Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) No. 08/2025 of the Railway Recruitment Boards, Ministry of Railways, Government of India, for recruitment to 312 vacancies in eight Isolated Categories posts in the Zonal Railways and Production Units of Indian Railways: Chief Law Assistant, Public Prosecutor, Junior Translator (Hindi), Senior Publicity Inspector, Staff and Welfare Inspector, Scientific Assistant (Training), Lab Assistant Grade III (Chemist and Metallurgist) and Scientific Supervisor (Ergonomics and Training). The posts carry 7th CPC Pay Matrix Levels 2, 6 and 7. Selection is through a single stage Computer Based Test conducted by the Railway Recruitment Boards, followed by a qualifying Translation Test for Junior Translator (Hindi), Document Verification and Medical Examination.

Fee Structure

Application Fee

1. All candidates except the fee-concession categories below:: Rs. 500/-. Of this, Rs. 400/- is refunded in due course after deducting bank charges, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
2. PwBD, female, transgender and Ex-Servicemen candidates, and candidates belonging to SC, ST, minority communities or the Economically Backward Class (EBC):: Rs. 250/-. This fee is refunded in full in due course after deducting bank charges, on appearing in the 1st Stage CBT.
3. Modification fee:: Rs. 250/- (non-refundable) for each occasion on which a submitted application is modified. It is payable by all candidates irrespective of community or category.

Payment Methods

1. Online only:: Fee can be paid only online, through internet banking, debit or credit cards, or UPI. There is no option to pay by any other mode, and all applicable service charges are borne by the candidate.
2. Applications without fee:: Applications received without the prescribed fee are not considered and are summarily rejected; no representation against such rejection is entertained.

Other Information

1. Refund condition:: Only candidates who attend the 1st stage CBT get a refund of the refundable portion of the examination fee.
2. Refund account:: Candidates should confirm whether they wish to receive the refundable portion in the account from which payment was made, or provide beneficiary details (name, account number, bank name and IFSC code). The responsibility for furnishing correct bank account details lies with the candidate.
3. No refund cases:: The examination fee is not refunded where the application is incomplete, has not been submitted, or is rejected. If the notified vacancies are cancelled, the fee is not refunded except to candidates who have attended the CBT.
4. Minority communities:: Minorities include Muslims, Christians, Sikhs, Buddhists, Jains and Zoroastrians (Parsis), subject to any revision, deletion or inclusion received up to the closing date. Candidates availing the fee waiver on this ground must furnish a 'Minority Community Declaration' affidavit on non-judicial stamp paper at Document Verification (Annexure-IV), failing which their candidature is liable to be rejected.
5. Economically Backward Class (EBC):: EBC candidates are those whose annual family income is less than Rs. 50,000/-. They must hold a valid income certificate in the format at Annexure-III(A) on the letterhead of the issuing authority (District Magistrate or a revenue officer up to the level of Tahsildar; a sitting Lok Sabha MP for persons of their own constituency; a sitting Rajya Sabha MP for persons of the district in which the MP normally resides; or a Union Minister for any person), OR a BPL card or other certificate issued by the Central Government under a recognised poverty alleviation programme, OR an Izzat MST issued by the Railways. Details must be entered in the online application and the original produced at Document Verification.
6. EBC, EWS and OBC are distinct:: EBC, EWS and OBC are three distinct categories. EBC candidates are entitled only to fee concession and not to job reservation.
7. Fee difference on modification:: A candidate modifying the community from SC/ST to UR, OBC or EWS, or switching from Ex-Servicemen/female/transgender/PwBD to UR/OBC-NCL/EWS/non-Ex-Servicemen/non-PwBD/male, must pay the difference in examination fee of Rs. 250/- in addition to the modification fee, failing which the modified application is not accepted.

