in/csc/.
- 10. Registration number:
- Candidates should carefully note and remember their registration number for further stages and correspondence. Any request to provide the registration number will not be entertained.

Exam Pattern
- 1. CBT-1:
- 60 minutes; 75 questions; maximum 75 marks at 1 mark per question; objective type with multiple choice answers; negative marking one-third mark per wrong answer; normalisation across shifts.
- 2. CBT-2 Part-A:
- 90 minutes; 100 questions; counted for shortlisting to further stages; minimum pass percentage UR and EWS 40, OBC-NCL 30, SC 30, ST 25.
- 3. CBT-2 Part-B:
- 60 minutes; 75 questions; qualifying only; 35 percent qualifying for all candidates irrespective of category.
- 4. CBT-2 total:
- 2 hours 30 minutes; 175 questions across Part-A and Part-B; negative marking one-third mark per wrong answer; normalisation across shifts.
- 5. CBAT:
- Computer Based Aptitude Test; English and Hindi only; no negative marking; each test battery must be cleared separately with a minimum T-score of 42.

- The standard of questions for CBT-1 will generally be in conformity with the educational standards and/or minimum technical qualifications prescribed for the post.

- This CEN provides vertical reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Class - Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), wherever applicable and admissible and as communicated by the indenting railways under extant rules. Only communities recognised by the Government of India as SC, ST and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) are eligible for reservation.
- 2. Notified vertical reservation figures:
- Of the 9,970 vacancies: UR 4,116; SC 1,716; ST 858; OBC-NCL 2,289; EWS 991.
- 3. Horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen:
- This CEN provides horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen irrespective of their social community. The 1,004 Ex-Servicemen vacancies shown in the Annexure-B vacancy table are not separate but are included in the total of 9,970. Ex-Servicemen may also apply against unreserved vacancies not exclusively earmarked for them and remain eligible for age relaxation and fee exemption when doing so.
- 4. Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD):
- Annexure-A records the post of Assistant Loco Pilot as Not Suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disability, and no PwBD vacancies are notified.
- 5. Competing against UR:
- All candidates, irrespective of community, are considered against unreserved vacancies subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions required for UR. Vacancies reserved for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS are filled only by candidates of that community. EWS, SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates applying against UR vacancies compete as general candidates without any relaxation or concession in age, qualification or marks at any stage.
- 6. Crucial date for community status:
- Community or category status as on the closing date for submission of applications against this CEN is the only status considered for reservation and related benefits. Any change in status thereafter is not entertained.
- 7. Certificates for reservation:
- EWS, SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates must furnish latest and valid certificates, valid as on the closing date for submission of applications, in original during Document Verification, in the formats at Annexure-I (SC and ST), Annexure-II (OBC-NCL) and Annexure-III (EWS).
- 8. OBC-NCL certificate wording:
- The OBC castes in the latest list published by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, are the basis for claiming OBC reservation. The certificate must specifically state that the candidate does not belong to the creamy layer as mentioned in Column 3 of the Schedule to DoPT OM No. 36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 08/09/93 as modified by GOI DoPT OM No. 36033/1/2013-Estt.(Res.) dated 13/09/2017. A candidate must also submit a self-declaration in the format at Annexure-IIA stating that he does not belong to the creamy layer, failing which he may be treated only as a UR candidate.
- 9. EWS criteria:
- Candidates not covered by the SC/ST/OBC-NCL reservation scheme whose family gross annual income is below Rs. 8 lakh are identified as EWS. Income includes salary, agriculture, business and profession for the financial year prior to the year of the application closing date. Candidates whose family owns 5 acres or more of agricultural land, a residential flat of 1,000 square feet or more, a residential plot of 100 square yards or more in notified municipalities, or a residential plot of 200 square yards or more elsewhere, are excluded irrespective of income. Property in different locations is clubbed. 'Family' means the candidate, his or her parents and siblings below 18 years, and his or her spouse and children below 18 years.
