Job Details

Detailed Centralised Employment Notice CEN 01/2025 invites applications for Assistant Loco Pilot in Indian Railways across participating RRBs. Candidates must meet A-1 medical standards; those selected will undergo training (stipend paid during training) and will be posted in Zonal Railways/Units as per merit, medical fitness and vacancy. Recruitment stages comprise CBT-1, CBT-2 (Part-A for merit; Part-B qualifying), CBAT, Document Verification and Medical Examination.

Exam Pattern

1. CBT-1 nature:
Screening test; marks not counted for final merit; shortlisting for CBT-2 is RRB-wise.
2. CBT-1 pattern:
Duration 60 minutes; 75 questions; 1 mark per question; negative marking 1/3; minimum qualifying—UR/EWS 40%, OBC(NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%; normalization for multi-shift exams.
3. CBT-1 sections:
Mathematics; Mental Ability; General Science; General Awareness.
4. CBT-2 structure:
Total 2 hr 30 min (Part-A: 90 min, 100 Q; Part-B: 60 min, 75 Q). Negative marking 1/3; normalization applied.
5. CBT-2 Part-A qualifying:
UR/EWS 40%, OBC(NCL) 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%; Part-A marks count for merit.
6. CBT-2 Part-B:
Trade syllabus per DGT; qualifying nature with 35% for all; Degree/Diploma candidates must choose appropriate trade per mapping.
7. CBAT:
English/Hindi only; no negative marking; mandatory to qualify each test battery; minimum T-score 42 in each; Vision Certificate (Annexure VIA) in original required to appear.
8. Languages:
CBT-1 and CBT-2 available in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages; CBAT in English and Hindi only.

Number system, BODMAS, Decimals, Fractions, LCM, HCF, Ratio & Proportion, Percentages, Mensuration, Time & Work, Time & Distance, SI/CI, Profit & Loss, Algebra, Geometry & Trigonometry, Elementary Statistics, Square Root, Age, Calendar & Clock, Pipes & Cistern.
2. CBT-1 Mental Ability:
Analogies, Series, Coding-Decoding, Mathematical operations, Relationships, Syllogism, Jumbling, Venn Diagram, Data Interpretation & Sufficiency, Conclusions & Decision Making, Similarities & Differences, Analytical reasoning, Classification, Directions, Statement–Arguments & Assumptions.
3. CBT-1 General Science:
Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences of 10th standard level.
4. CBT-1 General Awareness:
Current affairs, science & technology, sports, culture, personalities, economics, politics and other important subjects.
5. CBT-2 Part-A:
Mathematics; General Intelligence & Reasoning; Basic Science & Engineering (Engineering Drawing, Units, Measurement, Work, Power & Energy, Speed & Velocity, Heat & Temperature, Basic Electricity, Simple Machines, OSH, Environment Education, IT Literacy).
6. CBT-2 Part-B (Trade):
Questions from DGT trade syllabi; qualifying at 35% for all categories. Trade selection per qualification mapping provided.

Selection Process

1. Stages:
CBT-1 → CBT-2 (Part-A for merit; Part-B qualifying) → Computer Based Aptitude Test (CBAT) → Document Verification → Medical Examination.
2. Shortlisting ratios:
For CBT-2: up to 15 times vacancies RRB-wise; For CBAT: up to 8 times vacancies by community/category among those qualifying Part-B.
3. Merit formula:
Final merit for ALP based on 70% of CBT-2 Part-A marks + 30% of CBAT score; candidates must qualify each CBAT test battery.
4. Negative marking:
1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer in CBT-1 and CBT-2; no negative marking in CBAT.
5. Normalization:
Applied wherever exams are held in multiple shifts.

Admit Card Details

1. E-call letters:
Download from respective RRB website about 4 days before CBT/CBAT; city intimation about 10 days prior; no postal dispatch.
2. Travel pass:
Eligible SC/ST candidates’ e-call letter will contain free Sleeper Class railway pass for travel to exam stages.
3. Documents to carry:
E-call letter, original valid Photo ID, and a copy of the same colour passport photo uploaded in the application.

Reservation Details

1. Vertical reservation:
EWS, SC, ST and OBC(NCL) reservation applicable as per vacancy table and rules; all candidates considered against UR subject to eligibility.
2. Horizontal reservation:
Ex-Servicemen reservation provided and included within total vacancies.
3. OBC-NCL certificate:
Must state non-inclusion in Creamy Layer as per DoPT instructions and be valid as on closing date; self-declaration (Annexure IIA) also required at DV.
4. EWS requirement:
Income & Asset Certificate (Annexure III) valid as on closing date; family income below Rs 8 lakh and property criteria as specified.
5. EBC clarification:
EBC is distinct from OBC/EWS; entitled only to fee concession, not job reservation.

Document Requirements

1. Original documents at DV:
All original certificates with two self-attested sets; upload scanned photo & signature before DV via https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv.
2. Vision certificate for CBAT:
Original Vision Certificate in prescribed format (Annexure VIA) must be produced to appear in CBAT; LASIK/other corrective eye surgery not permitted.
3. Medical self-declaration:
Self-declaration regarding LASIK/other corrective eye surgery (Annexure VIB) as applicable.
4. Community/EWS certificates:
Valid SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS certificates in prescribed formats (Annexures I/II/III) as on closing date.
5. NOC:
No Objection Certificate from present employer for serving Govt/PSU/Autonomous body employees at DV.
6. Bank details for refund:
Candidates must provide correct bank account details in the application for examination fee refund after CBT-1.

Important Instructions

1. Single application:
Apply to only one RRB; multiple applications to same/different RRBs will be rejected and lead to debarment.
2. Banned items:
Mobile phones, Bluetooth devices, calculators, smart watches, metallic items, wallets/purses, belts, shoes, and stationery are not allowed at the exam venue; cloak room may not be available.
3. Photo/Signature specs:
Strict specifications apply; non-standard or mismatched photograph/signature at any stage will lead to cancellation and debarment.
4. Communication:
Keep registered mobile number and email active; all communications via SMS/email only.
5. Free travel misuse:
Misuse of free travel facility by SC/ST candidates will lead to cancellation and legal action.
6. Unfair means:
Use of unfair means attracts action under The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024 and lifetime debarment.

Training Details

1. Training:
Selected candidates will undergo prescribed training; only stipend is paid during training.

Bond or Service Agreement

1. Security/Indemnity Bond:
Selected candidates shall execute Security and/or Indemnity Bond wherever necessary.

Disqualification Criteria

1. Invalid applications:
Multiple applications, invalid/mismatched photograph or signature, candidature found in Debarred List, or other irregularities will lead to rejection (Para 16.0).
2. Ineligibility/false information:
Suppression of facts or false information at any stage will lead to cancellation/termination and debarment.