Chief Law Assistant	A University Degree in Law with 3 years standing practice as a Pleader at the Bar. Serving Railway employees who are Law Graduates are also eligible provided they have served for at least 5 years in any branch of the Railway Administration.
Public Prosecutor	Graduate with a Bachelor's degree in Law from a recognised University and five years standing as an advocate at the Bar.
Junior Translator (Hindi)	Master's degree of a recognised University or equivalent in Hindi or English with the other as a compulsory or elective subject or medium of examination at degree level (or the equivalent combinations set out in Annexure-A), AND a recognised Diploma or Certificate Course in translation from Hindi to English and vice versa, or 2 years experience of such translation work in Central or State Government offices including Government of India Undertakings.
Senior Publicity Inspector	Degree from a recognised University and a Diploma in Public Relations / Advertising / Journalism / Mass Communication from a recognised institution or University. Desirable: 2 years experience in related fields.
Staff and Welfare Inspector	Graduation plus a Diploma in Labour / Social Welfare, or a Diploma in Labour Laws, or LLB with papers in Labour Laws, or a PG Diploma in Personnel Management, or MBA with papers in Personnel Management, or MBA/HR, or a PG Diploma in Human Resource Management with relevant papers in Personnel Management, awarded by an institution recognised by the Government of India.
Scientific Assistant (Training)	Second Class Master's Degree in Psychology plus one year experience in administration of psychological tests. Desirable: knowledge of computers and statistics; specialisation in Industrial / Organisational Psychology.
Lab Assistant Grade III (Chemist and Metallurgist)	12th (+2 stage) or equivalent examination with Science (Physics and Chemistry) as subjects, or its equivalent.
Scientific Supervisor (Ergonomics and Training)	Second Class Master's Degree in Psychology or Physiology plus two years experience in administration of psychological tests of mental abilities and personality, or two years research in Work Psychology, or two years experience in developing training modules or conducting training programmes. Desirable: specialisation in Industrial Psychology, Ergonomics / Counselling with knowledge of statistics and computers.
Qualification cut-off date	Candidates must possess the requisite qualification from a recognised Board/University/Institute/Authority as on the closing date for online submission of applications, i.e. 29/01/2026. Those awaiting the final result of the prescribed qualification, to be declared after that date, are not eligible and should not apply.
Certificate dates	Provisional or regular qualification certificates should carry the date of issue. If the date of issue is after the closing date, the consolidated marks sheet with the date of declaration of the final qualifying examination, or individual semester/year mark sheets with the date of declaration of each result, must be produced; failing which, a certificate from the Board/University indicating the date of declaration of result must be produced at Document Verification.

Eligible nationalities

A candidate must be a citizen of India, or a subject of Nepal, or a subject of Bhutan, or a Tibetan refugee who came over to India before 1 January 1962 with the intention of permanently settling in India, or a person of Indian origin who has migrated from Pakistan, Burma, Sri Lanka, the East African countries of Kenya, Uganda, the United Republic of Tanzania, Zambia, Malawi, Zaire, Ethiopia and Vietnam with the intention of permanently settling in India.

Certificate of eligibility

A candidate belonging to any category other than Indian citizen must hold a certificate of eligibility issued by the Government of India. Such a candidate may be admitted to the examination provisionally, but the certificate must be produced at Document Verification, failing which the candidature will be rejected.

LASIK surgery	A candidate with LASIK surgery may be eligible for medical standard B-1 if: no complications related to the surgery are observed; the surgery is at least one year old and substantiated by a medical certificate from the specialist of the institution where it was performed; residual corneal thickness after surgery is not less than 425 microns on pachymetry; visual acuity is as per Para 512(1)(A) of IRMM Vol. I, Third Edition 2000; the fundus is normal; and there is no evidence of progressive eye disease.
Ex-Servicemen and PwBD medical standards	Different medical standards apply to Ex-Servicemen as detailed in Para 534 of the Indian Railway Medical Manual (IRMM) Volume I, and to PwBD candidates as detailed in Para 511(7) of the same manual.
Medical appeal	A candidate who fails to acquire the required medical standard at the initial medical examination may be offered one last and final opportunity to prefer a medical appeal on payment of the prescribed charges, subject to the laid-down conditions. The appeal result is final and binding; if the appeal option is not availed within the allowed time, the initial result stands.
Alternate appointment	A candidate found medically unsuitable for the opted post will not be considered for empanelment for that post, and alternate appointment will not be provided.