- 10. EWS certifying authorities:
- The income and asset certificate in the format at Annexure III must be issued by a District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Collector, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate or Extra Assistant Commissioner; or a Chief Presidency Magistrate, Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate or Presidency Magistrate; or a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar; or the Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and family normally reside.
- 11. Lohar / Lohara / Lohra caste - Bihar:
- Following the Supreme Court judgement in WP(C) 1052/2021, Sunil Kumar Rai and others versus State of Bihar and others, dated 21.02.2022, candidates who originally belong to the Lohar / Lohara / Lohra caste and belong to or have migrated temporarily or permanently from Bihar must submit, at Document Verification, a latest caste certificate issued after 01.04.2023 and valid on the closing date - as per Annexure-I of the CEN with back reference to Form-II of the Bihar Government for claiming ST, or as per Annexure-II with back reference to Form-VIIA for claiming OBC-NCL.
- 12. Pan / Panr / Sawasi / Tanti-Tantwa castes - Bihar:
- Following the Supreme Court judgement in Civil Appeal No. 18802 of 2017, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Vichar Manch, Bihar, Patna versus State of Bihar and others, dated 15.07.2024, candidates holding an ST or SC community certificate issued before that judgement who originally belong to the Pan, Panr, Sawasi or Tanti-Tantwa caste and belong to or have migrated from Bihar must upload details of a latest caste certificate issued on or after 01.09.2024 with their community and caste modified or added, and must bring that new certificate to Document Verification, failing which their candidature will be treated against the Unreserved category.
- 13. EBC is not a reservation category:
- Economically Backward Class (EBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are different categories. EBC candidates are entitled only to a fee concession and not to any job reservation, and EBC should not be confused with OBC.
Document Requirements
- 1. Photograph to be uploaded:
- A colour Indian passport size photograph, 35 mm width by 45 mm height, with a plain white background; the dress should be non-white, preferably dark. JPG/JPEG format scanned at a minimum of 150 DPI, file size 50 to 150 KB, minimum resolution 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high. The photograph must not be older than two months with respect to the closing date for submission of the application.
- 2. Photograph composition:
- Clear front view without sunglasses, dark glasses, cap or hat; no glare on vision-correction glasses and eyes clearly visible; head occupying at least 50 percent of the area with a full face view looking directly at the camera; the elbow, below-elbow and below-chest portions must not be visible; natural expression with no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows; forehead, both eyes, both cheeks, nose, chin, neck and both shoulders clearly visible and not covered by hair, cloth or shadow; free from signature, name, dates or any other marks.
- 3. Signature to be uploaded:
- Signature on white paper with a black ink pen only, in running handwriting and not in block, capital or disjointed letters. JPG/JPEG format, file size 30 to 49 KB, scanned at a minimum of 100 DPI, minimum resolution 140 pixels wide by 60 pixels high, complete signature visible and centred in a scan box of 35 mm width by 20 mm height. It must be signed by the applicant only.
- 4. SC/ST certificate to be uploaded:
- Only for candidates requesting free passes for train travel. PDF format only, size below 400 KB, legible and clear, and latest and valid on the closing date of submission of the online application.
- 5. Spare photographs:
- Candidates are advised to keep at least 12 copies of the same photograph used in the application, for Document Verification and Medical Examination.
- 6. At the examination:
- Candidates must bring their e-call letter along with a valid original photo ID (voter ID card, Aadhaar card, printout of e-Aadhaar, driving licence, PAN card, passport, employer-issued identity card for government employees, or a school, college or university photo ID card if still studying), failing which they will not be allowed to appear. They must also bring a copy of the same colour passport photograph uploaded with the online application.
- 7. At Document Verification:
- Candidates shortlisted for DV must produce all original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies, and must upload true-colour scanned copies of their photo and signature before their DV date through the portal https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv. No additional time is given to candidates who do not produce their original certificates on their DV date, and such candidature is liable to be forfeited.
