Job Details

Centralised Employment Notification (CEN) 02/2025 announces recruitment by Railway Recruitment Boards for Technician Grade‑I Signal (Pay Level‑5) and various Technician Grade‑III categories (Pay Level‑2) across Indian Railways. Candidates apply online through official RRB websites, creating an account, choosing only one RRB per pay level and giving order of post and Railway/PU preferences. Selection consists of a Computer Based Test (separate CBTs for each pay level), followed by Document Verification and Medical Examination against the prescribed medical standards (A‑3/B‑1/B‑2/C‑1 as applicable). Vacancies are provisional and RRB‑ and Zone‑wise, with detailed distribution provided in Annexure B. Training is mandatory wherever prescribed, with stipend during training, and security/indemnity bond wherever necessary.

Salary Details

> Salary Range: ₹19,900 - ₹29,200 Monthly

> Grade Pay: ₹Pay Level‑2 (₹19,900) and Pay Level‑5 (₹29,200) under 7th CPC

How to Apply

1. Online only:
Submit applications through links on official RRB websites after creating an account (Para 14.2, 14.3).
2. One RRB per pay level:
Choose only one RRB for a given pay level; multiple applications for the same pay level lead to rejection and debarment (Paras 1.3, 13.0(a), 14.3(f)).
3. Separate application per pay level:
Apply and pay fee separately for each pay level as separate CBTs will be conducted (Para 14.3(e)).
4. Identity authentication:
Use DigiLocker/Aadhaar during ‘Create an Account’ for smoother verification (Para 14.2.2).
5. Live photo & signature:
Capture live photograph during application and upload signature as per specifications (Paras 14.4, 14.5).
6. Preferences:
Provide order of preferences for Zonal Railways/PUs and posts under the chosen RRB; options once exercised are final (Para v).

Exam Pattern

1. CBT structure (Level‑5):
Technician Gr‑I Signal: 90 minutes, 100 MCQs, 1/3 negative; normalization if multi‑shift (Para 13.1(A)(i)–(iii)).
2. Subjects & marks (Level‑5):
GA 10, Reasoning 15, Basics of Computers 20, Mathematics 20, Basic Science & Engineering 35 (Para 13.1(A)).
3. CBT structure (Level‑2):
Technician Gr‑III: 90 minutes, 100 MCQs, 1/3 negative; normalization if multi‑shift (Para 13.1(B)(i)–(iii)).
4. Subjects & marks (Level‑2):
Mathematics 25, Reasoning 25, General Science 40, General Awareness 10 (Para 13.1(B)).
5. Minimum qualifying marks:
UR/EWS 40%, OBC‑NCL 30%, SC 30%, ST 25%; may relax by 2% for PwBD against reserved vacancies (Paras 13.1(A)(iv) and 13.1(B)(iv)).

2. Level‑2 syllabus (highlights):

Selection Process

1. Stages:
Computer Based Test → Document Verification → Medical Examination (Para 13.0(b)).
2. Shortlisting ratio:
Candidates shortlisted for DV at 1:1 of RRB‑wise vacancies based on CBT merit; normalization applied (Paras 1.17, 13.2(a)).

Admit Card Details

1. E‑call letters:
Download from RRB websites about 4 days before CBT; exam city intimation about 10 days in advance (Para 19.0(b)).
2. Travel pass for SC/ST:
Eligible SC/ST candidates get free Sleeper Class travel authority in the e‑call letter (Para 19.0(e)).
3. ID proof:
Carry e‑call letter and valid original photo ID to the exam hall (Para 19.0(f)).

Reservation Details

1. Vertical reservation:
EWS/SC/ST/OBC‑NCL reservation as applicable; candidates must produce certificates in prescribed formats at DV (Paras 8.1–8.3).
2. OBC‑NCL certificate date:
Must be issued on or after 01.04.2025 and on/before the closing date of application (Para 8.5).
3. EWS certificate:
Income & Asset Certificate must be valid as on closing date; format at Annexure III (Para 8.13, 11).
4. Horizontal reservation:
PwBD and Ex‑Servicemen reservations provided; suitability of disabilities per Annexure A; relaxations/fee exemptions as applicable (Paras 9.0–9.6, 11.0).

Document Requirements

1. Certificates at DV:
Originals with two self‑attested copies to be produced at DV; scanned photo & signature to be uploaded before DV through https://oirms-ir.gov.in/rrbdv (Para 20.0).
2. Community/EWS/OBC:
SC/ST (Annexure I), OBC‑NCL (Annexure II with Annexure IIA self‑declaration), EWS (Annexure III) as applicable (Paras 8.3, 8.5, 8.13).
3. EBC fee concession:
EBC certificate/BPL/Izzat MST details must exist on or before 28.07.2025 for fee waiver (Paras 7.0, 7.3).
4. NOC:
No Objection Certificate for serving Central/State Govt/PSU employees at DV (Para 12.0).
5. Scribe documentation:
Scribe registration (OTR) and undertaking/certificates as per Annexures V(D)–V(G) where applicable (Paras 11.7.7–11.7.10).

Only one application per candidate per pay level and only to one RRB; multiple applications lead to rejection and debarment (Paras 1.3, 13.0(a)).
2. Banned items:
Mobile phones, watches, earphones, calculators, papers, bags, water bottles, food items etc. are not allowed inside the test centre (Para xx, Page 3).
3. Exam language:
CBT available in English, Hindi and 13 regional languages; choose one during application (Para 14.3(d)).

Training Details

1. Training:
Selected candidates for Technician posts will undergo prescribed training; only stipend is paid during training (Para 1.15).

Bond or Service Agreement

1. Security/Indemnity bond:
Selected candidates shall execute Security and/or Indemnity Bond wherever necessary (Para 1.16).

Disqualification Criteria

1. Invalid/rejected applications:
Multiple applications for same pay level/ different RRBs, non‑standard photo/signature, or being on RRB/RRC debarred list lead to rejection (Para 18.0).
2. Unfair means:
Use of unfair practices leads to lifetime debarment and legal action (Para 21.0).

Other Information

1. Medical standards reference:
Visual and other medical standards per IRMM Vol.I; LASIK not eligible for A‑3 posts (Para 3.0).