7. Other Eligibility

Provisional eligibility	Eligibility is considered provisional on the basis of the details furnished in the online application. RRBs do not undertake detailed scrutiny of applications; certificates and documents are sought at Document Verification, and candidature is cancelled if any claim is not substantiated.
Debarred and dismissed candidates	Candidates debarred by any RRB or RRC, for life or for a period not yet completed, should not apply. Candidates dismissed from service by the Government of India, a State Government, a PSU or any other Government organisation are not eligible.
One application only	Candidates may apply to only one RRB, with one common online application in order of preference for any or all the notified posts for which they are eligible. Multiple applications lead to rejection of all of them and debarment from future RRB and RRC examinations.
NOC for serving employees	Candidates serving, including those undergoing induction training or probation, in any Central or State Government department including the Railways, or in a Public Sector Undertaking, may apply directly after informing their employer, and must produce a No Objection Certificate from the employer on the date of Document Verification, failing which their candidature is cancelled.
Name as per matriculation certificate	The candidate's name, father's name, mother's name and date of birth entered while creating the account must be as recorded in the SSC/SSLC/Matriculation/10th class certificate or an equivalent certificate. A changed name must be indicated separately along with the matriculation name, and the Gazette notification or other legal document, with a valid photo ID in the changed name, must be produced at the CBT/DV.

How to Apply

1. Mode:: Applications are to be submitted online only, through the links provided on the official RRB websites listed at Para 16.0 of the notice. One application only is to be submitted, to the RRB of the candidate's choice, for all its notified posts under this CEN. The selection of RRB once exercised is final.
2. Create an account:: Candidates must first create an account for this CEN using the link on the official RRB websites. Candidates who created an account for CENs notified in 2024 or 2025 should use the same login credentials. A valid personal mobile number and an active email ID are mandatory for receiving OTPs. Details filled in the 'Create an Account' form, including the mobile number and email ID, cannot be modified at any stage once the account is created.
3. Identity authentication:: Candidates are strongly advised to authenticate their identity using DigiLocker or Aadhaar during account creation, or by using the 'Verify Aadhaar' facility while filling in the application, before final submission. Applicants who verify identity through alternate photo IDs are subject to significantly stricter and more detailed scrutiny at every stage.
4. Check eligibility first:: Candidates must go through the Post Parameter Table (Annexure-A) and the Vacancy Table (Annexure-B) to ascertain their eligibility before applying, and only then exercise options for the RRB and the posts within the chosen RRB.
5. Preferences:: The candidate must indicate post-wise preferences and the order of Railway/Production Unit (zone) preference under the chosen RRB. Options once exercised are final.
6. Live photograph:: No pre-existing photograph is uploaded. The application module captures a live photograph at the time of filling in the form, using a webcam or the front camera of a mobile phone. The candidate should wear non-white, preferably dark clothing for contrast, position the camera at eye level, look straight ahead with a neutral expression, keep the whole face visible and centred within the frame, and not wear a cap, mask or spectacles. The photo may be previewed and retaken until the application is submitted. Photographing a printed or digital pre-existing photograph results in summary rejection.
7. Fee payment:: After submitting the application the candidate is directed to the mode of payment of the examination fee. Acceptance of the online application happens only after confirmation of fee payment, which is confirmed by email and SMS.
8. Modification:: After final submission, details other than those in the 'Create an Account' form and the chosen RRB may be modified any number of times on payment of a non-refundable modification fee of Rs. 250 for each occasion, within the modification window of 01/02/2026 to 10/02/2026.
9. Common Service Centres:: Candidates may use the services of the Common Services Centres (CSC) of the Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology under the Digital India initiative for submitting online applications and paying the fee through e-wallet. The list is at www.csc.gov.in and the nearest centre can be found at https://findmycsc.nic.in/csc/.
10. Apply early:: Candidates are advised to register and submit the online application well before the closing date, as heavy load on the internet or the website in the final days may prevent logging in. RRBs accept no responsibility for a failure to register or submit on the last day.