- 8. Language of certificates:
- All certificates should be in English or Hindi only. Where a certificate is not in English or Hindi, a self-attested translated version in Hindi or English must be produced. Certificates produced during DV must be strictly in the prescribed formats.
- 9. Certificate formats annexed to the CEN:
- Annexure-I caste certificate for SC and ST candidates; Annexure-II OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate; Annexure-IIA self-declaration of non-creamy-layer status; Annexure-III income and asset certificate for EWS; Annexure-IV income certificate for Economically Backward Class; Annexure-V affidavit for minority community declaration; Annexure-VIA proforma for the eye specialist's vision certificate; Annexure-VIB self-declaration regarding LASIK or other corrective eye surgery; Annexure-VIIA employment certificate with probable date of discharge for serving defence personnel; Annexure-VIIB self-declaration by Ex-Servicemen regarding civil employment.
- 10. Certificate of eligibility:
- Candidates who are not Indian citizens must submit the certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India during Document Verification, failing which their candidature is rejected.
- 11. No Objection Certificate:
- Candidates serving in a government department, PSU, government autonomous body or other government entity must produce an NOC from their employer on the date of Document Verification, failing which their candidature is cancelled.
Important Instructions
- 1. Candidature is provisional:
- The candidature of every shortlisted candidate is purely provisional and is liable to be cancelled at any stage of the recruitment or thereafter in case of any inconsistency or deficiency in the data furnished in the online application, or any malpractice coming to the notice of the RRB. Being called for the next stage does not by itself entitle a candidate to an appointment in the Railways.
- 2. Right to rectify errors:
- While every care has been taken in preparing the result, the RRB reserves the right to rectify any inadvertent error or typographical / printing mistake, and regrets its inability to entertain correspondence from unsuccessful candidates.
- 3. Warning against touts:
- Beware of touts who may misguide candidates with false promises of selection on illegal consideration. The recruitment process in the RRB exams is fully computerised and selection is based purely on the merit of candidates.
- 4. Order of the list:
- The roll numbers are 15 digits, arranged vertically in ascending order and not in order of merit.
- 5. Updates:
- Candidates are advised to look only at the RRB's official website for regular updates and information.
Training Details
- 1. Training and stipend:
- Selected candidates for the post of ALP have to undergo training wherever prescribed, and only a stipend is paid during the training period. The notice does not state the amount or duration of the stipend or training.
Bond or Service Agreement
- 1. Security and indemnity bond:
- Selected candidates shall execute a security and/or indemnity bond wherever necessary.
- 2. Transfer restriction:
- No request for transfer to another railway will be registered until the newly appointed candidate completes at least 5 to 10 years of service.
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. Multiple applications:
- Multiple applications to different RRBs or to the same RRB result in all the applications being rejected summarily and the candidate being debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations. This includes applications submitted with minor changes of information or facts.
- 2. Invalid photograph:
- A photograph not meeting the prescribed specifications - black and white, older than two months with respect to the closing date, photo of a photocopied photograph, undersized within the frame, dark, distracting or non-white background, group photograph, distracting shadows behind the head or across the face, elbow or below-elbow or below-chest portion visible, head or shoulder tilted, side or tilted view, eyes fully closed, hair across eyes or face, glare on eyeglasses, dark glasses, poor resolution, brightness, sharpness, blurred, washed-out or pixelated, unnatural skin tones, bearing a signature, name, date or other marks, torn, creased or marked, unrecognisable facial features, inverted image, selfie, head with cap, helmet or hat, or blank image.
- 3. Invalid signature:
- A signature not meeting the prescribed specifications - non-white background, non-black colour, block, capital or disjointed letters instead of running handwriting, poor resolution, incomplete image, incomplete signature, an image other than a signature, or a blank image.
- 4. Debarred list:
- The candidate's name appearing in the debarred list of any RRB or RRC.
- 5. Other irregularity:
- Any other irregularity, including the listed deviations, found during application scrutiny, before or after the issue of e-call letters for CBT-1, CBT-2 or the CBAT, or during Document Verification.