Exam Pattern

1. Mode:: Computer Based Test, objective multiple choice.
2. Duration:: 90 minutes; 120 minutes for candidates eligible for the use of a scribe. A compensatory time of 20 minutes per hour of examination is provided to candidates permitted to use a scribe, and to eligible candidates who choose not to use one.
3. Total questions and marks:: 100 questions of one mark each, total 100 marks.
4. Section-wise pattern (all posts except Junior Translator/Hindi):: Professional Ability 50 questions/50 marks; General Awareness 15/15; General Intelligence and Reasoning 15/15; Mathematics 10/10; General Science 10/10. The distribution is indicative and there may be some variation in the actual question papers.
5. Pattern for Junior Translator (Hindi):: At least 50% of the questions test language proficiency - 20% English and 30% Hindi (30 Hindi and 20 English questions, which are not translated into other languages). The remaining 50 questions test General Knowledge, General Intelligence, Simple Arithmetic and basics of computers. Difficulty level of the language portion is standard 12th (+2 stage).
6. Negative marking:: 1/3 mark deducted for each wrong answer.
7. Medium of examination:: Questions are available in English, Hindi and 13 regional Indian languages - Assamese, Bengali, Gujarati, Kannada, Konkani, Malayalam, Manipuri, Marathi, Odia, Punjabi, Tamil, Telugu and Urdu. Questions are displayed in the opted language and in English. The language option, once selected at the application stage, cannot be changed.
8. Mock tests:: Mock/practice tests are made available on the official RRB websites so that candidates can become familiar with the online examination process.

Syllabus Details

1. General subjects (all posts except Junior Translator/Hindi) - Mathematics:: Number systems, BODMAS, decimals, fractions, LCM and HCF, ratio and proportion, percentage, mensuration, time and work, time and distance, simple and compound interest, profit and loss, algebra, geometry and trigonometry, elementary statistics, square root, age calculations, calendar and clock, pipes and cisterns.
2. General Intelligence and Reasoning:: Analogies, alphabetical and number series, coding and decoding, mathematical operations, relationships, syllogism, jumbling, Venn diagrams, data interpretation and sufficiency, conclusions and decision making, similarities and differences, analytical reasoning, classification, directions, statement-arguments and assumptions.
3. General Awareness:: Current affairs, Indian geography, culture and history of India including the freedom movement, Indian polity and constitution, Indian economy, environmental issues concerning India and the world, sports, and general scientific and technological developments.
4. General Science:: Physics, Chemistry and Life Sciences up to 10th standard CBSE syllabus.
5. Professional Ability:: Fifty questions from the syllabus of the notified post, given post-wise at Annexures VII to XIV: Junior Translator (Hindi) - Annexure VII; Staff and Welfare Inspector - Annexure VIII; Chief Law Assistant - Annexure IX; Senior Publicity Inspector - Annexure X; Lab Assistant Grade III (Chemist and Metallurgist) - Annexure XI; Public Prosecutor - Annexure XII; Scientific Assistant (Training) - Annexure XIII; Scientific Supervisor (Ergonomics and Training) - Annexure XIV.

Selection Process

1. Stages:: A single stage Computer Based Test (CBT), followed by a Translation Test where applicable, Document Verification and Medical Examination. RRBs reserve the right to conduct the CBT in single or multi-stage mode and to conduct additional CBTs, Performance Tests, Skill Tests or Translation Tests if considered necessary.
2. CBT duration and length:: 100 questions in 90 minutes; 120 minutes for candidates eligible for the use of a scribe. Questions are objective multiple choice, of a standard generally in conformity with the educational standard prescribed for the post.
3. Negative marking:: There is negative marking in the CBT: 1/3 of the marks allotted to a question is deducted for each wrong answer.
4. Minimum qualifying percentage:: UR 40%, EWS 40%, OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) 30%, SC 30% and ST 25%. These percentages may be relaxed by 2 marks for PwBD candidates in case of a shortage of PwBD candidates against vacancies reserved for them.
5. Second stage CBT:: Where a second stage CBT is deemed necessary and held, RRBs reserve the right to treat the first stage CBT as a qualifying test for the purpose of shortlisting a reasonable number of candidates for the second stage.
6. Translation Test - Junior Translator (Hindi):: A qualifying Translation Test follows the CBT. It is not part of the main examination. Candidates numbering ten times the vacancies are called for it on the merit of the objective type CBT, duly taking reservation requirements into account; where more than one candidate obtains marks equal to the cut-off, all of them are called even if the number exceeds ten times. The qualifying pass mark is 60%. The merit list for Junior Translator is based on the CBT marks alone, and candidates who do not qualify with 60% in the Translation Test are not considered for further evaluation or selection.
7. Document Verification:: Candidates equal to the number of vacancies are called for Document Verification on the basis of their performance in the CBT and the Translation Test as applicable, according to their merit and options. RRB-wise shortlisting for DV is based on the merit of candidates in the CBT.
8. Tie-breaking:: Where two or more candidates secure the same marks, the older candidate is placed higher in merit; if the ages are also the same, the alphabetical order (A to Z) of the given name, not the surname, is used.
9. Medical Examination:: All candidates successful at Document Verification are sent for medical examination. Appointment is subject to passing the requisite medical fitness test conducted by the Railway Administration or RRB, final verification of educational and community certificates, and verification of antecedents and character.
10. Appointment:: RRBs only recommend the names of empanelled candidates; the offer of appointment is issued only by the respective Railway Administrations. Selection by an RRB does not confer any right of appointment.

Admit Card Details

1. City and date intimation:: Intimation about the city of examination for the CBT and Translation Test is given about 10 days in advance on the RRB websites.
2. e-Call letter:: Eligible candidates can download the e-call letter for the CBT and the Translation Test, and for the scribe where applicable, from the RRB websites about 4 days before the date of the test. No call letter is sent by post.
3. Free travel authority:: For SC and ST candidates who are eligible and have opted for free train travel, the e-call letter itself carries the free travel authority (sleeper class railway pass). They must carry the original community certificate and a prescribed original proof of identity during the journey.
4. Documents to carry:: The e-call letter, a valid original photo ID (voter ID card, Aadhaar card, printout of e-Aadhaar, driving licence, PAN card, passport, employer-issued identity card for Government employees, or a school/college/university photo ID if still studying) and a colour passport photograph not older than two months from the date of the CBT/DV/ME.
5. Self-declaration at the venue:: Candidates must write the self-declaration paragraph, sign it and affix the left thumb impression at the CBT venue in the presence of the invigilator, and hand it over before the conclusion of the examination. Writing the self-declaration in advance, or signing in capital letters, leads to rejection.
6. Exam centre:: Centre and city allocation for CBTs depends on technical and logistical feasibility. Candidates may have to travel to other cities or States, and requests for a change of examination centre are not allowed under any circumstances.
7. Banned items:: Electronic gadgets such as mobile phones, pagers, watches, earphones, Bluetooth-enabled devices, microphones, health bands and calculators, and books, pens, paper, pencils, erasers, pouches, scales, writing pads, belts, handbags, caps, purses, cameras, water bottles and packaged or open food items are not allowed inside the test centre. Only the e-call letter is allowed; a pen is provided during the examination. Candidates are advised not to apply henna on hands or feet as it obstructs the capture of biometrics. Cloak room arrangements may not be available at the venues.