- 6. False information:
- If at any stage of recruitment or afterwards it is found that a candidate provided false or incorrect information, suppressed relevant information, or does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, the candidature is rejected forthwith. If already appointed, such a candidate is removed from service summarily and is debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations for life.
- 7. Unfair means:
- Any candidate found resorting to unfair means at any stage - forgery, impersonation, cheating, misconduct, use or attempted use of banned items, misrepresentation or suppression of facts, providing wrong information or submitting a false document - will be debarred from appointment in the Railways and, if already appointed, dismissed from service, and is liable to face appropriate legal action. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, effective from 21.06.2024, applies.
- 8. Canvassing:
- Any use of canvassing or unwanted or unfair influence to further undue interests in the recruitment process leads to disqualification and debarment of the candidate concerned, who is also liable to legal action.
- 9. Employer withholding permission:
- If a communication is received by the RRB from a candidate's employer withholding permission for the candidate to apply for or appear in the examination, or at the time of Document Verification, empanelment or appointment, the application or candidature is liable to be rejected or cancelled.
- 10. Where rejections are published:
- Details of rejected applications along with the reason for rejection can be viewed on the website of the RRB concerned by logging in; this is final and binding and no further correspondence is entertained. SMS and email alerts are also sent. Candidates are not intimated by post. No refund of examination fee is made for rejected applications.

Fee Structure
Application Fee
- 1. All candidates except those listed below:
- Rs. 500. Out of this fee of Rs. 500, an amount of Rs. 400 shall be refunded, duly deducting bank charges, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
- 2. SC, ST, Ex-Servicemen, female, transgender, minority and Economically Backward Class (EBC) candidates:
- Rs. 250. This fee of Rs. 250 shall be refunded, duly deducting bank charges as applicable, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
- 3. Modification fee:
- Rs. 250 (non-refundable) for each occasion on which the submitted application is modified, payable by all candidates irrespective of community and category, during the modification window from 14-05-2025 to 23-05-2025.
- 4. Fee difference on modification:
- A candidate modifying his or her community from SC/ST to UR, OBC or EWS must pay the difference in examination fee of Rs. 250 in addition to the modification fee. Similarly, a candidate switching from Ex-Servicemen, female or transgender to UR, OBC-NCL, EWS, non-Ex-Servicemen or male must pay the same Rs. 250 difference in addition to the modification fee. Failure to do so means the modified application will not be accepted.
Payment Methods
- 1. Online only:
- Only online fee payment through internet banking, debit or credit cards, or UPI will be accepted. There is no option to pay the fee through any other mode. All applicable service charges are borne by the candidate.
- 2. Applications without fee:
- Applications received without the prescribed fee shall not be considered and will be summarily rejected; no representation against such rejection will be entertained.
- 3. Common Services Centres:
- Candidates may use the services of the Common Services Centres (CSC) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology for online submission of the application form and payment of fee through e-wallet. The list is available at www.csc.gov.in and the nearest centre can be found at https://findmycsc.nic.in/csc/.
Other Information
- 1. Who gets a refund:
- Only candidates who attend CBT-1 get a refund of their examination fee. The refundable portion is Rs. 400 for the Rs. 500 fee and Rs. 250 for the Rs. 250 fee, in each case less bank charges.
- 2. Bank details required:
- All candidates must clearly state their bank details (name of bank, name of account holder, account number and IFSC code) in the application form to receive the refundable portion. The responsibility for furnishing correct bank account details lies with the candidate and the RRB will not entertain any correspondence on this ground.
- 3. No refund:
- There is no refund of examination fee for wrong or incomplete beneficiary details, or for erroneous, incomplete or rejected applications. No refund is made for rejected applications. In the event of the notified vacancies being cancelled, the fee is not refunded except to candidates who attended CBT-1.