Reservation Details

1. Vertical reservation:: The CEN provides vertical reservation for Economically Weaker Sections (EWS), Scheduled Castes (SC), Scheduled Tribes (ST) and Other Backward Classes - Non-Creamy Layer (OBC-NCL), wherever applicable and admissible and as communicated by the indenting Railways under extant rules.
2. Consideration against UR vacancies:: All candidates, irrespective of community, are considered against unreserved vacancies subject to fulfilling the eligibility conditions required for UR. Vacancies reserved for SC, ST, OBC-NCL and EWS are filled only by candidates of that community, recognised as such by the Government of India.
3. Certificates:: SC and ST candidates must produce a certificate in the format at Annexure-I, OBC-NCL candidates in the format at Annexure-II with a self-declaration at Annexure-II(A), and EWS candidates an Income and Asset Certificate in the format at Annexure-III, in original, at Document Verification.
4. OBC-NCL certificate validity:: The OBC (Non-Creamy Layer) certificate must be issued on or after 01 April 2025 and not later than the closing date of the online application. The certificate number, date of issue and caste must be entered in the online application, and the caste must be in the current central list of OBCs at http://www.ncbc.nic.in. OBCs in a State list but not in the central list are not eligible to claim the reservation. OBC candidates in the creamy layer are not entitled to OBC reservation and may be considered as UR.
5. Bihar caste judgements:: Candidates originally of the LOHAR/LOHARA/LOHRA caste who belong to Bihar or have migrated from Bihar must submit a latest caste certificate issued after 01.04.2023 and valid on the closing date (Supreme Court, WP (C) No. 1052/2021, judgement dated 21.02.2022). Candidates originally of the PAN/PANR/SAWASI/TANTI-TATWA caste who belong to or migrated from Bihar and hold an SC/ST certificate issued before the judgement must upload a latest caste certificate issued on or after 01.09.2024 and produce it at Document Verification, failing which they are treated as Unreserved (Supreme Court Civil Appeal No. 18802 of 2017, judgement dated 15.07.2024).
6. EWS criteria:: Candidates not covered by the SC/ST/OBC-NCL reservation scheme whose family gross annual income is below Rs. 8 lakh are identified as EWS. For this CEN the relevant financial year is 2024-25, the closing date being 29/01/2026. Families owning 5 acres of agricultural land or more, a residential flat of 1000 sq. ft. or more, a residential plot of 100 sq. yards or more in notified municipalities, or a residential plot of 200 sq. yards or more elsewhere, are excluded irrespective of income; property in different locations is clubbed. 'Family' includes the candidate, his or her parents and siblings below 18 years, and his or her spouse and children below 18 years. The Income and Asset Certificate must be issued by one of the authorities listed in Para 8.13 and must be valid as on the closing date.
7. Horizontal reservation:: The CEN provides horizontal reservation for Ex-Servicemen and Persons with Benchmark Disabilities irrespective of community. These vacancies are not separate but are included in the total number of vacancies.
8. Applying without earmarked vacancies:: Ex-Servicemen may apply against regular vacancies of any post without separate earmarked ExSM vacancies, and PwBD candidates of a particular disability may apply against regular vacancies of any post not having earmarked PwBD vacancies, provided the post has been identified as suitable for that disability. In both cases they remain eligible for the applicable age relaxation and fee exemption.
9. Unfilled PwBD vacancies:: Regular PwBD vacancies that cannot be filled for want of suitable candidates are carried forward as backlog vacancies to the next recruitment cycle. Backlog PwBD vacancies indicated in this CEN may be filled by candidates of other disabilities for which the post is suitable, and if no PwBD candidate of any suitable disability is available, by regular candidates in order of merit.
10. Benchmark disabilities recognised:: Under the Rights of Persons with Disabilities Act, 2016: blindness and low vision (VI); deaf and hard of hearing (HI); locomotor disability (LD) including cerebral palsy, leprosy cured, dwarfism, acid attack victims and muscular dystrophy; autism, intellectual disability, specific learning disability and mental illness (OD); and multiple disabilities including deaf-blindness (MD), in the posts identified for each disability.
11. Ex-Servicemen definition and conditions:: The term Ex-Serviceman covers persons who served in any rank, combatant or non-combatant, in the regular Army, Navy or Air Force of the Indian Union, but not persons who served in the Defence Security Corps, the General Reserve Engineering Force, the Lok Sahayak Sena or the Para Military Forces, and who meet one of the release conditions in Para 10.1. Serving Defence personnel expected to be released within one year of the closing date may also apply, and must submit an employment certificate with the probable date of discharge in the format at Annexure-VI(A) and a self-declaration at Annexure-VI. Ex-Servicemen who have already secured civil employment under the Central Government in Group 'C' or erstwhile 'D' after availing Ex-Servicemen benefits are permitted only age relaxation, and are not considered against vacancies reserved for Ex-Servicemen.
12. Community status crucial date:: The crucial date for a claim of SC, ST, OBC, EWS or EBC status, or of any other benefit such as fee concession, reservation or age relaxation, where not otherwise specified, is the closing date for submission of online applications. Any subsequent change in community status is not recognised for this recruitment.

Document Requirements

1. Uploaded with the online application:: A scanned image of the candidate's signature in JPG/JPEG format, and, for candidates requesting a free train travel pass, the SC/ST certificate in PDF format.
2. Signature specifications:: In the candidate's own running handwriting, using a black ink pen on white paper, in cursive or joined letters and not in block, capital or disjointed letters; scanned at a minimum resolution of 100 DPI; JPG/JPEG format; file size between 30 KB and 49 KB; minimum image dimensions 140 x 60 pixels; positioned and centred within a scan box of 35 mm x 20 mm. Grounds for rejection include a non-white background, non-black ink, block or capital letters, poor resolution, an incomplete or partially visible signature, an image other than the signature, a blank signature, and a thumb impression in place of a signature. Some categories of PwBD candidates whose disability prevents them from signing may upload a fingerprint image in the order: left hand thumb, right hand thumb, any finger of the hands, any finger of the legs.
3. SC/ST certificate specifications:: PDF format only, less than 400 KB, legible and clear, and the latest valid certificate as on the closing date of online application submission.
4. At Document Verification:: All original documents along with two sets of self-attested photocopies. Candidates must also upload true-colour scanned copies of their photo and signature before their DV date through the portal https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv. All certificates must be in English or Hindi; otherwise a self-attested translated version must be produced. Certificates must be strictly in the prescribed formats annexed to the CEN; certificates in any other format are not accepted. No additional time is given for producing originals, and candidates absent from DV forfeit their candidature.
5. Category and relaxation certificates:: Candidates seeking reserved vacancies or age relaxation must submit the relevant original certificate from the competent authority in the prescribed format at DV; otherwise the claim to SC/ST/OBC-NCL/EWS/ExSM status is not entertained and the application is considered under the General (UR) category if eligible.
6. NOC:: Serving Central or State Government, Railway or PSU employees must produce a No Objection Certificate from their employer at Document Verification.
7. Certificate formats annexed:: Annexure-I caste certificate for SC/ST; Annexure-II OBC-NCL certificate; Annexure-II(A) self declaration by OBC (NCL) candidates; Annexure-III income and asset certificate for EWS; Annexure-III(A) income certificate for EBC; Annexure-IV proforma for waiver of examination fee by minority candidates; Annexure-V(A) to V(G) disability certificates, letters of undertaking for using a scribe and certificate of physical limitation; Annexure-VI declaration by Ex-Servicemen; Annexure-VI(A) proforma of certificate for employed officials (Ex-Servicemen).

Important Instructions

1. Eligibility as on the closing date:: Candidates must possess and fulfil all eligibility conditions prescribed for the posts as on the closing date for online submission of applications, 29/01/2026. Candidates awaiting the final result of the prescribed educational qualification, to be declared after that date, should not apply.
2. Read the CEN first:: Candidates are advised to read the entire instructions and information in the CEN, available on the RRB websites, before filling in the online application.
3. Official websites only:: Candidates should visit only the official RRB websites indicated at Para 16.0 and be cautious about fake websites and job racketeers. RRBs do not appoint agents or coaching centres.
4. Mobile number and email:: Candidates must have their own mobile number and a valid, active personal email ID and keep them active for the entire duration of the recruitment, as all communication is sent by SMS and/or email. Requests for a change of mobile number or email address are not entertained at any stage.
5. One RRB only:: Applications to more than one RRB, or more than one application to the same RRB, lead to rejection of all the applications and to disqualification and debarment from the recruitment process and from future RRB and RRC examinations.
6. Medical standards:: Candidates must ensure that they fulfil the prescribed medical standards for the posts they opt for. A candidate found medically unsuitable for the opted post at the time of appointment is not given an alternate appointment.
7. Photograph and signature:: A live image and a signature in running handwriting must be uploaded as prescribed. Applications with blurred, illegible or non-standard photographs or signatures are liable to be rejected at any stage. Signatures must be uniform and identical at all stages; no capital-letter signature is acceptable.
8. Provisional admission:: Admission to all stages of the recruitment process is purely provisional, subject to the candidate satisfying the prescribed eligibility conditions.
9. Transfer restriction:: Ordinarily a Railway servant is employed throughout service on the Railway or establishment to which first posted, and has no claim as of right to a transfer. No request for transfer to another Railway is registered until the newly appointed candidate completes between 5 and 10 years of service; candidates are therefore advised to choose their RRB with care.
10. Territorial Army liability:: Selected candidates who are finally appointed are liable for active service in the Railway Engineers' Unit of the Territorial Army.
11. Score sharing:: RRBs may, with the consent of candidates, share their scores with other Ministries, Departments, Public Sector Undertakings and private organisations for their own recruitment. Candidates indicate their consent or refusal in the online application.
12. Biometrics:: Biometric details of candidates are recorded at every stage of the recruitment process. In case of any mismatch, the RRB reserves the right to disqualify the candidate and take appropriate legal action, and to conduct additional authentication and background checks.
13. Registration number:: Candidates are advised to note and remember their Registration Number for the further stages of the recruitment process and for correspondence with the RRBs.
14. Scribe facility:: Candidates with benchmark disabilities of blindness, locomotor disability with both arms affected (BA) and cerebral palsy are eligible for a scribe; other categories require a certificate from a Chief Medical Officer, Civil Surgeon or Medical Superintendent of a Government health care institution in the format at Annexure-V(G). Candidates with less than 40% disability covered under Section 2(s) but not Section 2(r) of the RPwD Act, 2016 who have difficulty in writing may also avail a scribe on producing the certificate at Annexure-V(E) and the undertaking at Annexure-V(F). Candidates must opt for a scribe in the online application, arrange the scribe at their own cost, ensure the scribe is registered at rrbapply.gov.in with a One-Time Registration number, and furnish the scribe's details in the five-day window immediately after the modification window closes. A scribe may assist only one candidate in the CEN, a candidate cannot act as a scribe for another candidate in the same CEN, and the scribe's educational qualification should be one step below that of the candidate. A separate e-call letter is issued to the scribe.
15. English version prevails:: In the event of any dispute about interpretation, the English version of the notification, amendments, corrigenda and notices published on the RRB websites is treated as final.
16. Corrigenda:: Candidates are advised to visit the official RRB websites for any amendments, corrigenda or notices issued against this notification.