- 4. Minority fee concession:
- Minorities include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians (Parsis) given minority status by the State or Union Territory to which the candidate belongs. Minority candidates claiming waiver of the examination fee must furnish an affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper stating their minority community at Document Verification, in the format at Annexure V, failing which their candidature is rejected.
- 5. Economically Backward Class (EBC) fee concession:
- EBC candidates are those whose annual family income is less than Rs. 50,000. They must hold a valid income certificate on the date of application in the format at Annexure IV, issued by a District Magistrate or Revenue Officer up to the level of Tahsildar, a sitting Member of the Lok Sabha for persons of their own constituency, a sitting Member of the Rajya Sabha for persons of the district in which the MP normally resides, or a Union Minister for any person anywhere in the country; or alternatively a BPL card or other certificate issued by the Central Government under a recognised poverty alleviation programme, or an Izzat MST issued by the Railways. The original must be produced at Document Verification, failing which the candidature is rejected.
- 6. EBC, EWS and OBC are distinct:
- The notice repeatedly cautions that EBC should not be confused with OBC or EWS. EBC candidates are entitled only to a fee concession and not to job reservation.

How to Apply
- 1. Mode:
- Applications must be submitted ONLINE ONLY through the link given for this CEN on the official RRB websites, complete in all respects, by 23:59 hours of the closing date.
- 2. One RRB only:
- A candidate is allowed to choose only one RRB and submit only one online application for the notified post within the chosen RRB. Selection of RRB, once exercised and the application submitted, is final and cannot be changed later.
- 3. Create an Account:
- During the online application the candidate is asked to create an account. A candidate who already created an account for any Indian Railways CEN of 2024, before April 2025, should use the same account credentials to log in and apply for CEN No. 01/2025. Candidates who have not created an account must first create one. An active personal mobile number and a valid email ID are needed to receive OTPs.
- 4. Details that can never be modified:
- Twelve details filled in the 'Create an Account' form - mobile number and email ID, applicant name, father's name, mother's name, gender, nationality, date of birth, matriculation roll number and matriculation certificate serial number, matriculation certificate date and eKYC - cannot be modified under any circumstances at any stage once the account is created. The chosen RRB also cannot be changed.
- 5. Aadhaar authentication:
- Candidates are advised, in their own interest, to authenticate their identity using Aadhaar during the 'Create an Account' stage, or later during the application filling process using the 'Verify Aadhaar' facility, at any point before final submission. Applicants who verify their identity with alternate photo IDs will be subjected to significantly stricter and more detailed scrutiny at every stage.
- 6. Name entry:
- Candidates should enter their name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth exactly as recorded in the SSC/SSLC/Matriculation/10th class certificate or equivalent. If the name has since changed, both the changed name and the certificate name must be indicated at the appropriate places, and the change must predate the submission of the online application. A gazette notification or other legal document with a valid photo ID in the changed name must be submitted at CBT-1, CBT-2, CBAT or Document Verification.
- 7. Fee payment:
- After submission, the candidate is directed to choose the mode of payment of the examination fee and complete the payment. Acceptance of the online application happens only after confirmation of fee payment, and a confirmation is sent by email and SMS.
- 8. Modification:
- After final submission with the requisite fee, a candidate may modify, change or correct any detail except the twelve 'Create an Account' details and the chosen RRB, by paying a non-refundable modification fee of Rs. 250 for each occasion. Modification is allowed any number of times on payment of the fee for each occasion, up to ten days after the closing date, i.e. in the window 14-05-2025 to 23-05-2025.
- 9. Common Services Centres:
- Candidates may use the Common Services Centres (CSC) under the Digital India initiative, managed at village panchayat level by a Village Level Entrepreneur, for online submission of the application form and payment of fee through e-wallet. See www.csc.gov.in and https://findmycsc.nic.in/csc/.

- 1. City intimation advice:
- All shortlisted candidates will be advised through the website, SMS or e-mail to download their city intimation advice to appear in the 2nd Stage CBT about 10 days prior to the examination.