Training Details

1. Training:: Selected candidates have to undergo training wherever prescribed. During the training period only a stipend is paid, as applicable.

Bond or Service Agreement

1. Security and indemnity bond:: Selected candidates have to execute a Security and/or Indemnity Bond wherever necessary at the time of joining the Railways.

Disqualification Criteria

1. Grounds for rejection of applications:: Multiple applications to different RRBs or to the same RRB (all applications rejected summarily and the candidate debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations); non-compliance with the instructions at Para 14.4 for capturing the live photo image; non-compliance with the instructions at Para 14.5 for uploading the signature; the candidate's name figuring in the debarred list of any RRB or RRC; and any other irregularity found during application scrutiny, before or after the issue of e-call letters, or during Document Verification.
2. Rejected applications:: Details of rejected applications and the reasons for rejection can be viewed on the concerned RRB's website after logging in. The reasons are final and binding and no further correspondence is entertained. No refund of examination fee is made on account of rejection. SMS and email alerts are also sent; candidates are not intimated by post.
3. False information:: If at any stage of the recruitment, or thereafter, any information furnished is found false or incorrect, or relevant information has been suppressed, or the candidate does not satisfy the eligibility criteria, the candidature is rejected forthwith; if already appointed, the candidate is liable to be removed from service summarily and debarred from all future RRB and RRC examinations for life.
4. Unfair means:: Any candidate found using unfair means of any kind, sending someone else in his or her place, or attempting to impersonate, is debarred from appearing in all examinations of all RRBs and RRCs for life, debarred from appointment in the Railways and, if already appointed, dismissed from service, and is liable to legal prosecution. Attention is drawn to The Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, 2024, effective from 21.06.2024. RRBs carry out post-examination analysis including log analysis, photograph and biometric verification and CCTV footage review.
5. Fraudulent reservation claims:: Candidature or appointment is cancelled forthwith if a fraudulent claim of SC/ST/OBC/EWS status or misuse of any other benefit comes to light at any stage, leading to permanent debarment from all RRB and RRC examinations and possible legal proceedings.
6. Scribe misuse:: Unauthorised use of a scribe or of compensatory time leads to disqualification and, if already appointed, removal from service without notice. If the scribe is found independently answering questions, the examination session is terminated and the candidature cancelled.