Reservation Details
- 1. Vertical reservation:
- This CEN provides vertical reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Scheduled Caste (SC), Scheduled Tribe (ST) and Other Backward Class - Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), wherever applicable and admissible and as communicated by the indenting railways under extant rules. Only communities recognised by the Government of India as SC, ST and OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) are eligible for reservation.
- 2. Notified vertical reservation figures:
- Of the 9,970 vacancies: UR 4,116; SC 1,716; ST 858; OBC-NCL 2,289; EWS 991.
- 3. Horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen:
- This CEN provides horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen irrespective of their social community. The 1,004 Ex-Servicemen vacancies shown in the Annexure-B vacancy table are not separate but are included in the total of 9,970. Ex-Servicemen may also apply against unreserved vacancies not exclusively earmarked for them and remain eligible for age relaxation and fee exemption when doing so.
- 4. Persons with Benchmark Disability (PwBD):
- Annexure-A records the post of Assistant Loco Pilot as Not Suitable for Persons with Benchmark Disability, and no PwBD vacancies are notified.
- 5. Competing against UR:
- All candidates, irrespective of community, are considered against unreserved vacancies subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions required for UR. Vacancies reserved for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS are filled only by candidates of that community. EWS, SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates applying against UR vacancies compete as general candidates without any relaxation or concession in age, qualification or marks at any stage.
- 6. Crucial date for community status:
- Community or category status as on the closing date for submission of applications against this CEN is the only status considered for reservation and related benefits. Any change in status thereafter is not entertained.
- 7. Certificates for reservation:
- EWS, SC, ST and OBC-NCL candidates must furnish latest and valid certificates, valid as on the closing date for submission of applications, in original during Document Verification, in the formats at Annexure-I (SC and ST), Annexure-II (OBC-NCL) and Annexure-III (EWS).
- 8. OBC-NCL certificate wording:
- The OBC castes in the latest list published by the Ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment, Government of India, are the basis for claiming OBC reservation. The certificate must specifically state that the candidate does not belong to the creamy layer as mentioned in Column 3 of the Schedule to DoPT OM No. 36012/22/93-Estt.(SCT) dated 08/09/93 as modified by GOI DoPT OM No. 36033/1/2013-Estt.(Res.) dated 13/09/2017. A candidate must also submit a self-declaration in the format at Annexure-IIA stating that he does not belong to the creamy layer, failing which he may be treated only as a UR candidate.
- 9. EWS criteria:
- Candidates not covered by the SC/ST/OBC-NCL reservation scheme whose family gross annual income is below Rs. 8 lakh are identified as EWS. Income includes salary, agriculture, business and profession for the financial year prior to the year of the application closing date. Candidates whose family owns 5 acres or more of agricultural land, a residential flat of 1,000 square feet or more, a residential plot of 100 square yards or more in notified municipalities, or a residential plot of 200 square yards or more elsewhere, are excluded irrespective of income. Property in different locations is clubbed. 'Family' means the candidate, his or her parents and siblings below 18 years, and his or her spouse and children below 18 years.
- 10. EWS certifying authorities:
- The income and asset certificate in the format at Annexure III must be issued by a District Magistrate, Additional District Magistrate, Collector, Deputy Commissioner, Additional Deputy Commissioner, 1st Class Stipendiary Magistrate, Sub-Divisional Magistrate, Taluka Magistrate, Executive Magistrate or Extra Assistant Commissioner; or a Chief Presidency Magistrate, Additional Chief Presidency Magistrate or Presidency Magistrate; or a Revenue Officer not below the rank of Tehsildar; or the Sub-Divisional Officer of the area where the candidate and family normally reside.
- 11. Lohar / Lohara / Lohra caste - Bihar:
- Following the Supreme Court judgement in WP(C) 1052/2021, Sunil Kumar Rai and others versus State of Bihar and others, dated 21.02.2022, candidates who originally belong to the Lohar / Lohara / Lohra caste and belong to or have migrated temporarily or permanently from Bihar must submit, at Document Verification, a latest caste certificate issued after 01.04.2023 and valid on the closing date - as per Annexure-I of the CEN with back reference to Form-II of the Bihar Government for claiming ST, or as per Annexure-II with back reference to Form-VIIA for claiming OBC-NCL.
- 12. Pan / Panr / Sawasi / Tanti-Tantwa castes - Bihar:
- Following the Supreme Court judgement in Civil Appeal No. 18802 of 2017, Dr Bhimrao Ambedkar Vichar Manch, Bihar, Patna versus State of Bihar and others, dated 15.07.2024, candidates holding an ST or SC community certificate issued before that judgement who originally belong to the Pan, Panr, Sawasi or Tanti-Tantwa caste and belong to or have migrated from Bihar must upload details of a latest caste certificate issued on or after 01.09.2024 with their community and caste modified or added, and must bring that new certificate to Document Verification, failing which their candidature will be treated against the Unreserved category.
- 13. EBC is not a reservation category:
- Economically Backward Class (EBC) and Economically Weaker Section (EWS) are different categories. EBC candidates are entitled only to a fee concession and not to any job reservation, and EBC should not be confused with OBC.
Document Requirements
- 1. Photograph to be uploaded:
- A colour Indian passport size photograph, 35 mm width by 45 mm height, with a plain white background; the dress should be non-white, preferably dark. JPG/JPEG format scanned at a minimum of 150 DPI, file size 50 to 150 KB, minimum resolution 240 pixels wide by 320 pixels high. The photograph must not be older than two months with respect to the closing date for submission of the application.
- 2. Photograph composition:
- Clear front view without sunglasses, dark glasses, cap or hat; no glare on vision-correction glasses and eyes clearly visible; head occupying at least 50 percent of the area with a full face view looking directly at the camera; the elbow, below-elbow and below-chest portions must not be visible; natural expression with no grinning, frowning or raised eyebrows; forehead, both eyes, both cheeks, nose, chin, neck and both shoulders clearly visible and not covered by hair, cloth or shadow; free from signature, name, dates or any other marks.
- 3. Signature to be uploaded:
- Signature on white paper with a black ink pen only, in running handwriting and not in block, capital or disjointed letters. JPG/JPEG format, file size 30 to 49 KB, scanned at a minimum of 100 DPI, minimum resolution 140 pixels wide by 60 pixels high, complete signature visible and centred in a scan box of 35 mm width by 20 mm height. It must be signed by the applicant only.
- 4. SC/ST certificate to be uploaded:
- Only for candidates requesting free passes for train travel. PDF format only, size below 400 KB, legible and clear, and latest and valid on the closing date of submission of the online application.
- 5. Spare photographs:
- Candidates are advised to keep at least 12 copies of the same photograph used in the application, for Document Verification and Medical Examination.
- 6. At the examination:
- Candidates must bring their e-call letter along with a valid original photo ID (voter ID card, Aadhaar card, printout of e-Aadhaar, driving licence, PAN card, passport, employer-issued identity card for government employees, or a school, college or university photo ID card if still studying), failing which they will not be allowed to appear. They must also bring a copy of the same colour passport photograph uploaded with the online application.
- 7. At Document Verification:
- Candidates shortlisted for DV must produce all original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies, and must upload true-colour scanned copies of their photo and signature before their DV date through the portal https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv. No additional time is given to candidates who do not produce their original certificates on their DV date, and such candidature is liable to be forfeited.
- 8. Language of certificates:
- All certificates should be in English or Hindi only. Where a certificate is not in English or Hindi, a self-attested translated version in Hindi or English must be produced. Certificates produced during DV must be strictly in the prescribed formats.
- 9. Certificate formats annexed to the CEN:

- The candidature of every shortlisted candidate is purely provisional and is liable to be cancelled at any stage of the recruitment or thereafter in case of any inconsistency or deficiency in the data furnished in the online application, or any malpractice coming to the notice of the RRB. Being called for the next stage does not by itself entitle a candidate to an appointment in the Railways.
- 2. Right to rectify errors:
- While every care has been taken in preparing the result, the RRB reserves the right to rectify any inadvertent error or typographical / printing mistake, and regrets its inability to entertain correspondence from unsuccessful candidates.
- 3. Warning against touts:
- Beware of touts who may misguide candidates with false promises of selection on illegal consideration. The recruitment process in the RRB exams is fully computerised and selection is based purely on the merit of candidates.
- 4. Order of the list:
- The roll numbers are 15 digits, arranged vertically in ascending order and not in order of merit.
- 5. Updates:
- Candidates are advised to look only at the RRB's official website for regular updates and information.
Training Details
- 1. Training and stipend:
- Selected candidates for the post of ALP have to undergo training wherever prescribed, and only a stipend is paid during the training period. The notice does not state the amount or duration of the stipend or training.
Bond or Service Agreement
- 1. Security and indemnity bond:
- Selected candidates shall execute a security and/or indemnity bond wherever necessary.
- 2. Transfer restriction:
- No request for transfer to another railway will be registered until the newly appointed candidate completes at least 5 to 10 years of service.
Disqualification Criteria
- 1. Multiple applications:
- Multiple applications to different RRBs or to the same RRB result in all the applications being rejected summarily and the candidate being debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations. This includes applications submitted with minor changes of information or facts.
- 2. Invalid photograph:
- A photograph not meeting the prescribed specifications - black and white, older than two months with respect to the closing date, photo of a photocopied photograph, undersized within the frame, dark, distracting or non-white background, group photograph, distracting shadows behind the head or across the face, elbow or below-elbow or below-chest portion visible, head or shoulder tilted, side or tilted view, eyes fully closed, hair across eyes or face, glare on eyeglasses, dark glasses, poor resolution, brightness, sharpness, blurred, washed-out or pixelated, unnatural skin tones, bearing a signature, name, date or other marks, torn, creased or marked, unrecognisable facial features, inverted image, selfie, head with cap, helmet or hat, or blank image.
- 3. Invalid signature:
- A signature not meeting the prescribed specifications - non-white background, non-black colour, block, capital or disjointed letters instead of running handwriting, poor resolution, incomplete image, incomplete signature, an image other than a signature, or a blank image.
- 4. Debarred list:
- The candidate's name appearing in the debarred list of any RRB or RRC.
- 5. Other irregularity:
- Any other irregularity, including the listed deviations, found during application scrutiny, before or after the issue of e-call letters for CBT-1, CBT-2 or the CBAT, or during Document Verification.
- 6. False information:
- If at any stage of recruitment or afterwards it is found that a candidate provided false or incorrect information, suppressed relevant information, or does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, the candidature is rejected forthwith. If already appointed, such a candidate is removed from service summarily and is debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations for life.
- 7. Unfair means:
- Any candidate found resorting to unfair means at any stage - forgery, impersonation, cheating, misconduct, use or attempted use of banned items, misrepresentation or suppression of facts, providing wrong information or submitting a false document - will be debarred from appointment in the Railways and, if already appointed, dismissed from service, and is liable to face appropriate legal action. The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, effective from 21.06.2024, applies.
- 8. Canvassing:
- Any use of canvassing or unwanted or unfair influence to further undue interests in the recruitment process leads to disqualification and debarment of the candidate concerned, who is also liable to legal action.
- 9. Employer withholding permission:
- If a communication is received by the RRB from a candidate's employer withholding permission for the candidate to apply for or appear in the examination, or at the time of Document Verification, empanelment or appointment, the application or candidature is liable to be rejected or cancelled.
- 10. Where rejections are published:
- Details of rejected applications along with the reason for rejection can be viewed on the website of the RRB concerned by logging in; this is final and binding and no further correspondence is entertained. SMS and email alerts are also sent. Candidates are not intimated by post. No refund of examination fee is made for rejected applications.
